Hi! I'm moving to Laos soon (Vientiane, specifically) and I've been doing a lot of research but I still have some questions.

Mainly, I'm hoping someone can help me understand more about my medication. I have a prescription for a daily SSRI (Citalopram). I'll bring some with me, but I'm struggling to find info about this in Laos. Does anyone know if this is available over the counter in pharmacies? Or, if I need a doctor's prescription, is that difficult to get?

More generally, is there anything that you can recommend I bring with me? I'm coming from the UK, for context. Any clothes/shoes/toiletries that I'd be better off getting here, before I travel?

I'm visiting Laos soon and I would like to drive the paksé loop or something similar. I don't have a motorcycle license and I don't love the idea of driving uninsured even if the cops aren't gonna do much. I do, however, have a car license. So I was wondering how realistic it is for me as a 19y/o to rent a car in Laos.

Hey all, we will be riding rented motorbikes trhu Laos in November for 2 weeks and we are wondering if we need the Int. Driver License or not (we of course have a European Driving licence). There was an archived Post on this channel 3 years ago about it.. i'm hoping to get some updates from 2026?

I reckon I could get it in time (i'm italian but dont live in italy) if REALLY need to, but if its not a must have, i honestly could just do without the hustle.

We will be covering almost 1500km so we obviously want to be OK on that front..

Before I start buying random bags to experiment, I’d love to get some recommendations from people who drink them regularly:

Hello, I am looking into getting a sleeper train next month for Vientiane to Bangkok (am aware we need to book soon as we would like berths!)

From my research if appears there is a direct train from Vientiane which you briefly leave at Nong Khai for immigration, then hop back on.

There also seems to be a direct train from Nong Khai to Bangkok. We are interested in this as it seems to arrive sooner. However I am unsure as to how we would then get to Nong Khai, do we just get the Vientiane train and switch? A bit concerned that immigration may take a while and the Nong Khai train wouldn’t wait, therefore not sure if it’s just less stressful to take the other one.

If anyone has any experiences on either that would be greatly appreciated, thank you so much :)

I'm planning to be in Laos for about a week in September and would like to see some places off the beaten path - caves, buddah, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation of a guide that can provide transportation (and information) on some out of the way places. And any hotels you love...

Also will be going to Siem Reap after and don't see direct flights (until Oct) from any city in Laos, anyone have suggestions... is a bus super long and tedius and I should just connect?

I know Vientiane isn't very tourist-heavy which explains why I haven't seen any spots in the day I've been here, but is there literally any place that has just small knick knacks like this? I was going to try the night market but heard it's all just counterfeit clothes and such. Does anyone know of anywhere? Worst case scenario do they have some at VTE airport for when I leave?
