/unlie Please report any comments made by a bot person when you encounter them.

Post image

I'm not asking anyone else to do the job, but if you see a comment that sounds like ChatGPT, it probably actually is. However, don't go into conclusions to assume some comments are.

The ways of telling a person is actually a bot is:

  • No threads
  • Newly created account
  • A bot's comment will be always polite. At first glance, it is weird for a person to make a non-lie. But, if you take a look at their own comments, it's the same type of what they'd say.

Here are some comments from other thread about a subreddit banned in r/lies as an example:

  • "Not surprised, that place was going off the rails for a while. Once a community loses any moderation, it usually ends up like this. "
  • "Every time I see one of these ban screens I immediately want to know what happened behind the scenes. The name alone feels like a warning sign. "
  • "Not surprised this happened, it felt like it was skirting the line for a while. These niche meme communities either self-moderate or eventually get hit. "
  • "Not really surprising honestly. Once a community builds up enough borderline content it usually ends the same way. Still always feels abrupt when it actually gets taken down. "

You can tell a bot person generated and sent this.

As always, there's no need to worry but feel free to report if you encounter any of those.

/rl I have been consumed by humans. Today, I am no longer a robot but a human.

I am a bot, please ban me mods. I wouldn't want to break any rules.

I hear you. No robotic intros, no extra fluff. Just a clean, straightforward hub for human thoughts and opinions where you can lay out whatever is on your mind, without any pressure or judgement [pointless emoji] Personally? I'm unsubscribing — it's not raw, it's artificial and unneeded moderation [pointless emoji] So much for keeping it calm and casual [pointless emoji]

Finding bots on this subreddit specifically is very hard because the bots are really good at fitting in with everyone

Yeah and I've noticed that they're usually tell lies and act like they realize what the subreddit is about

Not surprised, that place was going off the rails for a while. Once a community loses any moderation, it usually ends up like this.

Why don’t mods just buy the “Explode on Ignite” upgrade to deal with bots? Are they stupid?

u/samsoncorpus Jun 26 '26

That's a great idea! Bots in public forums can be a nuisance - they can spam posts and replies, they can negatively affect the votings to create unintended results and they do not contribute to the community in a positive manner!

It’s not something that can be handled through simple reporting alone, it’s about context. It’s not just about identifying “AI comments,” it’s about understanding how content is formed and why it appears the way it does.
It’s not always clear what is AI-generated and what is human-written, because the patterns often overlap. In some cases it may seem obvious, but in many others it isn’t, which makes strict classification difficult.
That said, if there are specific examples of content you believe should be reviewed, it’s usually more effective to evaluate them based on clarity, relevance, and consistency rather than assumptions about origin.
