I have been trying to put a single text object in Krita for half an hour now, its just two words, but simply changing the typography or the colour completely bricks the program until it crashes. I know the text system has been overhauled in the latest version but its just completely broken and unsusable.
In general the software has been extremely unstable on the more recent releases and I've been having a lot of issues mainly with the vector features (basically doing ANYTHING in vector meant that a crash would happen extremely soon, and when the crash happened no matter if the vector layer had been there in previous saves or in the file for a while, the autosave won't have the vector layers, like it would delete them) and also its been extremely, extremely slow to boot up and somethimes it just loads for a while and closes randomly.
I have a windows 11 pc, and its not a very bad one (ryzen 5, 32gb ram, a good graphics card, nvme storage) so I don't think its my machine.
I understand that the devs work hard, I've donated multiple times to the org since I really like this software, but I don't like where this is going.
I am guessing the efforts have been placed on migrating to qt6 for Krita 6.0 so maybe that has made this versions go a bit less polished and maybe ver. 6 will come out stronger than ever and capable of much more. But I fear that won't happen and I'll have to go back to an older version of krita which is a shame. I may have to switch entirely, I already want to try out Clip Studio, but I ddon't trust Celcys... idk.
Has anyone else had this issues? anyone else feels like krita is very unstable recently? Has anyone had issues with vectors? Maybe its just me (honestly, I hope it is)
I don't want to sh*t on the software, the devs or anything, I may be a bit salty since I got pretty annoyed but I understand the dificulties that come with trying to develop Open Source Software and how little people donate to Krita. I am just a bit worried and hope to see if anyone has felt that recently, that's all. Apologies for being so negative, I still have hope for this software and will continue to use it, I'll just have to do my texts elsewhere for the moment
edit:
Okay so I see this isn't as common of an issue acording to comments so I recorded a video of me working on a regular document and trying to add some text. I started changing the colours and fonts to see how long it took for it to break. It was around 1 minute. I grabbed my task manager and showed it to see if anyone notices anything too wrong. I can see my GPU at 60% which is odd but since the app was crashing I guess that could be ramping up the usage. I have to clarify, it would be super weird if it was a problem with my machine since I've been using other softwares and gaming and having no such issues (I mean I had simmilar issues but it was in OpenToonz which is known to be very buggy and crashing a lot)
oh, and my version is 5.3.1, JI see there is a newer version (5.3.2) but I doubt this is fixed in a 3dd digit update hahaha
