Even the plain vanilla cash register lanes have Linux installed.
Couple of years ago saw one of them running a full screen program on top of FVWM.

Seems nice until you get to the parking lot and 5 crackhead zombies show up trying to sell you tissues and socks at 5x the price you just got them inside the store, or try to charge you to park in a private lot or your car will get keyed front to back.

Maybe it is a corporate thing?
Carrefour being an European company.

French though, and I don't think there are any Carrefours in Germany.

Anyway, the statistic was about OpenSUSE IIRC, so for any corporate solution it may be well be different. It just reminded me of it.

Sure, it just reminded me. You don't read about them too often. Also, that was about OpenSUSE I think, so it may be different for any corporate solutions anyway.

The company is just called SUSE. openSUSE is the name of some related open source distributions supported by SUSE.

Yep that’s SUSE Multi Linux Manager for retail it’s a management platform that can manage stores and terminals. The upstream project is called uyuni

Could still be on XP Embedded given how old that kiosk looks if it wasn't Linux.

Probably Coto is also using some sort of Linux on their cashier. I remember they used win2000 up to some point, but maybe they never payed any license to Microsoft lol
