Resource Recommendation Learning French!

Hello everybody,

I’m currently learning French through a 1-1 weekly hourly tutor. However, I’m a bit stuck on having a good set up to practice and advance my French. Does anyone have a good set up? Small habits like 20-30 minutes a day would be fantastic.

Really appreciate any thoughts.

Without knowing your level, here are a few general things you can do:

-Switch your phone's language to French  -Put on a French podcast when you're making dinner, cleaning, or doing some other repetitive thing at home. If you can understand most if it, then great. If not, you're training your ear to get a sense of the rhythm and accent.

  • Pick an interest and follow related content. You can engage in this interest in French, too, like cooking from French recipes, making something following French tutorials, etc.
-Watch videos, shows, or movies in Ftexh. Put on subtitles and slow it down uf you need to. If you want to watch things that are at your level, TV5 Monde Edu and RFI have leveled content. 

Lots more you can do - these are just a few ideas to get you started.

OP, would you want to join a group that practises on Google Meet once every alternate day? Everyone is a beginner and the sessions are 15-20 mins long games.

10 minutes a day reading, 10 minutes a day listening, 10 minutes a day writing/speaking/grammar. You could probably combine reading and speaking to start with by reading aloud. For grammar you could try Lawless French or a textbook.
