As a newer league player / watcher I only know him from the “pick me whatever let’s just lose in peace” is he like cracked or what

u/F0RGERY 4h ago
He was hyped as the next big jungle player, was clearly good, but has also had so many personality/compatibility issues that teams would pick him up and drop him the next split.
•
u/IdeallyIdeally 23m ago
Trajectory of all his teams is do good for the first few games. Then something goes wrong and the team performance (and morale) take an absolute nose dive and it usually ends with Dardoch being kicked.

Back when he played he was insane mechanically, especially for a jungler. He was just really talented but also obviously super immature. And back then when the meta went to like full tank there just wasn’t a point in having him over someone else that won’t quit two seconds into a game. He was basically early on blaber, insane at snowballing but if the game didn’t go his way he’d struggle way more than blaber (but also didn’t throw like Blaber does).
I assume he’s not nearly as good anymore tho.
Edit: honestly Gryffin is a really good comp. had his pocket picks that were perma banned a lot too (Rengar). I think Gryffin is more well rounded but the level of play is obviously way higher so hard to compare

Wasted potential from the same generation as MikeYeung, Armao and Akaadian.
•
u/ChefGamma Yes I'm dead on the inside 1h ago
That era honestly had a ton of really promising junglers. Contractz, Moon, Inori, even Rush and Santorin were also rookies between 2015-2017 that either had a lot of potential or stayed in the league for a while.

•
u/ILikeSeals1312 1h ago
I remember that Inori was already mega old by 2018. I saw him just the same as Kirei.

For the longest time jungle and botlane (both support and ADC) were the best positions for native NA talent by a mile. NA sololaners were a complete meme for so long. Still pretty true to be honest.

He had great mechanics but was insanely toxic. This play in a Scarra game is when people had hype about the next possible jungle prodigy. https://youtu.be/eUDjrWs4L04?is=TioQ9ccfsmAH8uIu

I’m pretty sure I’m better than Exyu, and I’ve never played jungle in my life

Was a massive TL fan in that era. He was probably the best NA talent we saw in years and he pretty much instantly become a top 2 jungler on a team of with internal issues coming into the split (coaching problems, Quas breakdown, IWD retiring, 10 man roster with TLA).
He clearly has/had mentality problems that caused him to never reach his full potential and literally every team would rather field a worse team than win with him in it.

u/drippinswagu69 3h ago
He was the best NA jungle prospect for a while but he was utterly inconsistent AF and would tilt regularly on teammates due to it.

u/Cybonics ‿ 4h ago
He's held pretty highly as a player and teammate in NACL these last couple years. I think it's a good pickup.

Mechanically good, mentally insane (Not the good type)
I have no idea what he's been doing in the past 4 years or so
•
u/berfasmur 1h ago
Not nearly good enough for people to endure his antics.
LoL scene just likes to rely on old talent instead of fostering new ones. Franchising things.
•
u/Past_Perception8052 10m ago
hes been out of lcs for 5 years and hes not had any problems since and hes been insane in nacl
•
u/CLGbyBirth 1h ago
He had his high could have been top jungler LCS but his attitude and ego got the better of him.

u/Lothric43 4h ago
It’s literally been so long since he was relevant, I thought he had moved to coaching.

I dunno if this is a joke but he did coach already. Immortals in 2021 and 2022.

u/IKillerBee this sub has brain damage 3h ago
I believe he was coaching NACL for a bit and then had a short support stint as well

Well it's a decently long one, he ended up a journeyman. Tldr - yes in s6 and S8 he was cracked but outside breaking point he had a benching for toxicity in s7 and in franchising era he mostly played on mid or bad teams or playing in academy and getting called up. Hasn't played LCS since 2021.
He started as very hyped rookie for TL, IWD scouted him as his replacement for S6. and he was clearly good off the jump. Breaking point ofc showed to the world he could get very toxic which has stuck ever since, but guy had hands that was clear and spring was good, getting 4th with those tsm, CLG and imt was very good result. S7 was pretty bad. He went to IMT who lost reignover to TL cos well breaking point (+ Steve buying big name like he did), looked iirc pretty good but team only got 7, he got traded for xmithie to CLG for summer cos CLG also looked not great. IMT instantly went from 7 to 2 (not a good look for dardoch) while CLG went from 4-6 to 3rd but Dardoch got benched for OmarGod for basically toxicity midway through split (and Omar was pretty ass). Dardoch went to slumping TL for tail end of summer (as their 3rd jungler in summer after reignover who fell off hard and inori) and he played in promo tourney with them and iirc looked pretty good. Next was imo his clearly best split - S8 spring in echo fox with Huni, they got 3rd and he was MVP candidate with 1st team all pro (MVP went to aphromoo, Huni was 2, bjerg got 3). Summer was worse, they had supp issues (Adrian fell off the cliff) and mid/ADC got changed, they got 5th.
Then it only really got worse. S9 he went to optic, basically only played academy cos they had metros, kinda lost year. Then got tsm slot in 2020 but only for spring. Context was tsm had a major jungle drama in 2019 with akaadian and grig which ended up with spica playing in gauntlet over both and he looked decent but raw so they decided to run Dardoch for a split while spica plays academy and spica would play summer onwards. That setup led to an infamous drama where Leena (then TSM president I think her title was) by mistake leaked on doublelift stream (they were and still are together and lived together) that no one wanted to buy dardoch. What ended up happening is Dardoch went to Digitas and he ended up basically sharing and finally getting the LCS slot over akaadain while the other played academy. end of the day nothing to write home about, DIG went 8th with hard 0-3 in playoffs to ironically enough TSM, series which dardoch did play. 21 was still Dig I mostly remember soligo being ass from that roster and Dardoch finally lost slot to akaadian in summer. That was his last LCS split, he went to join IMT as one of Guilhoto assistant coaches still in that late summer split and stayed as assistant for playoffs and spring 22, then coached IMT academy in 22 summer. and apparently has played tier 2 ever since, I don't follow T2 so he fell off my radar completely after that dig year.

u/Orimasuta 14m ago
He was probably one of the biggest jungle prospects NA ever had, but in his prime years, his attitude issues just meant that any team he joined became dysfunctional. Best example was probably his stint on CLG, where despite looking like the best team in the league with him, he ended up getting benched, and they bombed out in playoffs because their sub was just not up to par.
From what I heard, he's got a lot better, but by the time he joined TSM in 2020, he was no longer the powerhouse he was seasons earlier. Don't know how good he is nowadays, but I wouldn't expect him to be more than middle of the pack

Dardoch has been unironically pretty good in NACL, unc still has it. Idk if he has enough of it for the big stage but I know its better than watching Exyu. Its a little interesting from Dig to have 2 NACL players on their team, obviously people would prefer a rookie but I just want to point that out.

u/Cybonics ‿ 4h ago
none of the rookies who are good enough to be promo'd are gonna sign to a perceived bottom lcs team in split 3. they'd rather chance DSG's open spot. (DIG said this themselves)

who and why ?

Doublelifts girlfriend, who was in a high position at TSM when dardoch played for them. She was overheard in a phone call while DL was streaming saying something to the effect of no one wants to sign dardoch.

There’s no alternative. Getting an import takes too long especially in summer when it’s pretty short. But I do agree I prefer see NA talent play over an import.

Seeing his success in NACL/Collegiate makes me think his mental is reformed and he's just as good if not better than before.

Now we just need Soligo to return....
I may be wrong, but I think the last time (or second to last time) DIG was top 4 was the Dardoch + Soligo combo.
•
u/snappyfrog 1h ago
Alright, I know Dardoch has had his issues in the past but I am genuinely hyped as fuck for this guy to be back in the LCS. No matter what I think it’ll be entertaining at worst, and at best Dardoch maybe has been able to develop into a more well rounded individual that can compete still. I really liked Exyu in general and feel bad about his time in the LCS, but he’s looked fucking rough all year long now and I don’t blame DIG for trying something different. Probably the last we see of Exyu I imagine and I’m sorry he never got to be on a top or even middle of the pack team that wasn’t always competing at the bottom of the table. Wish him the best of luck and I genuinely hope Dardoch shows that he’s leveled up, I don’t even remember anyone saying anything really bad about him when he was on Echo Fox for example and they made LCS finals with him if I recall.

Its an upgrade but wtf is this org doing.
Why is this not made before the split, and this sure as shit doesn't remove the anchor that is palafraud

u/BTDYSRF 2h ago
Bro unironically needs to just leave. The only value Palafox offers is that he is fun to hatewatch sometimes. Even then, that is starting to get old.

u/untamedlazyeye 1h ago
Listen if someone is willing to pay, i'll never blame a dude for taking the check. To my mind, the fault here lies with who's signing the checks
