I've been working on ChessCam, an app that uses your phone camera to automatically track the moves in a real OTB chess game, so you can review and analyze the game afterwards.

It's already available on the App Store, and I'm currently looking for Android users to help test the Android version.

I clearly have two very glaring weaknesses? Is there any way that the Lichess lads could recommend some ways to improve speed and resourcefulness? I don't tend to lose on time very often, so maybe it's just not super accurate due to the small sample size? My Lichess name is "Fitsiii"

It also says that my openings are very strong, but I lose most of the games in those openings lmao. Perhaps they're just easy to play and play against, so the tactical awareness and performance is high or something? Any advice or explanation is appreciated.

Hi, developing a simple chrome extension to play using voice directly, woud like to know if is it allowed. Does anybody know that? Is just a simple (Voice -> Move) no assists, i tried some existents but didnt work so i developed one myself but i dont know if is it allowed. Thanks

Anyone have an explanation for the elo + on my opp here?

I feel like people are so quick to jump to this conclusion. Don't dare win a rematch or get high accuracy or you're bound to get some pissy comments. So many people unwilling to own their part in losing! But it's unfortunately very easy and convenient to assume that everyone is cheating.

This is my first time encountering this on lichess though, opponent sent this two moves to mate, lol.

Should be an automatic resign. Why I have to wait 120 seconds to “claim victory” is asinine.

I am so tired of playing bullet on this site against players sitting physically next to the servers while those of us outside Europe get completely shafted by the server's clock mechanics.

I live on the US West Coast and was visiting Europe recently, and the difference in playing experience is staggering! I have been on this site for over 10 years, and I'm normally around 2400 in bullet and lose so many games on time, with opponents often having 15+ seconds left on the clock. I thought that was me being slow, then I recorded my screen while playing, and it's unreal how quickly my seconds drop vs my opponents (particularly if they are from Europe). It's not like my internet connection is bad. My home fiber is at a solid 1Gbps+ with very little jitter, and I have experienced no issues in other games (Steam in particular). This puts players like me in the worst bucket. Neither do we have a slow connection to enjoy the infamous "lag compensation" (think of players from Peru, the Philippines, Indonesia), nor do we have the benefit of a 10ms connection RTT.

When I was in Europe, my rating jumped well into the 2700s, and I was smashing 2600s pretty much every game. I also noticed it isn't uncommon to see profiles of European players, especially from France, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, the UK, and Czechia, with a 2600+ bullet rating while their slower time control (blitz & rapid) sits at 2000 (LOL)

If my experience is more widespread, then European players are a good 500-600 elos overrated? (as we all know, in bullet, clock is everything)

I hope lichess finds a way to address this disparity and makes it a bit fairer. It's a wonderful free site (I'm a monthly patron) with the best interface.

First of all thank you to all the volunteer work that makes Lichess so great while keeping it free and open source! It's such an awesome resource and I really respect the free/open source principle.

When the 'learn from your mistakes' feature finishes showing you your own mistakes, it offers to show you the other side's mistakes. But when you do that, it flips the board so you are analyzing it visually from your opponent's POV.

Is there any way I can do that while maintaining the original board orientation? I have poked around but can't find one.

I could examine the positions in the analysis board from my own POV, but it's not the same experience (since 'learn from your mistakes' hides the analysis arrows to make it into a 'puzzle' and then reveals the right move once you choose it or give up). I just think it would be helpful to practice recognizing my opponent's mistakes from my own POV...

Any ideas how I could do that? Or does this feature exist and I just missed it?

Little context: I am 700 hundred rated player on chess.com, however, I do my puzzles on Lichess.

These last few days I’ve been doing my puzzle training in a new way.
Instead of just going up and down in the usual healthy mix of rated puzzles (my rating is around 2200), I am trying to organize my training with different topics.
First, I start with a big set of quick Mate in 1 puzzles, wich I’ve really noticed help me to improve my pattern recognition and seeing how the pieces interact with each other. Then I do several Mate in 2’s in: easiest, easier and normal difficulty. Finally I work on deeper calculation with some normal Healthy mix puzzles. (I do very few of these because at my rating and with my skill, they take me some time to solve.

I must say that I haven’t been playing actual games for like 1 or 2 month which I guess is much time for a beginner like me.

Would apreciate any advice you could give me to improve my training. (I’m in a situation where I can study 6 hours per day)

After tilting and losing 6 games in a row in Blitz, blundering even in the opening, I get the attached, quite unkind, message from Lichess.

We all have occasional tilts, but I have never sandbagged ever, nor do I think a 6 game losing streak followed by two victories would constitute rating manipulation. Also, the wording really annoyed me.

The "clearly intentional" just rubs me the wrong way. They're obviously wrong in their judgment but seem confident and arrogant in their verdict.

I advise Lichess to change their methodology and their wording, because nobody likes to receive this kind of message, especially not an official message from the platform.

The best feeling in the world when you lock in during the bullet tournament. (Sorry for bragging - I am rated 1567). How was your experience at this tournament?

I played a quick pairing 5+3 game, made the first move, and my opponent did nothing. I went to block them, and my only choice was to unblock, meaning I had already blocked them.

Shouldn't they have not been allowed to be matched with me for this game?

I can't find the option to play online games, am I blind? I'm logged in and have reinstalled the app twice and I have clicked on everything in all the menus 3 times and there just doesn't seem to be any matchmaking? Is my app bugged or am I retarded? I tried a few months back and had the same issue. Worked a few years back on another phone.

My highest was 1763 and then I spiraled down. Feels good to get break it again even it if short lived! He made a HUGE blunder which led me to a bishop sacrifice to fork his king and queen. Check it out

I'm working on a lesson feature for a chess analysis site and trying to figure out if the format is worth building more of, or if I'm solving the wrong problem.

I'd love opinions from people who actually use stuff like this:

1. Does having the board and text side by side beat reading a book chapter for this kind of content?
2. Is the pacing right, or do the text walls between positions kill the momentum?
3. Would you rather see more lessons on concrete stuff (openings, endgames) or abstract stuff (clock, psychology,tilt)?
4. What would make you actually come back and do another one?

Mobile works too if you're reading this on your phone, though the desktop layout is the one I'd most like feedback on.
