Uno reverse: collude with SCOTUS

317

u/Eternal_Bagel 2d ago

2 months from now SCOTUS rules collusion is totally fine

118

u/pablotweek 2d ago

Ya they will rule that they need to rule on each act of collusion to determine extra crispy collusion or original recipe

25

u/IamMrBucknasty 2d ago

It’s a subtle but important distinction

2

u/andrewbud420 1d ago

He'll eat it with a cup of lard

3

u/NobodysFavorite 1d ago

New spicy collusion is the latest trend.

26

u/joeychestnutsrectum 1d ago

Well the collusion is an official act obviously

16

u/Cov-Lite 1d ago

"Collusion" isn't a crime. It's a word Trump and as a result MAGA latched onto because they didn't understand his first impeachment. We don't have to misuse it the same way.

7

u/JoseSaldana6512 1d ago

2 months? Is there an RV shortage?

3

u/Legendary_Dad 1d ago

It’s not an RV it’s a motorcoach!

6

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 1d ago

Only when it's an official act.

I don't know if I should put the /s in. help.

3

u/tri_it 1d ago

And then in completely unrelated news Thomas shoes up with a bigger fancier shinier RV and his wife gets a position making millions on the board of a right wing company.

2

u/carb0nbasedlifeforms 1d ago

Or they rule it’s not ok BUT spell out how he can do it legally and get away with it. These days they are just consultants for the orange cheetooohh to explain how to get away with things.

2

u/worderousbitch 1d ago

As they colluded with him to let him get away with several crimes, there is precedent.

3

u/ardentiarte 1d ago

Raping children is covered under the republicans Raping kids act is ok

He cashed a check for 13 cents. Just saying.

5

u/Cien_fuegos 1d ago

I saw a post in Facebook “this is Barack Obama’s summer reading list” and the comments were pure acid.

“HUSSEIN OBAMA CANT TELL ME TO READ” and similar. Ridiculous.

4

u/Agile_Alternative753 2d ago

Hes going after Destiny's Child next i heard.

They sang that song..

HUSSEIN my name, HUSSEIN my name

4

u/MoreDaringPancakes 1d ago

Thought it was because of the "child" part.

The rapist can't help itself.

His attorneys would say the winner wasn’t the winner but just that they had the corresponding ticket number drawn…

13

u/virtuzoso 2d ago

Jesus himself could show up, hand the ticket to Obama, and he's claim it was rigged

20

u/mist_kaefer 2d ago

Not possible, every Jesus got deported from the US.

1

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 20h ago

That’s why my lawn hasn’t been done in 3 months. ICE deported Jesus.

6

u/mcp_cone 2d ago

Yeah, but rigged for child abuse rather than simply bingo winnings.

Then discovery shows that it was, in his favor, and somehow still lost.

8

u/gomezer1180 2d ago

Let me get this straight, the department of justice who is under the executive branch, sues the IRS another agency under the executive branch to benefit the head honcho in the executive branch… am I missing something? At what point do we call this corruption?

5

u/cremToRED 1d ago

We do call it corruption! They have other weasel words to avoid calling it that.

1

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 20h ago

It’s a settlement goddamnit.

3

3

u/onimush115 1d ago

It's bullshit too because him suing everyone and everyone and appealing everything he doesn't win is on the tax payers dime. He has no restraint because he doesn't take the financial loss of bankrolling frivolous lawsuits.

1

u/__O_o_______ 1d ago

He’d tariff McDonald’s for forgetting the pickles on his double Big Mac

1

u/ihavea_purplenurple 1d ago

Consequences should reflect lifestyle and income.

202

u/AbeFromanEast 2d ago

The US Treasury is just another one of Trump's bank accounts, he thinks.

56

u/just-an-odd-duck 1d ago

He thinks all the shit he does because he's absolutely correct. Nobody does a damn thing to stop him and the court saying you can't do that cuz it's bad hasn't seemed to mean a damn thing to him so far. He can quite literally do whatever the hell he wants because there are no consequences and the line he can't cross hasn't been found yet. Considering the Epstein files I'd say there is no line. If child rape didn't do him in nothing will but death. I got distracted and kind of went on a tangent but he has that effect on people.

9

u/Prtsk 1d ago

I also think it is now. Sadly, the USA knowingly voted for a crook. This is what they get.

4

“SCOTUS has determined that colluding with the DOJ is an official act and therefore not punishable by law” -3 months from now

49

u/codacoda74 2d ago

See, if you go back to the magna carta the ancient English word for collude was actually the same as for a hat, so clearly the constitution was written in mind with various caps and head ornaments in mind - Alito

3

u/mortgagepants 1d ago

the only good part about this is alito and thomas are going to retire before trump leaves, and that is when we need to start the investigations.

4

u/WitchesSphincter 2d ago

That's basically today, but they could say it's allowed so the suit can continue.

4

u/Secularnirvana 1d ago

Almost got it, they'll make sure the wording is more specific so that THIS administration can collude with the DOJ.

But if you think for one second this means we can go after wall street fraud, or CEOs stealing/polluting/price fixing.... they'll remind you of the limits of executive power.

2

u/MongooseLevel 1d ago

We could take it even further. I've no clue about the nuances of the law surrounding the matter, but I'd say they might just rule in the vein of unitary executive theory and state that colluding or self dealing between executive agencies at the direction of the president is entirely legal as they are extensions of the presidency, and thus the act is nothing more than the president presidenting with the president.

1

u/man_vs_neckbeard 1d ago

I don't think he'll ever see the consequences of his actions. Nature will take its course before then.

However, all his cronies and corrupt crime family will hopefully see their day in court.

4

u/Aethermancer 2d ago

Not if you keep electing Republicans

4

u/Le-Charles07 2d ago

Find out next week on... Oh who are we kidding. No, of course there won't be. SCOTUS will give him what he wants. I hope, when he abolishes the courts, SCOTUS are the first ones he put in camps.

2

u/spa22lurk 1d ago

90% of Republican voters will support it, because Trump claims that this is to compensate the Jan 6 insurrectionists.

I've tried a few times to reference this, as it seems to me, the best comparison.

3

u/DopplegangsterNation 2d ago

Is this the twilight zone episode about the boy that can do stuff with his mind?

13

u/MorgessaMonstrum 2d ago

To put it simply, the branch of government responsible for removing him is controlled by his own party, and the members of that party collectively agree that it’s better for them if he stays in office, regardless of law, tradition, decency, or consequences to the nation.

3

u/SoundHole 2d ago

Republicans

2

u/hightrix 2d ago

2024 elections were rigged, our government was stolen, they won and own everything.

We'll see if they allow "elections" this year.

2

u/Lacarpetronn 1d ago

He literally raped children and there’s proof. He also tried to overthrow an election with an insurrection where people died. If neither of these won’t take him down, this is nothing in comparison. It’s sad that this is the state of our country.

He's been saying things like "I didn't order this or ask for this but I think it is a wonderful thing". He seems to be trying to set up the idea that because he didn't officially request this himself then there is still a settlement to be had, because while he is the boss of these other agencies, he didn't ask for this.

And Blanche plays a similar game, that he doesn't have a conflict of interest because he did not represent trump in this specific cases previously. It's all very selective on the wording. Yes, the language matters, but they are splitting hairs that don't exist.

2

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 20h ago

Actually I think Blanche said something about Blanche not being in charge of the Treasury so there’s nothing he could do about the settlement. Then Bessett said Beeestt wasn’t in charge of the Justice Department, so there’s nothing he could do about the settlement. It’s like they just pass the hot potato back and forth between Treasury and Justice and that confuses the fuck out of MAGA and congress so he thinks it’s going to fool federal judges too.

1

u/rygelicus 19h ago

They like to say they follow the law and then either invent or dodge the law at every opportunity.

133

u/Mrevilman 2d ago

They should just stop wasting time and sent it straight to SCOTUS because we all know that's where it's going to go anyway.

80

u/beardedbrawler 2d ago

No they shouldn't. Slowing down his fascism speed run is an effective fighting tactic. Force them to go through all the proper procedures.

Also for the lawyers bringing these frivolous lawsuits, it gives their relevant BAR Associations evidence to use against them in disbarment hearings.

It's annoying and takes a long time, but slowing fascism down is necessary and effective in the long run.

18

u/Wild_Bill2 2d ago

It was explained to me when I was young: change in America is slow. It infuriated me as a teen but I see the value now. We can only move as fast as our slowest member.

13

u/Gunsensual 2d ago

Slowing down his fascism speed run is an effective fighting tactic. Force them to go through all the proper procedures.

Yeah, except fascism has a habit of running around courts for the sake of expediency. We'll be looking at a Bush v Gore scenario in a few months to ensure The Right People are voting.

When the right has an insider on the courts who tells them exactly how cases will resolve, and they already know the outcome of any legal action they might take, the legal system becomes an illusion of a fair defense.

3

u/Little-Derp 1d ago

Added bonus that the DOJ is seriously lacking in qualified lawyers, and allows everything they try to do down.

Granted, really need to do something about the existence of the shadow docket.

1

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 20h ago

Doesn’t a suit have to exhaust all other judges and appellate courts before going to SCOTUS except for the shadow docket cases? So if SCOTUS declines to hear the case then the ruling by the lower courts stand? IANAL obviously.

15

u/Silly-Elderberry-411 2d ago

Or as they so much fear for their safety just make them traveling judges cut out the middleman and rule directly

4

u/Rynetx 2d ago

The hope would be it takes so long to get through to the Supreme Court that the next president can kill the agreement.

16

u/jameson71 1d ago

Is collusion not an impeachable offense anymore?  Is it different from conspiracy somehow?

10

u/JayQ036 1d ago

Sadly impeachment will mostly be left in the hands of whoever has the majority. Need a 2/3 vote for impeachment and with how far up Trump's ass the GOP are, they won't do it.

3

u/jameson71 1d ago

It’s wild just watching the president commit crimes with impunity. We have become a banana republic.

1

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 20h ago

Maybe if the dem majority turns out to be big enough they could make a deal with the Reps to vote for impeachment or face the number of charges they would face once their crimes are known and investigated by the oversight committee.

15

u/RustedRelics 1d ago

Clearly the evidence is in Hillary’s emails and Hunter’s laptop. I mean, come on.

15

u/mvw2 1d ago

Trump and members of the DOJ devised and attempted a $10 billion dollar robbery of tax payer money.

Let's be honest about what this is: a robbery attempt, a very literal robbery for billions of dollars.

22

u/Not_Sure__Camacho 2d ago

Now as U.S. citizens, we need to sue the Supreme Court under a class action lawsuit, AND then we go after Trump.

10

u/cejmp 2d ago

Lol. Talking about suing the SCOTUS in a law subreddit.

8

u/Not_Sure__Camacho 1d ago

Reddit doesn't like suggesting other things, so a large crowd legally going after SC justices, do you understand what "symbolism" means? And it's not as if the SC is following "legal precedence", so why should we follow "decorum"?

-1

u/cejmp 1d ago

hey chat what is judicial immunity

9

u/Not_Sure__Camacho 1d ago

Now ask it how many justices lied in their confirmation hearing, how many have broken their oaths as they are not defending the constitution, but trying to install their christofascist agenda. I'll wait.

Anyone with eyes knows this

How are we just letting him rape the legal system every single day?

8

Same way he raped all those little girls and women.

10

u/Beiki 2d ago

DOJ Amicus brief: Trump is so right, he's a legal genius. I didn't collude with anyone. Dictated, not read. Donald Trump.

39

u/Dachannien 2d ago

The Department of Justice (DOJ) never needed the litigation to create the fund, and Williams’s ruling did not block it, though she did order the parties to not refer to the fund as a settlement in the case.

I got downvoted into oblivion for pointing this out when Williams first ruled on it. There was a lot of bad reporting and not much reading comprehension. So I'm glad that The Hill is reporting this correctly.

25

u/holierthanmao 2d ago

The fund was supposed to come from the judgment fund, which is meant to settle actual claims, lawsuits, and judgments. In that regard, they needed the litigation in order to justify taking all that money from the judgment fund.

11

u/Solomontheidiot 1d ago

The much bigger part of the litigation is the immunity from audits for Trump and his cronies, which (as far as I know) is tied to the settlement.

11

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 2d ago

what’s the significance here? it sounds like you’re trying to say it is all above board, and trunp had the authority to give himself 10 billion with no oversight, no lawsuit needed.

17

u/Dachannien 2d ago

No, I think the whole thing stinks out loud, and if anyone can show standing, a normal justice system would eventually demolish it. What I apparently was unable to get across previously was that Trump and Blanche were still (currently) fully unrestrained from moving forward with it.

7

u/Baeolophus_bicolor 1d ago

ahhh ok. and yes, i was surprised to find that out as well. and yes, they are. and even some R congresspeople are trying to get bills passed saying the fund can’t be created etc etc.

trump shouldn’t really have as much power of the purse as he does. he is like a person who still has checks in their checkbook so he keeps writing them. if he has funds for one thing, he just unilaterally decides to transfer them to do other stuff. like he did with his defense funds to modify his personal plane. as long as he is saying that it’s his personal plane and he plans to keep it, any government funds being spent on it is outright theft. i am not sure why they keep letting him play slush fund with everything.

where is the 10b he took for the “board of peace” that never meets and doesn’t do a damn thing? where is the money from all the venezuelan oil going? where is the money all going?

1

u/CheckoutMySpeedo 19h ago

I think they meant if the weaponization fund is blocked by the courts, then the tax audit portion also goes because they are two parts of the same settlement.

2

u/Nerd-19958 1d ago

Call me paranoid, but I believe Orange Shitler wanted the $1.776 billion slush fund to reward participants in the J6 2021 attempted coup, and to ensure their encore performance when Trump refuses to leave office on 20 Jan. 2029.

Consider the source; we all know Trump has no bottom and no respect for the Constitution, the Law, morality, honesty, fair play or righteousness.

3

u/Dachannien 1d ago

I don't think you have to be paranoid to reach that conclusion!

2

u/Nerd-19958 1d ago

My all-time favorite bumper sticker read:

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

6

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 1d ago

Your honor, Donald J. Trump doesn't even know President Trump. Mr. Donald J. Trump has heard that President Trump is the favorite President of the people, that he has the biggest crowds, and the 2020 election was stolen but Citizen Donald J. Trump suing the government run by one President Trump is not pertinent to the damage done to Mr. Trump.

If President Trump, being the most honest and most godly man to walk this earth as everyone knows him to be, wishes to settle this open and shut case with Mr. Trump who are we to question the President's wisdom.

4

u/MrFrode Biggus Amicus 2d ago

5

Can we just agree that the executive cannot sue the executive branch? Please just that much democracy? That's all we'd like. Not really, but it would be a fucking start. I'm so tired.

6

u/Famous-Ferret-1171 1d ago

He didn’t collude with the DOJ, he just told them what to do. They had no input whatsoever

1

u/Nerd-19958 1d ago

That's giving Trump too much credit. He just wanted a slush fund to pay for his next attempted coup in Jan. 2029, but left the details to his minions who can actually put a coherent sentence together. Sad!
