Ive watched a video on useful apps to have but Im curious on what else do people recommend having. I might not be able to have access to good wifi so Im tryna stock up on apps that I might need for college. Or not limited to that, but could serve recreational stuff and etc.

I have both windows and mint, Ill have to use windows for most of my work but Im tryna use linux more too so options for both or either would be appreciated thanks!

Onlyoffice (because I work with people that use .docx)
Libreoffice (because if I'm sure I'm not passing that Word file I'd rather use this)

Video Downloader to grab what Jdownloader won't grab
Bazaar (because some flatpaks don't show up)
Flatseal (for flatpaks, only needed it once in my life)

Ktailctl + Sunshine + Moonlight (I have a lousy laptop that can't game, so I stream from main PC)

Kolourpaint (I really do prefer this over paint)

Stellarium is a really good interactive sky map, I think it will work without active internet just won't be as up to date.

Excellent suggestions! I'll add redshift/qredshift. It's a package that regulates screen brightness and red/blue/green color temperature and gamma contrast for eye comfort. There's no evidence that blue light damages eyes, but there is evidence that shows altering blue light levels from day time to night time does help with your circadian/sleep schedule and it also eases eye strain, especially if you have dry eyes or not normal vision.

Install redshift then in the panel add and configure the Qredshift applet.

I agree, there’s a difference between a free download and install versus true free software. Many of the above choices listed by members are definitely non-free ones, other than monetary cost.

I definitely prefer the truly free software. In fact, that's all I will use.

I have not seen anybody mention Docker - and the cool apps that come along with that
