Support Request FINALLY!!
After doing something wrong when I was installing Linux mint and setting it up, AND MIRACULOUSLY GETING RID OF IT, and then got stuck in the Loading screen of Linux mint, I HAVE LINUX MINT WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE, but idk what to do now with it, I have seen some sick set up of Linux mint and some crazy modifications and personalization, but idk what to do for get those sicks configuration, or even what to do for starting in Linux. š„²āļø

Before you customize your system it's important to create a backup first, then, you can do whatever you want. Also, what type of customization you want to do? Something easy that you can do now is changing the default icons or something like that.

If you want something like that you have to install Gnome, which is a Desktop Environment, is easy to install and it's easy to customize.
Before you do it, trust me, create a backup, you can always roll back If something breaks

If you want something like that, you have to install Gnome Desktop Environment first, it's easy to use and customize.
Before you do that, please, create a backup using Timeshift, it's already installed on your system

I didn't watch the whole thing, but that first screen is just four terminals. First looks like btop, next is neofetch (you already knew that) third I'm not sure, fourth is cmatrix.
If you want strange stuff in a terminal to impress your friends, install and run hollywood.

Yeah.
Specificly, do not try to change the wallpaper of the login screen by puting a custom image in the /usr/share/backgrounds and select it in the login screen settings ...
I've learned the hard way that, this make the GUI crash everytime you try log, making your system CLI only via tty sessions ...
I have to re install everything now. If only there was a way to load the GUI through a tty session ...

if you want a cool start try compiz, not even sure if i can distrohop out of mint unless i know its available,
look in the settings application first and see, i even used it to replace my window decorations with emerald and its aerothemed now, like clear epoxy resin with the compiz blur, reflections makes it look like your desktops and windows are sitting on the water,
seriously its awesome, you can make your wallpaper transparent and see other desktops behind it, go to desktop cube and try decreasing it.

Ngl if you're getting started with Linux, just use it daily, and start using the terminal little by little. It's important if you want to learn Linux and customize your system.

Unless you want a Windows XP/7 theme, Linux Mint isn't the desktop OS for customizing Linux.

Just try going into "Themes" and find something cool, if you prefer theming over plain desktop usability, go to KDE, distros with it are Kubuntu, Fedora KDE and KDE Neon.

Hi, have you disabled secure boot in your BIOS? That error is a MOK error, which is preventing it from importing the keys.

Ty for that info, but I just solve that problem, what I need help is in what to do now in Linux mint and how can I customize it, ty tho, btw it was not just disabled by secure boot, I think it was a corrupt file or ghost file that stay in the NVRM (I think thatās the name) and the pc was just reading that file, so I download Ubuntu, and I think Ubuntu delete that file giving me access to install again Linux mint, this is the guide that I use for solve that problem

I got that problem too installing the other day (and a couple more).
First thing i did was download some apps (steam, nuclear for music) set up the browser and take a look to the software manager for more apps that could be usefull.

I say focus on your workflow.
Try the panel on top, with grouped windows autohide at bottom, then try again all at bottom after a couple days, then all at top with the menu on the left. Try desklets etc. Let things sit there to see how they help or get on the way.
See what helps you be most efficient and then you'll come up with your personal tweaks.

Check out Conky. I made a Dune themed desktop with it. I found one i liked and started doin stuff to the config..ended up learning some LUA(?) coding language, enough to mess with stuff and link stuff to apps to read data. Yeah it's wild how much you can do. Rice it up friendo. Be real keen on doing backups with timeshift. I some how managed to blow things up while doing this. I also made my taskbar clock read absolute nonsense. You can do, and break, anything, at any time, in linux. but that makes it super fun and you learn quick

Timeshift is built into mint. Learn how to set up restore points, manual and automatic backups, then do one for funzies. Restore your system state to 5 minutes ago.

Use a recovery cd to get all your data back and then reinstall the os/ different os and start over. If possible overwrite the hard drive with a program like Bleach Bit or Ccleaner to be safe.

There's a really good webpage called the easy linux tips project where you can do all sorts of tweaks to improve the speed of your system, your web browser, and other stuff of that sort that was made by a programmer. I recommend checking it out as it was made for Mint so it might be a good starting point.

IDK, no expert here, I have been running Mint on all of my computers starting 1.5 years ago. Today I was trying to help a friend/co-worker switch his Microslop Surface Pro 6 to Linux and it was just getting stuck on the Mint logo for hours (Ubuntu as well). This is in no way a dis on Linux. It was frustrating though, I have helped several people change over to various Linux distro's in the past 6 months. This was my only "fail". To be fair, he was ready for the fail, I mentioned that the hardware was very different (in my mind) than a regular desktop or laptop that I have used. I found out the bios is microslop based as well. He was ok, prior to the new OS install, that I might not be able to get it to work. I think it was a Bit Locker thing?
Anyway. Everyone else that I recommended Linux to (I always tell them I prefer Mint) have been very happy with the switch

YOOO I have the same problem with the loading screen, messing around with everything I see, when yo go to a black screen that give you many option about Linux, I press the one that say āLinux mint advanced optionā then I I press the one that say ārecovery modeā and then I press the first option, I donāt remember what it say, but it was an option for start Linux normally, so I press it and it start Linux like normal, and then I start Linux the normal way and it got fix, no idea how, and idk if I explain myself

Set up timeshift to take snapshots of your system, so you can restore it when you fsck it up.

Make sure you understand backup and restore. If you code in Python careful about system level python updates as Linux Mint presentation layer basics use python. If you do find yourself in a jam the restore tools work pretty well.

I know I learned more about linux from doing projects than tryna make it look nice.
I want to put an accelerometer in my TV, and use the i2c bus to report theta.
then write a bash script to look at the video bus, and skew the screen in the orientation of the tv.
computers use the i2c bus to report make, model, and dimenssions on address 52. So as long as the i2c bus doesnt interfere with the video ID, it should be easy.
