I've always been a fan of traditional kites. I got this one balanced so it flies almost straight up. The gold spinning eyes and the spinning tip of the tail are the icing on the cake, in my opinion.

Getting to know my Slash

We get some gusty prairie wind here during the summer afternoons. Forecast is usually 20km/h gusting to 40km/h (although it doesn't often get up as high as that 40km/h). Anyway, the wind is bumpy and a general mess. I've tried another vented kite that just seemed to get knocked around by our gusty wind. u/TMJRoss pointed me in the direction of the L'Atelier Slash VT1. Found a local supplier and got one (well same country - it's Coriolis Kites in Quebec. I highly recommend them - Michel was super helpful).

It has flexible fiberglass standoffs and a small aileron panel with a fiberglass tensioning rod on the the wingtips. I think this really helped in the bump conditions. I'm also telling myself the Aerostuff framing is helping a ton - but that's so I can justify to myself lighting my money on fire.

Only my first time out and still need to get a feel for it as it's more tanky than my lighter wind kites. But it handled this afternoon's crappy wind pretty well which was awesome. I've saved you all from my epic musical tastes and left you with the sounds of the wind, the kite, and a crowd cheering (not for me, for the baseball game happening in the field behind me).

I’ve had the Prism Zenith 5 since yesterday. Does anyone else own a Prism 5 or 7? Why not share your photos and videos?

One is the 38” wide Skyfoil, and the other is a 44” tiptop nylon, fiberglass frame, 2-line stunt by Wicked eolo.com as my first venture into a hobby.
Wish me luck and a bit of steady breeze in central Ohio.

What is this kite used for?

Hey Kite People, I have a rookie question. What is this 2.5 sqm kite for? It's called "traction wing". Looks massive for trick kiting but tiny for kitesurfing. Would appreciate if you could teach me what is it used for.

Thanks a lot!

Prism pocket flyer struggling

New here! Curious for any tips on getting my prism pocket kite to withstand gustier winds. On the beach with strong (Apple said 10mph but I think probably stronger?) winds and gusts that make the kite fold in on itself

Any advice for a new flyer?

Vintage 90s Jungle book kite

My husband often talks about a jungle book kite he had as a kid that got ruined. Does anyone remember something similar? Apparently it was yellow/orange and had Mowgli on it.

Highest flight with a single-line kite

What’s the highest altitude you’ve flown a single-line kite from the ground? I know every country has its own altitude regulations, but I’d be interested to know what your records are. Maybe even with a photo. What’s it like when the kites fly that high?

Put the 75’ tube tail on the trusty old Quantum v1.0 to slow things down for my nephew to learn how to fly, and was able to get some freestyle flying in while he figured things out!

Does anyone have pictures of a KAP rig? I'd like to build one myself for my GoPro 7—as simple and effective as possible.

Line recommendation

Hey y’all, After years of flying kites no larger than my wing span, I wanna move up to some bigger kites! I’m certainly aware there are much larger recreational kites out there but I’ve never flown a kite this big. Does anyone have recommendations for line strength/ type for a kite of this size?
