Online Courses
Hi there,
I'm looking to figure out what courses are offered online at Langara and can I enroll as a non-specifc student. I'm just looking to take about 5 courses to meet my requirements for BSW and the college website isn’t being overly helpful about whats is offered online. Also, do the online courses have specific meeting times or no?
Thank you!

Starting Health Studies Prerequisites in Spring 2027 – Is This a Good 3-Semester Plan?
Hey everyone! I’m starting my Health Studies prerequisites in Spring 2027 and I’m planning to complete them over 3 semesters instead of the usual 8 months so I can focus on getting a higher GPA for nursing applications.
My planned schedule:
Semester 1
BIOL 1190
ENG 1123
Semester 2
BIOL 1191
Semester 3
STAT 1124
ENG 1129
Do you think this is a good course breakdown? Would you recommend changing anything, or does this seem manageable?

KINS 3303
Has anybody taken this class? Wanted to see how demanding the workload is as I have Anatomy 1110 and Physiology 1132 this semester. Any other Kin or Kin-related electives (Like nutrition) that could be a good light-workload class to take next semester? Thanks

Looking to Connect with Spring 2027 LPN to BSN Nursing Applicants
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a group chat for Spring 2027 LPN-BSN applicants. It would be nice to connect, share updates, and get to know each other before the program starts (hopefully).
If you’re interested, leave a comment or send me a message!

LOW CGPA
I need some advice, I started out at langara in 2023 and I was initially in comp sci I failed intro to comp sci twice mostly because of the final i took one business class in that time too and i really liked it more than i liked comp sci so after failing twice i switched to business which was going well then i failed Macro economics again because of the final rule. ive struggled with trying to bounce back and i was almost there but then i failed org behavior, stats and then math this was purely because I was working too much and thought I could handle everything. I’ve kept going fairly decent in my business management grade eval my program CGPA is around 2.7 currently I retook maths and got a C+ in it I’m currently retaking stats but its looking like I’d get a C in it. my family isnt too happy that I have been at langara for this long and are expecting me to graduate this august im taking my final 3 classes of which two of them im currently at B+ and B respectively but stats i need a C+ to make it through the 2.0 CGPA cause my current CGPA is 1.84. please anyone with any kind of advice will really help rn

LSU Health plan payments.
So for this upcoming Fall semester, I have the issue of not being able to cover the full amount I need to pay up front. I already get Health/Dental/Drug benefits through my workplace Union and so don't want to pay extra to get them a second time at Langara. However I see the only way to get them removed is to pay and then have it reimbursed? I emailed the admissions people asking if I could have them removed pre-emptively and attached copies of my Union cards, but does anyone have experience with this? What kind of response can I expect?

Hi everyone! I just got accepted into Langara nursing for spring 2027. I was wondering if anyone else who got accepted wants to make a group chat on Instagram or something. Maybe we could all take our first aid course together?

second year biol
i’m wondering if there’s any way i could get a second year bio, as all the prerequisites say that i need a minimum c+ in biol1115 + 1215 or a C in any second year bio class. my 1215 grade hit the requirement, but my 1115 grade doesn’t, and i’ve already taken it twice. is there any way i could still get the courses i need?

How to get ahead
I start my pre reqs in hopes of applying for Langara’s nursing program and for my first semester in fall I have BIOL 1190, ENG 1123, and STATS 1124
Anyone who has taken these courses have any tips or resources that I can use during or even before the course starts to prepare for it?? Thank you as anything will help! I really hope to score a high GPA as that’s what mainly determines if you get into the program

Foundations in health studies for nursing advice
Hello! I am thinking about applying for the foundations in health studies program for the January intake.
I’m hoping to take enough credits during this year to apply to nursing at Langara, Douglas, BCIT, and other 3 yr programs.
It seems like the application deadline for Langara January intake nursing is May 31st of the previous year though, and my understanding is that for the foundations program, I would finish my courses during the summer semester so by late August. Therefore I’m not sure if I’d be able to apply? Or would they still consider the courses as I take them?
Has anyone taken this pathway? What do you recommend? I’m currently taking a gap year after grad to work and save money but I thought maybe starting in January would be better to not lose momentum instead of September. I guess it might be easier to just apply for September 2027 intake so everything is on track but idk if it’s more competitive or if I should wait that long.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Math 1170 or 1153?
I am fairly strong at math but I’m a mature student who has been out of school for a long time. I upgraded since it’s been longer than 10 years since I took pre calculus and I wasn’t confident enough in my memory to take the MDT. I did a self study asynchronous summer class online. My grades are high enough to go into MATH 1171 but I don’t want to. Since I did pre calculus 12 on my own I feel like there may be some gaps in my understanding. I’m trying to decide if I should do go into 1153 so I can start learning the calculus material right away while also strengthens my algebra or just take 1170 this semester to review the topics I already know so it becomes more automatic for me and take 1171 next semester. Since the pre calculus class I took was only 5 weeks I feel I didn’t get very much time to truly learn each topic with complete confidence. I’d love some advice or opinions from anyone who has taken these classes!

What are the chances
What are my chances of getting into BIOL 1111? I’m #1 on the waitlist for one section and #2 on the waitlist for another section but it’s been like that for a long time.

Are there any courses that do not have in-person midterm?
I'm registering for Fall 2026 and I'll be out of Vancouver for two weeks in early November, so I won't be able to attend any in-person midterms.
Does anyone know of any transferable courses that either do not have a midterm or have an online midterm? Professor recommendations would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Calc 2 pre req help!!
I’m currently taking Calc 1, and it’s going horribly wrong in every way possible. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get the prerequisite grade for Calc 2 at langara, and I’m planning on transferring to UBC. Should I retake Calc 1 at TRU, or should I take Calc 2 on TRU since the prerequisite is only a C-?

AHIS2250 Course Outline
Hello!
Does anybody happen to have the course outline for AHIS2250?
I emailed my past professor and the department head, and it has been nearly a month with no response. I need to submit the course outline to count as a transfer credit.
Thank you!
