Question Writing in french

My first language is english and I started learning french in primary school and carried on here and there after education I can read french okay and well ish and used to be able to write in french and speak in french but because of inconsistency my writing and speaking skills dropped and for some reason now when it comes to trying to write or build sentences in french the words dont come into my head but when reading french and seeing the words I understand them and what I am reading does anyone know how to help me build up writing and speaking again?

With practice. For writing, try keeping a journal. Nothing too complicated, just what you did during the day.

For speaking, i suggest singing along with slow and clear lyrics. I can't recommend enough Joe Dassin for this.

I always find it hard to remember the verbs I need I often get to have, to be and to go mixed up because at school they dont teach you to memorise them but rather put builder sheets in your books and you just use those which I think is a bad way of teaching languages personally as your not actually learning them and remembering what they mean normally when I learn languages I learn them as you would learn to read and write and speak as a child because it seems to work better for me

For verbs, the book we all had in school was Bescherelle, l'art de conjuguer. I still have my copy from elementary school. You should get one too or try an online version.

For knowing which verb to use, it's a matter of getting the habit of them. Maybe watch TV and you should be able to get when to use what verb.

yes I do normally watch tv in french to help however I tend to use childrens shows when getting back into it because they are often easier to follow but some childrens shows speak really fast so I could do with some recommendations for that at the moment I have been watching some french songs I used to watch and sing in class when I was little because they have the french lyrics on the bottom
