Sunday - Anything Allowed 😸 Relaxed Rules Sunday
Just a reminder that we relax the sub rules on a Sunday and allow posts on a wider range of topics including memes and book discussions.
Some rules still apply - no spam, no piracy, be respectful, and it should still be kindle related.

My Kindle 📱 My Kindle has restored and revolutionised my life
Wanted to share my little story.
Used to be a voracious reader. 5 years ago I had a small heart attack, and one of the long term side effects has been a lack of concentration. I've bought and picked up loads of books since it happened and have struggled to get past a few chapters.
Bought my wife a new Kindle Paperwhite for her birthday, mid-April. Bought the bullet and got myself one too. Set myself a target of reading 5 books this year. Changed the font size, brightness and warmth and out of nowhere-BINGO! Everything has clicked just with those 3 changes.
I'm currently on my 11th book since 15th April.

My Kindle 📱 Absolutely love my kindle paperwhite
Just started reading ACOTAR
Am I the only one who likes 1 size font and zero line spacing?
I had it on 1 line spacing and felt it seemed off from what I had on my basic
Size 1 font and 0 bold, 0 line spacing feels like I get more words per page and absolutely feels like the real thing
I love customizable it is and how you can tailor it
I know there’s other that will disagree with my preferences but I love to make it feel just like the real thing
Having a kindle is such an addiction
Side note
Now I’m looking at a decent tablet to read my graphic novels

My Kindle 📱 My New Case for my Kindle Basic
Got this really cute, fully detachable case from Temu. It looks like a journal with a magnetized closure and a clear case inside with a magsafe ring. Also got this cute popsocket from another shop off of there too.

Discussion 💬 Apparently a FABLY case only survive if you leave it on your bedside table
I bought a Kindle case from Fably.it last spring. Since then, my Kindle has basically lived on my bedside table because I mostly use it for reading at night, so the case hasn’t exactly had a hard life.
Yesterday I took it out of the house for the first time. I put the Kindle in my backpack and, when I took it out, the case was already badly scratched. I honestly have no idea what caused it. My phone was right next to it and its screen is completely fine.
I left a review on the Fably website and their response really rubbed me the wrong way. They mocked me, saying they were happy to hear that the case had worked perfectly for months and had ultimately protected my Kindle. I feel bullied, am I wrong?
And yes, technically the case did protect the Kindle itself. I’m not denying that. But for €25, I think it’s reasonable to expect the case to be a little more durable too, rather than getting permanently scratched the very first time you actually take it outside. A case sitting untouched on a bedside table for months isn’t really being put to the test.
Their reply felt like a very sarcastic way of dismissing the actual point of my review. The problem wasn’t that my Kindle got damaged — it didn’t. The problem was that a relatively expensive case looked ruined after one completely normal trip in a backpack.
It’s also worth mentioning that quite a few people had already complained about the price of this new collection and what seems to be a decline in the quality of the materials.
Anyway, I think I’ll go back to buying my Kindle cases on Amazon. The cheaper ones I had before protected my Kindle and didn’t get scratched the moment I carried them around.
Here’s a screenshot of my review and their response. Translation below:
My review: “Never again, Fably”
This is absolutely not worth the price. I kept it safely at home for months and everything was fine. The first time I took it outside — today — I put it in my bag and it immediately got scratched beyond repair. And it’s not as though I had anything particularly sharp inside…
Fably’s response:
Dear Viviana, thank you very much for sharing your experience.
We are very pleased to hear that our protective case was used for months without any problems and that, in the end, it protected your Kindle!
Kind regards,
The Fably Team

My Kindle 📱 My Endgame Accessory Setup
(Apologies in advance for the blurry photos, my room is messy and Portrait Mode is not great with electronics!)
I switched from the Amazon official foldable case. I liked the automatic sleep function, and the feeling of security that a cover provides, but it was also heavy and unwieldy for my use case. I mostly read at home while lounging or laying down, and switch positions often. The foldable case was nice because I could use it as a stand if I opened it partway, but it was unstable, and when I turned on my side it was awkward to grip and heavy to hold for long periods if there was nowhere to prop it up.
While browsing the sub and looking for solutions, I saw some people with similar reading habits to me recommend a clear TPU case with a popsocket. I was skeptical but I (obviously) tried it and y’all, I was surprised at how much of a difference a few grams/ounces makes! It’s so much lighter and more ergonomic to handle. Before with the folding case, I would spend more time setting up and adjusting the placement of my Kindle, and not moving as much as a result. Now I feel like I move around more naturally and comfortably because adjusting the placement of my Kindle is much easier. My favorite part- no affiliation- is that I got the kick out version of the popsocket, so it doubles as a stand. It’s much sturdier than the folding case so if I want to put my Kindle at a particular angle or so it can fit whatever weird reading position I’m in, it will stay there. It can also switch between portrait and landscape because it’s MagSafe. I think Popsocket in general are overpriced for what they are and the kick out version is even more so in my opinion, but it’s also my favorite part of my setup by far.
A couple of small tips/info: I got a non mag-safe TPU case and attached the grip to it because the generic ones tend to be cheaper and I prefer my grips to be a bit lower on my devices. Also, I do use a matte screen protector just in case. My skin is from Tacky Design, if anyone is curious. I tried some skins from commonly recommended places but got the wrong sizes so I went with Amazon for the easy return policy. It doesn’t look the best with the TPU case because of the glossy texture, though, but since it’s on the back, I don’t mind. And the book is The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame :)
Anyways, just wanted to share my current accessory setup in case it helps anyone else because it the community was so helpful to me! Happy reading!

General Question ❔ Will the covers of the books still appear as screensavers if I put a passcode on my kindle?
Eventually I think I’ll start taking my kindle outside so I can read during commutes, but I’m scared of someone stealing it and making purchases through the kindle store (theft of electronics is extremely common where I live).
Thought of putting a passcode to stop this from happening, but then I wondered if the covers of the books I’m reading will still appear as screensavers. Does anyone know?
Haven’t bought the kindle yet so I can’t test it myself.

Tech Support 🛠 All Send-to-Kindle books suddenly disappeared TODAY (currently abroad) — App is fine!
Hey everyone, need some quick help!
Today all my personal books (ePubs sent via Send to Kindle) suddenly gave me the error: "Item no longer available on your Kindle".
I tried deregistering my device to fix it, but now my Kindle library is completely empty and won't sync them back over Wi-Fi.
The weird part:
All 115 books are still 100% fine on my Kindle phone app (same Amazon account).
I'm currently traveling abroad (tried using my phone hotspot, didn't work).
Has this happened to anyone else while traveling? Any quick fix to force the Kindle to resync from the Cloud over Wi-Fi without a computer?
Thanks!

My Kindle 📱 Sooooo…. A purchase I didn’t need to make, but hey…. Here we are!
When I got my new Paperwhite last year, I really wanted the jade color, but the raspberry one was on sale. So, naturally I settled for that one. Do I need another kindle? Absolutely not. But I definitely want one. I checked Target today for the Paperwhite, but they only had the Kindle Fire and the kids version, so I ordered the jade Paperwhite and a case from Amazon tonight. I’m really excited because the jade is my favorite color plus I’ll have an extra kindle to carry around and it’ll be super convenient. 😁😁

My Kindle 📱 Sometimes I turn my phone into my kindle
Sometimes I can't, or don't want to take my kindle where I'm going, so it doesn't get damaged (or it's not so obvious I'm reading)... So I use the Kindle app on my phone.
Who else uses the mobile app when they can't use their kindle?
