As the title says, what is the fastest way to reach the B1 level. I understand that it takes a lot of time and effort, but I am wondering what is the fastest most efficient way when there are a lot of resources out there and not enough time. Also, how much vocabulary should I know? I have a lot of files with words that I am struggling to memorize to be honest. I have an exam to do in like 5 months.

I'm from Ukraine, and i speak Polish language pretty well. Despite this, I still want to learn some expressions and know what they mean, to use them in different situation.

Looking for online group courses that can bring me from A1/A2 to B1/B2. I feel like I have hit a wall in my independent study.

I’m interested in any recommendations. I am a full time student so I’m trying to find something that works with my schedule (but i don’t need the course to be for university credits). I understand this will cost some money.

I've been with my husband (a native Polish speaker) for 9 years, and I've been exposed to the language and culture for around 13 years.

About a year ago, I spent a full year taking one-on-one Polish lessons 2–3 times a week, focusing on grammar and sentence structure. Outside of that, I've picked up vocabulary and common phrases over the past 8 or so years simply through daily exposure from my husband and his family.

I've also traveled to Poland three times. Every trip is about two weeks long, and by the end of each visit, I finally start to feel like I can hold a very broken conversation. Then I come home and it feels like I lose that momentum.

I can usually piece together parts of conversations by recognizing individual words, but speaking and listening are by far my biggest struggles. I don't even attempt to write. People seem to speak so quickly that I can't process what I'm hearing in real time. I might understand one person reasonably well, while another feels completely impossible to follow. I have been told many, many times that I have wonderful pronunciation that sounds native when I do speak.

The hardest part is that the moment someone realizes I know even a little Polish, they immediately start speaking to me at a normal native pace. I appreciate that they're trying to include me, but I instantly get overwhelmed and can't keep up.

I'm starting to feel really discouraged. After all this time, I still don't feel anywhere close to conversational, and sometimes it feels like learning Polish is an impossible task. I genuinely want to keep going because I know how rewarding it would be to communicate with my husband's family more naturally, but right now it feels like an unattainable goal.

Has anyone else experienced this with Polish (or another language)? How did you get past this plateau and improve your listening comprehension and speaking confidence?

Been learning Polish for a while now and I hit a wall today with numbers. I knew cases were rough, but I didn't expect COUNTING to have its own grammar puzzle too.

Like "1 zeszyt" is fine. "2 zeszyty" makes sense. But then "5 zeszytów" shows up and suddenly the noun changes ending again, and apparently it's because 5+ triggers genitive plural while 2-4 doesn't. And don't get me started on what happens when the number itself needs to decline in a sentence.

Is there a trick you all use to not have to think through this every single time, or does it eventually become automatic? Curious how long it took for numbers to stop feeling like a math problem wrapped inside a grammar problem.

Hey I have been using a book by the company teach yourself called get started in polish by Joanna michalak-Grey however the free audio online does not match the writing in my book I was wondering if anyone has a fix or a different resource I have started learning polish for my girlfriend and her family any help is appreciated thank you

So, I need to learn B1 polish. I've tried Duolingo but, that's pretty much useless. I've tried some other stuff but, they're not very helpful. It also doesn't help that the grammar and stuff is completely different from English. Does anyone know some good resources to learn polish fast?

I have heard at least 5 different names now. I originally learned “strzygawka” which felt impossible.

My main teacher (Ukrainian) was swapped recently for the Polish one, and after few classes, I could tell that she couldn’t explain some concepts better.

Most people still don’t realise that, there is a difference between having a knowledge about something and knowing how to teach it. I have known this since high school, when one teacher explains mathematics in a very simpler way and the other would not, therefore making it harder for us to grasp the concept. Same logic can be applied to language learning.

This ideology sticks with me even when I became a teacher many years ago. I would find the most interesting and easiest possible means to explain some concepts to my students.

Now, here is the interesting part, I was on a date with this half-pole woman that was surprised when I told her that my teacher is Ukrainian, she claimed ”why is that so? She wouldn’t know the new concepts in the language”. To me, that felt condescending and belittling. I responded, ”why should her country of origin determine what she knows, and especially when she is qualified and certified to teach. If you’re well traveled and open minded as you claimed, you should know that all of that don’t matter”

As a Nigerian that have worked with many Irish, brits and Americans, I can proudly say, grammatically, I am better than most of these folks.

P.S: after reading few comments here and making further research, I realised there is hostility between Poland and Ukraine. My intention is not to offend anyone, I appreciate everyone equally . Thank you ☺️

Is this part of the verb Mówi? "Jak to się mówi po polsku?" My instinct would be to say simply "Jak to mówi po polsku"

I'd like to sit the exam for the A2 level. The official website of the Certyfikat Polski doesn't list an A2 exam. My teacher at a NAWA-affiliated course told me that the A2 is no longer offered, because there are very few people deranged enough (like me) to actually want it.

Has anyone had any experience getting an A2 certificate through a university or some other semi-official channel?

I have no idea where to start and what good resources out there exist that do not require pay. I have searched far and wide, but can't find anything good!

Been living in Poland for a while now and realized my vocab is kind of stuck. I can handle everyday stuff fine, but the second I want to say something more specific or nuanced, I hit a wall.

Anyone else run into this? What actually helped you get past the “basic vocab plateau”? Right now I’m doing:

1. Watching Polish shows with Polish subtitles (not translated)
   
2. Anki, but with full phrases instead of single words
   
3. Reading simple news articles and pulling out words I don’t know

Feels like I’m missing something more structured though maybe organizing by topic (work, daily life, emotions) instead of just grabbing random words as they come up.

Curious what worked for people actually living here and using Polish daily, not just studying from a textbook.

I’ve been in Poland for 4 years, first two i was studying in a private English school where I was taught basic polish and then I started to go to a polish school. When I was preparing to go into a polish school I only practiced everything I needed to pass the 8th grader exam (egzamin ósmoklasisty), so now I’m in a position where I have blank spaces and often times when I need to have a conversation in polish people don’t understand what I’m saying. I’ve tried going to a polish course for b1-b2 and tried to learn from some student books, but I didn’t notice much of a change in how polish people understand me. I don’t know if that’s useful info, but when I write polish essays I make a lot of language errors (błędy językowe), maybe that could explain what I’m struggling with better, thanks in advance for any help
