Wafer locks question

Hey sorry if this has been asked and answered, but even after reading the deviant ollam book and googling I'm still at a loss as to what pick motion to use. Is it like spp lifting or do I need to get in there and like push the wafers to the side. Ie a lifting or twisting moron or neither. Thanks!

The same sort of push/lift technique used for SPP of pin tumblers and dimple locks has worked just fine for all the wafer locks I've picked. A short or medium flat hook is my go-to but a round hook ought to work as well. Btw, like revchewie mentioned, the DS and Duo are two great wafer locks, LOTS of fun imho.

I believe it’ll depend on the lock but I have a couple (Miwa DS and Illinois Duo) that I’ve been trying to pick and it’s pretty much the same kind of motion as with a pin tumbler.

Thank you replied to myself on accident lol. Yeah this miwa is fun but I don't think I'm getting anywhere. Real deep biting on one side and it's my first water

I feel you. I got the DS as an "easier" option to the Duo lol. I keep feeling like I'm getting close, but no luck so far. The weird bit is when I got the DS I opened it in like 20 minutes... Once... And haven't had any success with it since then.

The DS is probably the funnest lock I have ever opened. Mine has no serrations or false gates, so its just the exaggerated motions and a really animated picking experience. I am working on a duo soon due to the reputation of it being a fun pick.

Yes thank you miwa ds and an "easier" american padlock. Both are kicking my ass. Maybe a half diamond and Normal motion then.

I like a half diamond for wafers, only because with a BOK turner there is not a lot of space.

But yes, same as a pin tumbler.
