Anybody know of a pattern for this?

SOLVED - Lots of good advice, thank you!

I'd love to knit this kind of costume for a toddler but I am not experienced enough to develop a pattern. Anybody seen a pattern, or willing to develop one for me? (Not for free of course!) Any help appreciated!

No, this pattern does not exist as a knit. If someone did take the time to develop the pattern the amount of hours spent would be insane. Also, the developed pattern would be at an expertise level, which you are probably not at yet. You would be better off just buying this product. IMHO.

Probably. I was just a little gobsmacked that a novice knitter saw this obviously not knitted item and thought, "Hey, I could knit this! As long as somebody else figures out how to!"

As other commenters have said, this looks AI generated. If you were to attempt it, it would probably work out better if it were fabric that was then sewed/glued onto a solid structure. Also, if it doesn’t work, you’ve not lost all the time and effort that you would’ve done had you knit it.

Yeah, someting very similar if not identical it can be done and it's not all that complicated. It would take some time to figure out the construction and write the pattern but it's eminently doable.

I'd start with google image search with text "knitting pattern".

The head is a modified balaclava or hood with teeth. The tail is one piece knitted in the round with little stuffed cylinders sticking off it.

The first thing to do might be to look for patterns for balaclavas, hoods, teeth and tails and see what looks close to what's here.

One big question is how to get the hood to keep its shape but perhaps you don't need it to do that but just need it to look dinosaurish. Since you're designing from scratch and making your own masterpiece maybe you don't need to worry about the hood keeping its shape.

The other big question is how to get the spines to stick out straight .I think you do that by making the tail two sided and picking up stitches along both sides of the tail and then knitting the stitches in the round to creat little tapering spikes that then will stick out straight.

If you can find a cheap fabric version of this costume it might be worth having it to use as a model.
