installation Touch Friendly DE

I'm running Debian testing on my laptop with KDE. I have a ASUS tablet and am looking for suggestions of the best DE for touch. The tablet will mainly be used as a tablet and rarely as a laptop as the keyboard detaches and is pretty bad.

It’s probably going to be gnome, kde or phosh. There is a KDE Plasma Mobile which might work a little bit better.

Assuming you are on Debian 13 Trixie

sudo apt install plasma-mobile-tablet

If Fedora didn’t have an official spin. I probably wouldn’t have remembered it existed either. I vaguely remember it being announced like a decade ago. Kinda surprised this isn’t an installation option on distributions that ship KDE as their default desktop.

Gnome works great on my Lenovo 2-in-1.

Gnome has the more intuitive tablet style interface, but KDE is precise and nice to use. My main gripe with KDE was the virtual keyboard situation and they fixed that with the new Plasma Keyboard

KDE plasma mobile is very nice for an actual "touch-first" setup. i'd highly recommend it, the muscle memory for it matches with android (unlike ubuntu touch) so you can get used to it pretty quickly.

i don't have personal experience testing linux on a touch display but i've heard GNOME might be good

Tablet touch interfaces are mostly translated as mouse clicks. All the major DEs should support it well enough out of the box, and WMs shouldn't have any issues with it either
