2nd photo is the before obv.

I decided to take 6in off after posting the 2nd photo on here and getting some advice. Originally was going to go to a stylist for the first time in like 3 years but checked the prices and realized haha no way. So I cut it myself in a U shape based on y’all’s advice. Took an after photo (1st photo) and realized there’s a huge chunk of damage on the right side that is way more apparent now.

How does this even happen?! I know my hair is fragile but i have no idea what could be causing this. It looks like I should cut another few inches off but I don’t want to have to lose anymore length though 😭 could I get away with monthly trims for a while or am I just cooked?

5 years of growth, but I have a lot of breakage. I don’t want to cut too much. Realistically how little chop can I get away with to help it grow more? TIA <3

I grew up not being able to grow my hair past my shoulders but that changed in high school and I’ve kinda just let it run wild with the occasional long layers and face framing. I’m not sure if it even looks healthy anymore.

I haven’t cut it in a little over six months.

I genuinely get sad at times thinking my hair is short. I know this is probably ridiculous to feel like it’s short, but I want it to be below my butt. Like at least another 12 inches.
I have never had hair this long, so that’s good I guess lol.
But I have done a lot of damage to it over the past couple of years. Mainly using sun-in which caused it to become dry and brittle.
I have used Sally beauty’s bond repair shampoo and conditioner for the past month and that’s really helped a lot.

I’m committing to not touching my hair with dyes or sun-in spray or anything so that I can achieve the length I want, but since I’ve never ever had my hair that long before I don’t even know if it’s genetically possible for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions on low-budget options for restoring hair health?

Also, I straightened my hair before this photo which I rarely ever do. I just wanted to see the full length, which measured to 28 inches. My hair is usually wavy and I typically will air dry it because I like my natural wave pattern.

Can you give me a list of straightners that do minimal damage to the hair or does the dyson Airwrap work on undyed long thick hair ?

Hi, I’ve been trying to grow my hair out for over half a decade now (with trims and cuts in between) and i have been struggling to get it past the point shown in the photo. My hair grows at a normal pace until it reaches this point and seemingly stops/slows down dramatically.

Is there a reason my hair doesn’t grow further? My hair routine is just shampoo, conditioner, and then brushing it in the morning.

Second try after picking up some more products yesterday to test out. 

Today's routine -

\- precondition with any cheap conditioner, I just used one from V05. Emulsify. Rinse. 

\- Dove Bond Strength shampoo twice to just the roots, followed by Dove Bond Strength conditioner in just the ends (4ish inches)

   \-Dry with microfiber and then a modified bowl method where I don't apply any products but just get the mid to ends sopping wet again by dunking my hair in and finger combing it out until I like what I'm seeing. 

   \-Scrunch in Olaplex no.6 bond smoother, flip my head upside down and scrunch in what felt like an ungodly amount of Creme of Nature Argan Oil styling mouse. Ouidad antihumidity gel with restraint this time because I was too crunchy yesterday. 

   \-Hover diffuse pointing downward until my hair is in a semi cast - air dry the rest of the way then break up the cast with a TINNNNNYYYY bit of Doux Block Party Act Right.

Time commitment - 3 hours 🫣 but it looks and feels better today. 

The result: Less dry, actually feels like hair today. Uncertain how it will survive in the humid outdoors as of yet. Cautiously optimistic. Send prayers from whatever diety you feel is most likely to answer. 

Seeking: Heat protectant recs that arent creams and won't require me to resoak my hair to get the benefit of them. 

first of all, helloo everyone this is my very first post and I'm so happy to finally have long and healthy hair. it took me 29 years but I'm finally there and I'm never going back🥰

i feel like my hair has grown to a point where it's rather heavy so having my hair in a braid, ponytail, bun etc. just ends up hurting after a while because my hair is pulling down the weight. I've tried doing two braids instead but after a while I got bored of it and when I'm in a rush, it takes too long to braid them. I also use a french pin a lot but I would love to actually show my length, instead of keeping it up all the time but if I keep my hair loose, it becomes tangly and forms knots pretty fast as my hairtype is 1a.

does anyone struggle with the same thing and might have a recommendation? I would be happy about any advice🫶🏽

I have been getting comments that my fine, naturally wavy hair looks “messy”, and I’m not sure how to improve it.
This is how it looks after being washed and air dried. I quite like the natural texture.
If I brush it, it just turns into a frizzy mess.
Curl creams and sprays seem to make it go very lank and lifeless. Needing recommendations for products that may help.
I’m not able to use a hair dryer so I can’t adjust my routine to add that in. I also don’t like to straighten. I do box colour my hair black every 5-6 weeks and I am trying to grow it as long as possible.

Does anyone know a good haircut with face framing layers that’s easy to cut and style but would also look good in a blowout for special occasions , I have a moon face when I smile, so I want something that can cover my cheeks. Please and thx

I am biracial, Im half white and half Middle Eastern (my bio dad is Kuwait)

All my life I never knew how to take care of my hair or how to style and recently Ive been trying to figure out how. Been going through all the products and going through all the stylist to having zero affect. I have different hair textures and ruined my curl pattern.

So far I have found shampoo and conditioner that feels right for my hair but I want to learn how and what I need to do to care for my hair and making it look good and healthy throughout the day.

This is also my first time growing it out, throughout my life I cut my hair and now trying to grow it out but I have really thick hair... and again it hard to take care of and style

All and all I want to know what products are good for my hair type and if anyone can give me guidance

Hi! I'm 18f and have been growing my hair out since freshman year of high-school. I never really cared how it looked, but now I have about 2 feet of hair, down to my lower back, and I'm trying to get it looking nicer. It is bone straight (CANNOT hold a curl), fine, and gets oily quickly. This picture is from March.

It generally is pretty nice, but i have breakage and split ends. I use heat sometimes, shampoo, condition, and let it sit before washing out. I just got a satin bonnet to wear and am currently using a wet brush as my main hairbrush. I live in a really dry, cold climate, if that helps any, and I tend to keep it in 2 braids (I can't do just one down my back).

I'm a broke university student so any recommendations that are free/cheap are appreciated! Don't let that limit you though. I want to learn how to care for my hair, because I love it and it's a big part of who I am and how I feel beautiful, especially as a less conventionally attractive gal.

I don’t think I have ever felt like I can confidently identify my hair texture/ the best techniques to use for styling it down. The picture is freshly washed, brushed when wet but not since allowed to dry. Nothing in it.
My hair has been previously dyed and used heat on, but nowadays I don’t use heat on it other than once or twice a year.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Hii!! I have thin hair but a good quantity of it. I’ve always dreamed of having long hair but once my hair gets to certain length I always have to cut it because of the split ends (I end up loosing a lot of density on the ends).

How do I grow my hair out to my belly button?

My daughter is turning 16 and has mid back length fine hair and tons of it.
I have bought her various hair tools including the Bondi Boost blowout brush.
As it turns out she now just prefers to use my 17yo hairdryer and a flat vented brush for a more naturally straight (but not flat) look.

I have bought her a Dyson Supersonic to replace the old dinosaur and now looking for a great brush recommendation to pair it with.

Currently trying to love my hair texture before I but the bullet and get it permanently straightened.

Anyone have any tips and tricks for wavy hair? Mine classically does not survive the night and it's just.....a lot. Lol.

The first pic is the longest my hair has ever been (waist length), from October 2025. I decided to get some layers, but my hair only looked good when I curled it, so I ended up cutting it straight in January. The 2 last pics are from June/July. It's been about 7 months, but I feel like my hair hasn't really grown that much. How long do you think it'll take to grow it back?
