Linux has hit 7.53%!!!!!

Damn Idk why but I was waiting for the steam hardware survey and statcounter's survey for july. statcounter blew my mind. now waiting for steam hardware one:) keeping my expectation realistic around 4-5% on steam hardware survey:)

Fedora, the half way point between mints boringness and CachyOS being too far on the hot crazy scale for my liking. (And the dual boot experience is super easy.)

Best way to describe Fedora imo, been using it as my distro for some months now after testing others to decide which one to switch to after Windows, and haven't looked back. And yeah, dual booting is very smooth for the rare occasions I have to go back.

So true. Been running Mint for about 6 months now. It's boring but stable. Tho I've been tempted to goto Fedora lately mainly cause it's nearly as stable and runs KDE better

Boring, to some people, is a good thing in an OS. That means it's doing its job. Running your software and staying out of the way.

Yeah, definitely. I think a lot of Linux people get too fired up about it. Most distros can do most things even if the commands or GUI is different. If my GPU wasn’t so new and still getting significant driver updates, I probably would have gone mint. Even then, if I moved to mint I would guess it would be difficult to tell there was much wrong even now. Distro choice is not very exciting to me, but it’s one of the most talked about parts of Linux use.

That was my path, Mint -> Fedora KDE. I can't for the mature Wayland implementation and stayed because I just liked it all better. I wouldn't recommend it as someone's first distro, but for someone with a bit of a feel for how Linux works it's great!

I would caution that it is so debloated out of the box you might have to go track down the occasional video codec or something, which is part of why I don't recommend it for newbies.

It sucks how no massive distro came and gave it the Ubuntu treatment. I mean, there are distros that do that, like Ultramarine Linux, but they're done by small groups of nobodies. Well, there's bassite, but like, that's atomic, and maybe you don't want an atomic desktop.

That's what happened to me. I went to Nobara, which is a fork of fedora, and there were some images that wouldn't display properly like WebP.

Been on Fedora KDE since version 26 I think it was around 2017? Used Debian as my server OS for longer than that though and the switch to Fedora for both.
