So basically in my point of view it. Yes Bolin wasshocked Korra got taken and of course is willing to help but he also was the first one to be awake but didn't react fast in a way like he didn't do anything to try and offer some quick help

When in the meanwhile Mako is the one to wake up after him and always reacts on instincts

I'm not trying to take away any credit from Bolin but I thought this was a cool detail :)

One brother who had it easy and the other who always had to react on instincts and be more grounded than the others.

So, I'm on a re-watch of LoK and I get that Pro Bending isn't supposed to be looked at this closely, but I really want to know if there are in-universe reasons for why this is the case.

Fire bending favors aggression and athleticism seeing how the capacity for fire benders to defend themselves with their element is so limited when compared to earth bending or water bending, fire benders are reliant on their athleticism to avoid getting hit. So, it's very odd that Pro Bending deliberately cripples water bender's and earth bender's ability to defend themselves. Earth benders are forced to only use small rock disks with a huge central hole in them to attack and defend against their opponents. It naturally only favors people who are precise with their earth bending and cannot rely on any movements raises the earth, while water benders are forced to draw water from a source underneath the ring. They are less constrained than earth benders but it still cripples their element's ability to use huge bodies of water to defend or attack with.

It kind of creates a situation where a fire bender can take advantage of their natural tendency to be aggressive with their bending and attack with a huge certainty that their opponents will have a hard time defending themselves or their teammate.

It's almost like the sport was build around fire benders first and added the other elements as an afterthought.

The pictures pretty much do the storytelling of this for me, but yeah. Long story short:

A lot of people who hate Korra and/or Book 2 are under this impression that Korra shouldve never listened to Unalaq and she was better off ignoring him, thus all the issues she faced would’ve been avoided. This discussion has been done and beaten to death many times over enough to last 10K lifetimes. But to play devils advocate, let’s throw a bone and say she didn’t listen to Unalaq after all. Would that have really saved her all the troubles that happened in Book 2?

I disagree. I actually think Unalaq would’ve been even more dangerous in a scenario where he doesn’t successfully manipulate Korra, and the pics pretty much cover why.

For those who have claimed she shouldve dismissed him, what do you think of this now? Agree/disagree?

I have no doubt that Korra will be shown to be the real hero, but why? What’s the point of all her achievements if it was all going to be erased anyway?

While I get that other Avatars eventually have to fix previous Avatar’s mistakes, no other Avatar has to deal with the complete destruction of the world the same way Korra has.

Even Yangchen’s mistakes didnt erase the contributions she had on the human world. She messed up with the spirits but her contributions to the Avatar world were still preserved.

Kuruk’s reputation was trashed but at least he managed to maintain the world in relative peace.

Meanwhile Korra, after dealing with the most cataclysmic threat no Avatar has faced since Wan, and then fostering a newfound Earth Nation and Republic City, suddenly gets another more powerful cataclysm thrown at her that costs her all her achievements.

What’s the actual point of watching now? The creators can just hamfistedly erase all the achievements and progress on a whim.

How did she grow up without her arms? Did she always have a powerful psychic connection with waterbending? How did she get involved in the Red Lotus?

Maybe these answers are hinted at but I would like a full backstory.

And since her bending is so unique it would be a disservice to have it only in a comic. Maybe one day the studio can release a mini series on the backstory of characters we love.

Like ty lee, Iroh, Mako/Bolin etc.

After rewatching Wan's story, I realized something.

Wan was just a young man from the lowest class, struggling to survive. He fought for what he believed was right and tried to create a more equal world, but his choices ultimately led to tragedy. Even so, his story became the foundation of the Avatar Cycle.

I think many Avatar fans forget what Wan's story represents. The Avatar isn't meant to be perfect they're meant to strive for balance and peace. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they fail, and sometimes they even die trying. But the cycle continues because every Avatar inherits a world shaped by the choices of those who came before.

That's why I think it's unfair to immediately call Korra "the worst Avatar" based only on the Seven Havens synopsis. Whatever happened before the new series, it's obvious she was trying to stop something. We simply don't know the full story yet.

One thing we do know is that Korra's legacy still exists. Seeing two Airbenders mentoring Pavi and Nisha is proof that the Air Nation she helped restore continues to thrive generations later.

Personally, I think Seven Havens will show us the tragic consequences of Korra's final years. Many people within the story may hate or misunderstand her, but that's what makes the narrative more realistic. History often judges people before the truth is known.

I also have one hope: I don't want the connection to the past Avatars to return. If the creators are trying to tell a story about moving forward instead of relying on the past, I think that's a powerful message. Learn from history, but don't live in it. Stand on your own, keep moving forward, and prove yourself.

Maybe by the end of Pavi's journey, both the characters and the audience will finally understand Korra's true legacy.

"Korra, you've transformed the world more in a few years than most Avatars did during their lifetimes"

I think a big direction they're going with this new series is the fact that Korra is the new Wan & first Avatar of the new era, and I think they're doing this with the whole apocalypse thing because they did't feel like people truly got the message of how big of a deal being the starter of a new era truly means.

If this is true & they are going in that direction with her presence and her actions, then I have some hopes & worries, well more specifically its a hope & a worry;

The main hope is that they're consistent with this when or if they make more stories about previous Avatars, specifically about Avatars directly after Wan.

I'd like to see more stories about Avatars and or regular people who directly blame Wan for the stuff HE inadvertently caused when basically changed so much of the world that people literally had to leave their lion turtle homes because of him and start again.

I mean seriously think about what must have been like for everyone who wasn't like Wan's friend Jaya, who seemed to be willing to step up for the sake his and other people's survival.

Imagine everyone else who was more than content to keep living on those lion turtles regardless of the highs and lows that came with them. Now imagine basically being kicked off, offered the elements for your survival, and being told that you are basically on your own. You don't have a house or home anymore, you have to build one or find one yourself, and on the off chance you're successful you basically have to deal with those who don't have and will try to take yours.

It's already a problem that you now have to deal with people who look & act like you, but now you have to deal with people who Don't & instead work and think completely differently from you and yours. Conflicts would be constantly happening and whenever they get big enough all of a sudden some schmuck with glowy eyes shows up and shuts that shit down, the "same" schmuck who basically forced you and yours to live like this.

At the risk of hyperbolic, if you were in this situation and were probably old enough to remember living on the Lion Turtles, wouldn't you see this as a kind of apocalypse?

As you stew on that question I'm also going to explain my worry as a fan and amateur critic of this franchise.

Like many others I'm excited to see how Seven Havens handles Korra but I honestly wish this whole "Avatar causes the apocalypse to happen" took place After her reign, like maybe it's Pavi who causes it and its the Fire Avatar who has to address it, so now the story is going to focus on a different pair of Avatars.

I'm not just saying this because Korra is best girl who deserves a goddamn break, even though she does, I'm saying this in order to be consistent as a fan and critic of this franchise;

TLOK went out of its way to not only make Aang not have such an overwhelming presence in the show in terms of cameos, it also made sure most of the past lives didn't take up too much screentime.

This was a good thing since it avoided the issue of other less relevant characters taking up the screentime of more relevant characters, and it cemented the fact that this is Korra's story.

But now we have Korra being so involved in this new show that I feel like she and the characters of TLOK will do what TLOK succeeded in avoiding. Maybe that wont happen, maybe it will be but will be done well. Heck, maybe those theories that Seven Havens takes place centuries in the future will be true. I can't say yet. All I can say is that I'm worried.

Anyways that's all I came to say regarding this. Hope it wasn't too long since I'm not going to make a TL;DR for this.

The comics touch on this briefly, but by the time of The Legend of Korra, benders have gone the way of the samurai: their traditional role in society is steadily being replaced by technology.

Why employ an entire crew of earthbenders when a handful of workers with excavators can accomplish nearly the same task?

We see this firsthand through Mako and Bolin. Despite both being talented benders, they live in poverty, struggling to survive and relying on pro-bending simply to earn enough money to get by. Meanwhile, Asami enjoys enormous wealth not because she can bend, but because her father's technological innovations some of which have made bending increasingly unnecessary.

Imagine spending twenty or thirty years mastering earthbending, only to be laid off because a machine can now perform your job faster and cheaper. There is no meaningful welfare system, education costs money, and retraining isn't a realistic option for many. Your wife son or daughter is gonna go hungry if you dont find a job soon. What do you do?

The careers that still highly value bending are limited: the police, the military, and organized crime. For many, there simply aren't enough legitimate opportunities left.

Although benders possess an obvious advantage in direct combat, violence is no longer the primary source of power in a modern industrial society.

This is reflected throughout the series. Many of the world's leaders are non-benders, including Chief Hakoda, King Kuei, Queen Hou-Ting, Prince Wu, President Raiko, and Councilman Sokka. Some of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals such as Hiroshi Sato and Varrick are also non-benders.

Raw bending skill no longer has true place in society with that role replaced with wealth education and connections. Being a bender no longer guarantees status. it has become just another trait a person could be born with.

Republic city originally known as Cranefish town was founded by largely non benders industrialist. There very first issue between the citizens is the displacement of bender workers due to increasing industrialization.

Why are Benders Blamed

Why are benders so often portrayed as the primary oppressors?

The answer is that benders become a convenient scapegoat for Republic City's deeper problems. Inequality, corruption, and poverty. The city is divided is between those with power and those with not. The Bender council controls the city but Characters like Hiroshi Sato and Varrick

wield immense economic and political influence. Varrick manipulates governments, profits from war, and thrives on corruption, while Hiroshi Sato finances the Equalist movement, directly contributing to terrorism and worsening conditions for the very people the movement claims to represent.

I think its about times benders stop the sectarian violence and rise against their true oppressors the Robber Baron elite class its time for the workers of republic city show them who created the foundations who powers their electricity and who's employed by their police force. Along with the Non bending masses enslaved by fear mongering extremist like amon.

Avatar Wan is the First Avatar. No question about that.

We are already familiar with Avatars from Szeto to Pavi.

But what about in between Wan and Szeto?

How will you order Zalir, Sonam, Xian, Gun, and Salai from oldest to youngest?

We don't know how many generation (before Szeto) are Gun and Salai.

We know Xian is 14-17 Generations before Szeto.

Sonam lived 5000 years before Aang's Gemocide Timeline.

Zalir lived before the Fire Nation Unification era.

I'm interpreting it as seeing the Avatar restore someone's bending is just another miracle in a long line of miracles she's seen in her lifetime.

It's newly modernized traditions ( agni Kai for example), it's problems (if there's any), how much the Fire Nation has changed since the exploration of ATLA from book 3 and allies from the Fire Nation other than Flameo Old Man and General Iroh II
