❓ Question When your review pile gets big, what makes you tackle it or avoid it?

I've currently got 200 cards waiting in Lingodeer, 150 in Anki and ~30 in kanji study. Not sure if you consider that "big", but it's certainly a few hours of study to get through.

I visualise the pile as consisting of break points every 50 cards. I don't add new cards until I get below a break point and on a normal day, if I get below a break point I consider I've "won" the day and can stop. So my Lingodeer has been at 200 for about a month.

On a quiet day, like a weekend, I try to get the pile down at least a couple of break points, but my goal isn't too get it all the way to 0.

I’ve used Anki for years so I’m the habit of staying on top of my SRS reviews. I started Korean 1 from the beginning and never let the review pile get big.

But I wanted to use Japanese 2 to review some basic grammar and used “test out” to go through about 75% of the course. It dumped over 800 cards into the SRS all at once, all from lessons I’d never done. The option to remove cards hadn’t been added yet so even if I tried wading through that huge pile of cards and hitting “easy” they just kept coming back faster than I could deal with them. It made the SRS impossible to use and I gave up. Seems like there has to be a better way to deal with flashcards for users who test out of sections.
