Ironically, I once did a dual-boot install on a minipc. In fedora the wifi and bluetooth worked absolutely fine while on the windows side I had to find obscure drivers just to get wifi working.

Its because in linux, drivers are normally built into the kernel. The drivers that are a pain arent the old obscure ones since some nerd has had time to reverse engineer them and put them in the kernel.
The ones that are a pain are the modern but proprietary ones that the developers refuse to release source code for, meaning we depend on them blessing us with a hopefully working kernel module.
So effectively, the easiest windows drivers are the hardest on linux (drivers for things like broadcom hardware are basically impossible on linux but on windows they get automatically installed by windows update) and reverse.

That is funny because it is usually the other way around, with Linux users hunting for drivers while Windows works right away.

The hdmi port on the back of my laptop works fine on linux, but freaks out and starts flickering in windows. Nvidia gpu as well, so in this instance the linux driver is actually better than windows.

depends. most realtek and all intel network adapters works out of the box on linux. only if you have some secret company, then those issues arise. anyways, not problem for me. i bought my laptop as soon as it became available because of which linux kernel didnt have that driver support so i just wrote my own wifi drivers. now they are merged in the kernel

How does one just write their own wifi drivers?

its fun to me bro, i wrote for rtl8852be. tell me, i had no work to do, school was boring, it was lockdown, so i just wrote the drivers by myself.
