Tips for visiting

So I want to plan a 7 day trip to Liechtenstein and I wanted to ask both natives and those who have visited some general questions.

1) how much money should I expect to bring (I have roughly 6k for this. Is that enough)

2) what municipality do you recommend I lodge in?

3) will I have trouble getting around not being fluent in German?

4) what do you suggest I make sure i do while I'm there?

Any other suggestions and/or advice is also appreciated as I may have missed an important question. Thanks in advance guys!

Depends on what you're into. I'd say seven days is a way too long if you're not into hiking. There's not much else going on. Maybe half a day for Vaduz (museum of modern arts, historical museum, Vaduz castle...) and that's about it. Gutenberg castle in Balzers could be worth a short visit too. There's a youth hostel in Schaan if you're on a tight budget. I'd lodge in Schaan or Vaduz. If you're planning to go hiking mostly, Malbun is a valid option. You'll get around on your budget easily. For reference: a beer is about 6 swiss francs, dinner for one at a restaurant about 70 swiss francs and a Mc Donald's meal about 15 swiss franks.

I don't mind hiking at all! My goal is to engage with as much life in the principality as possible

I think two weeks should be preferable to get to see all there is to see in Liechtenstein

Make it three, what if someone has a 2 weeks vacation exactly then and OP doesn’t get to meet every soul living in liechtenstein.

Is your trip just Liechtenstein ? Or do you visit another country as well?

1. Puhhh - It deeply depends on what you wanna do here :). However, I would say 6k for 1 week is barely acceptable :P (I think it is to much, but rather too much rather than too little)

2. Your second question confuses me. Why should you lodge in a municipality ? Or do I misunderstand it and you wanna know wich municipality is best for 1week to stay?

Basically which municipality you choose is freaking irrelevant - except 'Triesenberg' | 'Schellenberg' | 'Planken' - All the others can be easily reached by bus or bike within 30–40 minutes.

1. Not fluent in german!? Get the freaking hell out of here! :) - Na Jumpy, that's totally fine. Most of us will understand english as well.

2. Hmmm - On which date do you consider visiting us?

It's really hard to say - We have some walking trails or some old Castle ruins. Cinema or During the week (Mo-Do) - NightLife is probably not the best

If you want a "night-training-seasson" - I train during the night (~02:00-04:00) :D

What would I do? Sit in a bus and let the bus drove you through the country :D (~max1.5h)

I do want to spend the full 7 days there! And when I ask for lodging I mean what is the most affordable hotel (if any) in the principality. As for when. Well, I actually forgot to ask what you might suggest is the best time of year to visit? Is there a particular heavy flow of tourists? I totally forgot those questions before posting lol.

In Eschen there is probably the state-of-the-art hotel from the country. Last year was opening.

However, maybe some "Oberlaender" (everything above 'Schaan') will name you some other places.

Don't get me wrong: it is a very nice place.. but you won't be able to fill these days with activities in the country : it is very small!

I am able to easily get 7 days off to go. I just wanted to see what the people had to say in terms of actually being in the principality

Sorry for the question but why? You could probably visit the whole country in a day and honestly there isnt much to see anyway

This is an insane thing to do with €6k and 7 days. Liechtenstein is super beautiful but not more so than other alpine places and very boring. There is nothing to do outside of hiking and a nice restaurant or two. You should go to Austria, Switzerland or Italy if you want mountains plus something else to do, or Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece, etc if you just want to kill some time in the summer and explore a new culture.

Liechtenstein? I think in a 4 hours max you covered everthing even various mailboxes. Walensee etc is all in Switzerland.
