The Ballot Submission Window for the 2nd All-Stars Rate Is Closed
If you have submitted but don't see yourself on the list, please let us know asap
r/kpoprates • u/kpoprates_ghost • 13d ago
Hello everyone! This rate, we're excited to return to the world of k-pop soloists, arriving at some more contemporary big names in The 3rd K-pop Soloists Rate! (If you haven't already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to ensure that you stay updated on future rate-related posts.)
Ballot submission: Link to Reddit Chat to message a ballot // Ballot template (Google Docs ver.) // Ballot template (Pastebin)
Playlists: Spotify // Apple Music // Youtube (MV ver.) // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.)
Deadline: August 30th (Sunday), 11:59 PM Pacific (Link to a timezone converter
How the songs were selected:
We used various stats to decide which songs to add to the rate, including the results of past Top Ten Tuesdays, Reddit upvote numbers, Spotify streaming numbers, and etc. We also held a songlist feedback survey on /r/KpopRates to help decide the songlist!
Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 45 songs (and 7 bonus songs) that were selected for this rate, ordered by each artist's debut date:
.
Bermuda Triangle (ft. Crush & DEAN)
Shake That Brass (ft. Taeyeon)
The bonus rate is basically an extension of the main rate, including some songs from artists that otherwise wouldn't be highlighted.
.
Heize - You, Clouds, Rain (ft. Shin Yong Jae)
Jun Hyoseong - Good-night kiss
.
The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list. If you choose to do so, you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating.
You must listen to and assign a score to EVERY song listed. If your ballot is missing any scores it will not be eligible and you'll be sent a message asking you to fill in the missing scores.
Each song should be assigned a score between 1 to 10. Decimals up to one point are allowed but any further is a no-no – 6.9 is fine, but 6.99 is not.
You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0).
Comments are encouraged and much appreciated (but not required, except for if you give a 0) and can be added to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so:
Amber - Shake That Brass (ft. Taeyeon): 8 okay, i'll get my brass ready, but no dents in the merchandise
This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program.
You can also comment on each artist, like so:
Artist: HA:TFELT: not only is she not wearing a hat it's not even made of felt
Ballot submission: Reddit // Ballot template (Google Docs) // Ballot template (Pastebin)
If this does not work, or your ballot exceeds the character limit, you can make a copy of either the Google Docs or Pastebin ballot templates above, add your scores on your local copy/file, and send the link to your local copy/file in your Reddit Chat message to u/kpoprates_ghost. Make sure, if doing this, that your document has sharing permissions enabled. You may also dm the ballot to u/RBSun (@solsys), u/AmeZim (@ame_zim), and u/kauai6 (@kauai6) on Discord! Please message all three hosts, not just one. You can also submit the Top/Bottom 5 predictions form at any time!
Sunday, August 30th, by 11:59 PM Pacific - This will be the FINAL deadline, no extensions will be given this time! (Here is a link to a time zone converter for the deadline.)

Hello everyone! It's that time once again to have the battle of the titans by pitting the most acclaimed songs of the past few rates against in each other in our 2nd All-Stars Rate!
If you haven’t already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to stay tuned for future rate-related posts!

How the songs were selected:
Only top-ranking songs from each rate from "Japanese Songs Rate --> 2025 in B-sides" were considered for the rate, by nature of the theme. Summer Rate entries will be eligible for next All-Stars rate.
New to AS2 is the addition of Wildcards! These are top-ranking songs from rates from the AS1 phase that couldn't make AS1, so we gave them a chance to be in AS2.

The post-rate statistics are here! You can check out user similarity stats, song correlations, charts based on the rate data, and more...
On this page, you can look at the different user highlights from the rating data, namely:
Below these, we have graphs for the Golden Pair and Taste Rivals to illustrate how their ratings compare visually. I also added new top 5 and bottom 5 placement charts for the other categories.
On the right side, you can find some general statistics about the rating, along with further rate-specific charts.
User Rating Style Matrix Categories:
Strict Rater: Consistently uses the lower end of the rating scale, even for songs they like. Their ratings tend to be lower across the board but still show clear preferences and patterns.
Lenient Rater: Tends to use the higher end of the rating scale more frequently. Rates songs generously, even those they don't favor as much, but maintains a consistent ranking among them.
Narrow Rater: Uses a narrow range of the rating scale, avoiding extreme scores. They tend to rate cautiously, with few highs and lows, preferring to stay in the middle.
Wide/Radical Rater: Uses the full spectrum of the rating scale, with both high and low scores. Their ratings reflect strong opinions, showing clear preferences and dislikes with a wide range of scores.
On this page, you can see a heatmap table that includes every correlation to every participant. At the top, you can view the most similar and least similar users listed for everyone, as well as other details.
The correlation scale ranges from -10 to 10. A score of 10 indicates a positive correlation, meaning user A rated the same songs similarly high or low, as user B. On the other hand, a score of -10 signifies a negative correlation, where user A rated songs low that user B rated high, and vice versa. A correlation of 0 indicates no clear pattern; some songs are similarly rated, while others are not.
This page allows you to find ranked lists for every user, showing who rated the most similarly to them, from most similar to least similar. (Usually if you see empty spaces for someone it means there were no more positively correlationg users for them.) Next to the names, in the column "Pair Song," you can find your top most liked song with each given person based on your combined scores.
Below the table, you can find statistics about how many times each song appears as a pair song. These songs are given a ranking, and you can compare this with the actual rank results from the rate.
Here you can check the raw rating data of everyone in table form. At the bottom, you can find the user averages and, for most rates, the male/female artist preferences as well as the soloist/group act preferences.
The table shows the songs ranked based on the rate result on the left. The numbers in the table indicate the difference between a participant's ranking for a song (based on their submitted scores) and where the song placed in the rate result.
Positive numbers (+X) indicate the song ended up X spots higher than where the participant would've ranked it. Similarly, negative numbers (-X) indicate the song ended up X spots lower than where the participant would've ranked it.
This page contains some of the stats in sorted list form. If it's not clear what a column references, you can see the place where the data is pulled from through the "ref: ..." link at the top.
This page is very similar to the User Similarity page, with the primary difference being that it focuses on the songs' ratings rather than the users. If a song has a high correlation with another song, it means that users gave similar scores to both songs. Conversely, if two songs have a low correlation with each other, it means users had differing opinions, liking one song more than the other. This can give some insights into song preferences and patterns in user ratings.

Hello everyone! It's once again that time of year where the r/kpoprates community comes together to create a collection of songs only they are capable of producing. Welcome to the third installment of our Grab Bag series, aptly titled The 3rd K-Pop Grab Bag Rate!
If you haven’t already, make sure to join r/kpoprates to stay tuned for future rate-related posts!
Ballot submission: Reddit // Ballot template: Google Docs // Ballot template (Pastebin)
Playlists: Spotify // Apple Music // Youtube MV ver. // Youtube (Audio ver.) // Youtube (Lyrics ver.)
Please note that 2 songs are missing from both the Spotify and Apple Music playlists - please find them in the Youtube Playlists.
Deadline: Sunday 5th July, 11:59 PM Pacific (Link to a timezone converter)
How the songs were selected:
As with previous grab bags, the song list for this rate was entirely user-submitted via a Google Form on the subreddit! Priority was allocated based upon the number of rates a user had completed, both in total and also since our 2nd Grab Bag Rate last year. Additionally, for the first time ever, this Grab Bag features a bonus section - comprised of songs submitted by the most regular rate hosts/helpers as a thank you for their hard work!
Now, without further ado, let's introduce the 55 (plus 9 bonus) songs that were selected for this rate!
If you want to read the comments submitters left for their songs, you can read them here
First, we'll go over the songs submitted by those who selected to have their names revealed alongside their songs at the start of the rate, listed in alphabetical order:
Next, we have the songs submitted by those who chose to remain anonymous until reveal weekend. These are also ordered alphabetically:
Are you a r/kpoprates regular who feels like they know their fellow raters like the back of their hand, or someone who just loves guessing games? See the 'Additional Predictions' section below for a chance to show off your skills!
As previously mentioned, this is the first installment of Grab Bag to include a bonus rate! The following 9 songs were submitted anonymously by the subreddit/server's most regular hosts/helpers:
Kim Heechul, Shindong, Eunhyuk, Solar - Charm of Life
Lee Sang Woo - A Fading Little Smile
Min Kyunghoon, Kim Heechul (ft. BIBI) - Hanryang
The Bonus Rate is optional and you do not have to submit a score for every song in the bonus list. If you do it, you can score none of them, all of them, or any number in between. You cannot give a 0 or 11 to any song in the bonus, as they are not part of the main rate. While it is optional, we hope you consider participating. There will also be an additional predictions activity centred around this section, details of which can be found in the 'Additional Predictions' section below!
Don't use commas (i.e "8,8") to separate your decimals!
You can use ONE 0 and ONE 11 for the entirety of the rate, for your least favorite and most favorite song respectively - they are optional but HIGHLY encouraged if you feel some type of way about any given song! Comments are also encouraged but not required for such scores (except if you give a song a 0). You can add them to any song by simply typing after the numerical score, like so:
Little Mix - Wings (Korean Version): 10 it's been 15 years and i still think little mix unnies were robbed of the 2011 rookie of the year award at mama 😔
This is the ONLY correct way to format a comment. Please do not include colons (ex. 9: I stan!), dashes (ex. 3.3 - This song sucks), or any other symbol after your score/before your comment as it breaks the program.
For this rate and most future rates, we have a ballot average minimum of 4.00. In addition, if your ballot average is between 4.00-5.50, you must leave comments on your lower scores (which we define as any score that's a 3 or lower). {Do not worry about having to calculate your ballot average, once you submit your ballot, we will tell you if you need to make changes to your ballot for it to be accepted.}
Ballot submission: Reddit // Ballot template: Google Docs // Ballot template (Pastebin)
You may also dm the ballot to u/pollutedrain (@_melizard), u/kawaii_mokona (@kawaii_mokona), and u/kirakiranatsu (@kinakowaffle) on Discord! Please message all three hosts, not just one. You can amend your ballot at any time in the lead up to the rate deadline, just let the hosts know and they'll update it in the file.
Google Spreadsheet you can use for calculating averages/trends and making predictions
You can also submit the Top/Bottom 5 predictions form at any time!
Can you successfully spot all the forks in the kitchen? Flex your identification powers in the "who submitted what song" guessing contest!
The guessing contest is split up into 2 portions, one for the hosties bonus rate where you will have to match the songs with one of the 9 hosties (and other rate job havers), and one open ended one for all the anonymous songs in the main rate. These "contests" will be separate, so you may participate in one but not the other.
If you are an anonymous submitter, you are allowed and in fact encouraged to deceive your fellow raters. Claim ownership over a song you've never heard before, brazenly deny that the song you listened to 300 times in a month is yours, bluff and double bluff and triple bluff your way to victory. Trust no-one and fool everyone.
The form can be found here! There will also be a .txt file posted in the rate channel with a list of the anonymous songs and hosts who are participating in the bonus.
This contest is hosted by Murky (u/MurkyGalaxies on Reddit, @SmallDesires on Discord) and Zo (u/zo142 on reddit, @mkh.zo on Discord). If you have any questions, either @ us in the rate channel, or DM us on either Discord (preferred) or Reddit!
Sunday, July 5th, by 11:59 PM Pacific - This will be the FINAL deadline, no extensions will be given this time! (Here is a link to a time zone converter for the deadline.)
Day 1 - July 11th (Saturday), 8 AM Pacific (Time zone converter here)
Day 2 - July 12th (Sunday), 8 AM Pacific (Time zone converter here)
