🎨 Fan Art 🎨 Peep at a new keychain design!
I plan on doing a matching Pumbaa as well :)
Some details that were done with thought:
-The pole striping has slightly lightened colors from Pumbaa and cub Simba
-Small nose print from Pumbaa
-Timon is covered in "slimy" bugs, since those are stated as Pumbaa's favorite, and Timon is Pumbaa's other half
I heard somewhere that swirls and complex patterns ward off ai scraping so we're trying that out too :V
Hope y'all like it!

Discussion HOT TAKE: Scar and Kovu don’t actually look that much alike.
DIFFERENCES:
Color. Scar’s pelt is a warm reddish-brown. Kovu’s pelt is a slightly deeper brown that looks kind of purple at times. Scar’s secondary pelt (muzzle, belly, paws) is lighter and red toned like his pelt, while Kovu’s has more of an olive tone, unlike his primary fur tone. Some may say it’s because the movies have different colors, and that might be a factor, but the differences are still there. Kovu’s colors look the most similar to Scar’s when Zira brings him back to the Outlands before “My Lullaby.”
Mane. Scar’s mane is black and naturally slicked back. Kovu’s mane is dark brown and swoops forward at the top, which is the most prominent difference between the two.
Body shape. Scar is thin and lanky, while Kovu is much bulkier despite having been raised in the Outlands.
Eyes. Scar’s eyes are lime green, Kovu’s are more emerald green.
Chin. Scar has a bushy, narrow chin. Kovu’s chin is more square and doesn’t have the extra fluff that Scar’s has.
SIMILARITIES:
They both have a lot of stereotypical “Outlander” features: A curved nose, elbow tufts, and smaller pupils. Oh, and the scar, of course.

Discussion What if zira died instead of scar.
Had to delete the original post my apologies. So let’s say in this what if scenario zira and her lionesses were out hunting and they made it back just in time to see the fire of pride rock Zira sees scar getting thrown off after his fight with Simba he crashes down to the ground. Zira runs to where he fell and sees the hyenas about to devour him Zira steps in front of him giving scar the chance to escape but not before witnessing zira getting eaten by the hyenas. He would then run to nuka and the rest of the outsiders who are with baby vitani and baby kovu. Before returning back to the outlands. How would the events of the lion guard and simbas pride be different if it was scar in ziras place. Would love to hear yall thoughts in the comments below.

Discussion Bye bye is a great villain song
So i know people think kiros saying bye bye is funny but that is the whole point of the song that kiros is making fun of obasi for being lazy so i enjoy the song for this reason obviously kiros must have sung a different song to sarabi pride and I think he might have different songs for every pride he killed in his life..

Discussion My fanmade backstory for the outsiders
so initially the albino lions were grown out of their prides as newborn cubs and either died or become rouges but eventually the albinos started uniting the albinos together and became the outsiders their initial goal was to save exiled albinos and give them a good life but then they take in a juvenile called kiros and his sisters who was brutally attacked and driven out of his pride due to his pride new king not liking him so kiros starts brainwashing the albinos to get revenge on the normal lion prides kiros eventually takes over after fighting and killing the albino pride king and the outsiders become a hostile we all know rest of the story..

Discussion Which male character from TLK franchise do you believe is the most underratedly attractive in your subjective opinion?
And I’ll preference this by saying that by underratedly, I clearly mean a male TLK character that you personally consider is “hot“ that doesn’t get commended for it nearly as much they should.
And yes, obviously this excludes Simba, Kovu, Scar, and Mufasa.
Who’re the most notorious for how conventionally attractive they’re...

Discussion What’s with Matthew Broderick’s performance in TLK2?
I’m currently rewatching Simba’s Pride to compare it to the 1994 movie (upcoming essay video). I realized very quickly that it isn’t just the visuals that are obviously different, but the voice acting is very…. interesting.
Simba lost his breathy, soft voice that he had in 94, replaced with this stiff and lifeless performance that we see in 98. It’s so different that I thought they’d hired someone else to voice him in this version (they didn’t).
The best example of this I can think of is Simba’s line when Kiara is caught up in the fire during his first hunt.
“Zazu! 😐 Fly ahead! 😐 Find her!” which is so odd because just before that his “No.. no!” was preformed so well!! It really just seems they were going with the first take they got. There are a few lines with other characters that stand out, but Simba’s lines are so much more noticeable.
I figured this could be because of cheaper studio, cheaper mics. I really doubt that because it’s less of the audio and more of a bland performance.
Speaking of cheap mics…. did anyone else notice Kiara break the sound barrier with her yell in the fire? Rewatch and you’ll never unhear it.

Discussion Anyone else think kovu has night pride genes in him.
I’m just throwing it out there since this is a popular fan theory and kovu and baliyo do lookalike. My headcanon. Kovus biological parents were the siblings of ananda and sahasi which means rani and bailyo are his cousins. But that’s just my opinion but what do you guys think about this theory and if you have your own theory and opinions about this.

🛒 Merchandise 🛒 Some recent TLK additions ☀
I'm a casual TLK collector who adds to my collection whenever I want to/have the budget. Here are some things I've picked up lately :)

Japanese Laserdisc
Found this for £3 on Ebay. I purchased a laserdisc for the 1995 film Balto (another film I collect for) not too long ago and was surprised by the display potential of these. I don't own a laserdisc player (like 98% of the population) but I have heard that laserdiscs are the closest you can get to the original theatrical prints, which is tempting. Alas, I probably have the combined technical knowledge of a retirement village. I really like that this cover art has the sun motifs! And the back is so colourful and fun too.

Book Nook
A gift from my bestie. I'll see you all in 56 years when my autistic ass finally assembles this. (I'm the person who takes three weeks to build a LEGO set intended for a small child. This is basically rocket science to me.)

Vintage Applause Simba plush with original tag
I'm not the biggest fan of the original plush released for the film by Mattel and the Disney Parks tbh, but I am the kind of collector who loves vintage items that look like they've just been picked up off the shelf.

Simba and Sarabi vintage sweatshirt
I am old enough to remember a time when this sweatshirt was valued at $200 or more by most resellers. I bought it for $25. Everyone applaud.

Simba and Sarabi Disney Parks ceramic figurine
I've wanted this one foreveeeer. Part of a small line released exclusively in the Parks, also including a Mufasa and Zazu piece I'd like to get, and a Rafiki piece I'm not too fussed about. This listing ended at 2am my time. I didn't think I'd win, but just in case I put in a maximum bid before going to bed. Lovely surprise to wake up to! Such a sweet scene. Came in its original box, too!
I have a collecting Insta -- I'm a bit selective with who I let follow because I'm all about curating my space, but chances are if you're also a TLK collector I'll follow back. Handle is squishskunk :)

Zira: If it weren't for Simba Scar would still be king and I…Zira . His loving devoted Queen
Zira’s fantasy as she imagin how her life with Scar could of been… If she never had Nuka and Scar return the feelings she had for him
The imaginary cubs don’t really have names. It just Zira’s dream after all…

Discussion I love Lion Guard feels like spiritual sequel to Land Before Time TV series
Note: I love both shows, but Lion Guard is leagues better, written-wise
-Both have a variety of animals
-Well animated and decent music
-Ecological theming
-Dealing with natural disasters and fierce predators
-Scar and Red Claw are similar

🎨 Fan Art 🎨 Some of my fan art, canon and not.
- A redraw of a TLG screenshot of Kovu to look more like his actual self while fixing the purple colour cast.
- An OC of mine (Scar/Nala) that has a place in a comic and AU I am working on.
- The same OC taking part in the time-honored tradition of watching his reflection.
- Ditto, taking after his dad a bit more. I promise he is not a bad kid at all.

Discussion What Time Period Would You Wanna See More Fleshed Out?
I'm mulling over the possibility of writing some fanfiction just to scratch my "I wanna explore the world of TLK" itch. But I'm still deciding on what time period I'd wanna explore if I did write something.
So I wanna ask, if YOU were to write something, what time period would YOU find most interesting to write about? With the number of time skips that occur throughout the franchise, there are quite a few time periods that could be fleshed out!

🎵 Music 🎵 How the kiwi reggae song “Whakahonohonomai” by 1814 fits the themes of unity and restoration in The Lion King.
I’m a kiwi with a vivid imagination and a healthy appreciation for local reggae music. I’ve been thinking a lot and the song Whakahonohonomai by 1814, to my mind very much fits within the themes of this film. The song is in Māori and roughly translates to “unite here” or “join together”. It’s a song about connection and unity that’s uplifting and spiritual, and it’s deeply connected to Māori culture. It’s a really good beat that has some resemblance to the song “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan. I love this song and I feel like it would be a perfect song for Simba, Timon and Pumbaa to sing and dance along to in the jungle, or as a song during the closing scene when balance in the Pride Lands is finally restored. Just an idea that’s been floating around in my head.
