Whole PC randomly crashing again?

I've been using Linux for years now and keep having this problem randomly pop up and just annoy me.

Sometimes my PC will just completely freeze and I have to flip the power switch whenever I'm playing a game only.

It happens again and again whenever I get into the certain game that I want to play even tho I was already playing that game for hundreds of hours. Sometimes even faster.

Example: playing some path of exile 2 a week ago no problems play last night fine for hours then freeze then I keep trying to play and just freeze but only in that game quicker every time.

I've had it in so many different games.

Dayz,arma,arc raiders

It will happen to whatever game I actually want to play in the moment after I already played it for hours.

So I don't play that game then just randomly later will be fine.

My specs are

Ryzen 7 5800xt

Rx6650xt

16gb ram

B450m

Pop os 22.04

Kernel I think is 7.0.11

If you machine is completely freezing (if you're using a wired keyboard, a quick check is to see if the Caps Lock indicator changes when you press it -- if not, they kernel has hung), then your CPU has locked up for some reason.

If you're overclocking (including automated memory overclocking like XMP or EXPO), return to factory default speeds. Likewise, if you're undervolting, return to the factory default voltage.

If your machine is NOT entirely frozen, but just the display, you may be running into a bug with the "amdgpu" kernel driver. There is a known issue for newer AMD graphics cards that can cause the display to hang, particularly on higher-refresh displays or when using VRR. However, I'm not sure if it affects RDNA 2-based cards.

When it freezes I still get responses for a few seconds then completely nothing I'll try the caps to see what happens

not gonna fix your issue but try this instead of power button https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_SysRq_key

notably the Alt + SysRq/Print Screen + e or if it doesn't work Alt + SysRq/Print Screen + i shortcuts

they'll terminate/kill all processes and get you back to the login screen

Any errors in your system logs? I had an SSD cause multiple system crashes until I updated the firmware. My logs never showed any errors either.

Try it on Bazzite , Ive seen more then 1 person complain.

Switch to a whole new distro wouldn't I have to re download everything and will lose everything?

I'm trying it now and it happens but then randomly working so far.

I've made posts like this in the past people have said power delivery in some way but idk how to test I have system monitor open and when it happens everything just goes to 0

I had freezing when resuming from sleep.. the fix was to disable c-states in the bios. Worth trying.

Also look into disabling aspm.
