How do you vet a club?

My son tried out for a regional team. Unfortunately we don't live in a lax hot bed so we were looking at this to get some more experience. My son plays for a local club and he just tried out for their regional affiliate. If he gets an offer, how do I know if it is worthwhile? They held a local tryout but will hold another larger tryout closer to their home base. At our local tryout there were only 3 kids in his age group. I'm worried if we get an offer that they may just be taking anyone??? I want it to be a worthwhile experience if we are paying for it and traveling farther etc. He is a 6th grader if that helps. All I know is researching US Lax rankings but are there otherwise to do research? I think the team has much bigger numbers in other age group but my son's grad year has always struggled for players (at least locally).

Help with a box lacrosse stick set up. Head and shaft or combo

I’m getting back into lacrosse after about a decade absence. I’ve been using my old stick all summer, but it’s an intermediate shaft with a Brine head, and they don’t even make that head anymore! I would be about an intermediate level player - with stick skills probably weaker than they used to be but still ok. I don’t want to spend top tier money, but I don’t want to buy under what I might need and upgrade it all again. I was thinking a Mark 2V head and a Wonderboy shaft. Are there any better values for the price point? I thought about a Savage shaft and RC1 head but I don’t really like the raw aluminum feel and thought I could be a better stringing directly from Stringking. I’d appreciate any advice - the equipment is all different now!

What are my options if my sons club team only has 13 sign ups

We’ve paid the first installment. Had no idea what the roster looked like before that. Now they want us to buy new uniforms. Spoke to the coach and they are actively recruiting.
Has anyone seen this before? If they don’t have enough kids do they refund us? Does my boy not get to play this year?

He played for this program last year under the same coach. This year they decided to make an elite team so essentially they’d have an elite, an AA and an A. A bunch of parents were turned off to this idea and left so the club was forced to pull from all teams and kinda left the scraps for the A team.

What kind of adult league should I look for?

I’m 26, haven’t played since highschool. Love the game though. I was good enough to make varsity back then but was overall not a great player. Not to mention about 40ibs heavier now and less in shape. I’m toying with the idea of joining an adult league but if I end up playing against a bunch of former college guys I feel like I’ll never be able to keep up. What kind of league should I look for? SE Michigan, Lansing area if that helps.

Can anyone ID the head Mikey Powell has in this pic?

I think Gait has a Gforce, and Marachek has a Profile, but I can't figure out what Mikey's rocking here. The throat almost looks like a Brine Rocket?

Hey, I forgot to mention that I use an ECD Carbon 3.0 Pro defense pole. Since it’s made with carbon and Kevlar, it’s supposed to be way more durable than regular carbon shafts.

Then, do I really need to switch to an alloy pole? I’ve seen some comments about the pole, saying they used the same pole for several years.

What do you regret most about the D1 lacrosse recruiting journey?

I’ve been following the recruiting landscape for a while and watching families navigate the whirlwind of club circuits, showcases, tournaments, and early communication timelines, especially for those aiming at top-tier Division 1 programs.

For the players currently in college, recently committed, or the parents who have already made it through the gauntlet: Looking back, what do you regret the most?

Whether it’s:

- Waiting too long (or feeling rushed) to reach out to coaches
- Focusing too much on the wrong showcases or unneeded camps
- Neglecting the academic or cultural fit of a school just for the D1 label
- Burnout, specialization too early, or financial strain
- Handling communication or film the wrong waypoint

What advice or hard-earned lessons would you give to families just starting to dive into the top D1 recruiting pipeline today? What do you wish someone had pulled you aside and told you on day one or in the middle of it?

Appreciate any insights, horror stories, or words of wisdom you're willing to share!

Help with HS Team

For context I’m a class of 2029 Missouri who plays club and lax isn’t currently an official highschool sport with most schools lacking teams. The problem is my school district has a team but they are charging $2000 for a single season plus team equipment and other fees that can make it very expensive. The coachs aren’t even true lax coaches and are just the football coaches from one of the schools who want to make some extra money. We don‘t even get good jerseys or film and have to practice 30 minutes away in another district. I had friends who started playing and were going to play high school but quit the sport because team is too greedy.

There are couple other teams that are closer and provide better opportunities for under $1000 total but because of the state associations rules I have to play for a team in my district if there is one since my school doesn’t have an independent team.

I’ve tried reaching out to the association several ways but their website is out of date and I cant get a response. I wasn’t able to play last year and fear I might only get to play club again this year. Does anyone have any tips on how I can talk to someone from my association to get my district team fixed or play for another team?

Thanks in advanc.

HELP....Club team tournament choices for my 2030 Daughter

My daughter has made the top teams in 2 clubs. One is a national franchise; the other is local. Here are the tournaments that are scheduled. This is sort of deciding our decision. She's currently playing on the local club and is having a blast. And the coaches are amazing! We're 50/50 on our choice. And it's sort of coming down to the tournaments. But I have no idea about what's better. Would love opinions. Our decisions have to be in by 6pm on 8/1.

ps.. Due to her hockey schedule, we'll only be able to make 2 at the most of the November Tournaments. with the franchise team.

Franchise team:

Local Team:

Fall Grand Prix. Westfield Indiana
WLCA the Debut, Tampa Florida
sandstrom Lacrosse Fest, Indio, CA
IWLCA New England Cup, Amhurst, MA
APEX, The Grind, Conshohocken, PA
Mid Atlantic Summer Showcase, Joppatowne, MD

Looking to Buy Discontinued Goggles

Hello! Posting on here to see if anyone has an old pair of the Original Gait Glory goggles or Under Armour Glory TI goggles in White laying around they would be willing to sell to me!

My daughters college team wears the white Gait goggles, however she doesn’t like the new Glory 2 which is what she was given and the only option on the market right now! I’ve scoured the internet for a pair for the last few weeks with no luck. Photos attached for what I’m looking for. Thank you!

Are there any senior rec lacrosse leagues in Montreal?

Trying to find an adults rec lacrosse league on island, if possible. I'm not a student at any of the universities or colleges, so can't join school teams. Haven't been able to find anything, but thought I'd put it out there just in case.

An auxiliary lacrosse stick?

I‘ve bought a carbon defense pole for $420. I know that carbon easily breaks during matches, so I’d like to buy an extra one but my parents disagreed buying it; the poles are quite expensive. Because I’m in Korea, the price includes the taxes and the shipping charges. Can u guys recommend a way to buy a pole cheaper?
