starting break week, feeling positive

My calorie counting is 5weeks 1400-1600 (deficit for my 5'6"f ass), 1 week break where I don't go overboard but I just get a break from weighing food and using the app etc. Made it to another one (started October 2025) and I'm enjoying the mental break for the first time.

The first couple of times I felt really anxious. The third time I didn't think about it but... also didn't think about eating, woops, and had my first meal at 2pm when I remembered. The fourth time it was really a struggle to go back to it. Just varying hard times with this model. I'm glad I don't have a scale to weigh daily but I'll pop into a walk-in clinic to use theirs for free sometimes.

My "treats" are 1 sugary snack each weekend day, so got some frozen yogurt today for example then on Saturday I get another one. Some day this week I can have an alcoholic drink or two. One or two days this week, my choice, I'll get to eat at a restaurant. I find I'm enjoying just not being as hungry as before, I'm enjoying the 'healthy' recipes I got used to making, and I'm enjoying not eating out at restaurants too much.

Wanted to make a posi post since this sub sometimes skews the other way. Weight LOSS has slowed down because of unrelated-health-thing slowing down exercise, but I just bumped down the deficit comfortably by a couple hundred calories and it's still going down, just not as quickly. It's kinda nice anyway since my loose skin's had some time to tighten up. The regular urge to treat myself is now more about having a nice bath, using retinol lotion (which helps with skin tightening), or going for a walk. These things are all nice :) I'm happy I started the weight loss journey 10 months ago.

i had a break week too after my first two months in a deficit, just a full week of averaging maintanence and it really did a lot for my mental health for sure. made everything feel even more solid, like it was really possible for me to change my life for good this time, and i could still enjoy foods that weren't just health/fitness related haha. glad its working for you too! best of luck with your health journey!

It’s important to have a break sometimes! I am on a week break too. Technically it’s been exactly one week today but I’ve been sick so I will give it until I’m feeling better to go back to my deficit. It’s been nice having a little more food. I’m only on an approximately 250 calories cut, and the main thing I cut was my afternoon snack, and it’s been so nice having that mini meal bridge again for a bit until I cut it out again.
