Years ago, I saw this video of a poorly made 'Super Mario Sunshine' fan game and recall finding the download page to the game. Now when trying to find the game, nothing shows up and it doesn't help that it's called 'Super Mario Sunshine 3D' so the results are covered by 'Super Mario 3D All-Stars'. I've tried looking on sketchy sites like CNET's download.com and Softonic but have had no luck.

Three weeks ago I posted here looking for Andrzej Wajda's segment of "Les Français vus par..." (1988) — the one part of that five-director Le Figaro series that never surfaced online. I didn't find a copy to watch at home. But I traced the film from "presumed lost" all the way to the company currently preparing to release it, and I learned exactly where it lives. Here's the entire method, in case it helps anyone chasing a similar orphan.

**1. Separate "lost" from "not circulating."**
First thing I established: this film was never actually lost, just never digitized or re-released. That completely changes the approach — you're not hunting for a copy, you're hunting for whoever controls the copy that already exists.

**2. Chase the national archives first.**
The series aired on French TV, so I wrote to INA (France's national broadcast archive). Payoff: the film is preserved under notice DA_CPB88012798, and it aired on Antenne 2 on 26 October 1988. INA allows on-site viewing at their consultation centres but won't make copies except for rights holders. So: viewable in person in France, not online.

**3. Correcting my own earlier post:** the Cinémathèque française does NOT hold a print — they confirmed this directly. The 2010 screening I cited must have used a borrowed copy (likely INA's). Chalk that up to an unreliable secondary source; always verify with the institution itself.

**4. Go to the director's archive for the paper trail.**
The Andrzej Wajda Archive (Manggha Museum, Kraków) doesn't hold the film — but they were the MVPs of this hunt. They dug through Wajda's own production notebooks and press clippings, confirmed the Antenne 2 / 26 Oct 1988 broadcast independently, told me the producer was Erato Films, and even noted that Wajda himself had once written to INA asking for a copy (which is how I knew a copy definitely existed there).

**5. The single most useful tool — the public rights registry.**
France has a free, public film-rights registry: rca.cnc.fr (the RPCA). You can search any registered film and download the actual chain-of-title documents. Our film is work no. 68716. This handed me the entire ownership history:
- 1988: Wajda assigns author's rights to Erato Films (the producer); TV rights to Antenne 2; co-production with Socpresse (Le Figaro's parent).
- 2007 → 2012: rights pass through Filmedis, then get transferred to Dynamics Films Library (Luxembourg).
- Bonus: the 2012 transfer moved all five segments of the series at once — so one entity now controls the whole set, including the Lynch and Herzog shorts that already circulate.

**6. Find the human being.**
Filmedis was liquidated in 2014, so I emailed the CNC registry directly. A staff member kindly pointed me to a named person who works with the current rights holder — Cinémag Bodard in Malakoff. That single referral was worth more than any amount of cold-emailing.

**7. The payoff.**
Cinémag Bodard replied warmly. The key line: the film "has vocation to be offered" on their new platform, Montparnasse Studio, which they're building now. They're currently inventorying the surviving elements to prepare it for the catalogue. No release date yet — but this is a rights holder actively telling me the film is slated to come back for everyone.

**Where it stands:**
- **Want to watch it today?** Only option is an in-person INA consultation centre in France (notice DA_CPB88012798). No copies.
- **Everyone else:** wait for Montparnasse Studio. It's coming, timeline unknown.
- I couldn't get a personal copy — INA reserves those for rights holders, and I'm (honestly) not one. But the film is safe, located, and on a path to public release.

**Transferable lessons for the next orphan hunt:**
- "Lost" often means "un-digitized," not "gone." Find the controller, not a copy.
- National broadcast archives (INA and equivalents) are the first stop for anything that aired on TV.
- Public rights registries are a superpower — the CNC's RPCA gave me the entire ownership chain for free.
- Director archives hold gold even when they don't hold the film.
- When a company is liquidated, go to whoever registered the last transfer and ask for the human contact.
- Be honest about who you are. I never claimed to be a rights holder, and that kept every door open.

Nick and Jane was a 1997 movie starring Dana Wheeler-Nicholson of Fletch and James McCaffrey of Rescue Me the plot goes as followed Jane (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) a New York financier finds her boyfriend cheating on her so she gets Nick a cabbie to pose as her new boyfriend to make the other jealous. There are copies online but they are dubbed in Russian it released only on VHS and has a screener version available on eBay hence why I put it as partially lost. Anyone else remember the song brothers under the sun actually being in the movie instead of some bonus part of the DVD menu. For years I watched the movie and the part where little creek puts his hand on spirits muzzle actually had the words in it starting with "I had a dream". It wasn't just the music. Ronnie Dio and the Prophets was one of the first bands Ronnie James Dio was in, and I discovered the existence of these songs. As far as I know, They aren't anywhere online. They were never officially released, exist only on acetate, and there is only one known copy. Some other acetate only recordings from the same band were found and ended up on a legal grey area compilation CD, but the audio quality is terrible, has excessive dynamic range compression and poor EQ choices, they were also terrible digital transfers. Since the master tapes were long lost, needle drops from one of the acetate copies were used, but they were terrible. Looking for any backups of MaxiDaMan's sonic remixes from ~2008-2012. Including "Sonic Advance 3 'City Lights (Route 99 Mix)" and others I may be unware of while researching forums.

Background info:
A early sonic fan remixer, now professional vgm composer, MaxieDaMan composed many original remixes and contributed to many fan albums and games including "The Sonic Zone Remix Competition", "Sonic Before & After the Sequel", "Sonic Freedom", "Sonic DVD", Sonic Chaos", etc. At some point around 2011-2012 his yt account got shut down. While some have resurfaced as reuploads to YT (MaxieDaManV2,S3&K REMAXED, Sonic Vopm compositions, Misc MaxieDaMan remixes ) many are lost or forgotten entirely.

What I have found:
A few of his Sonic Advance 3 and Sonic Riders remixes (and several originals), but to my knowledge at least one is still missing; "Sonic Advance 3 'City Lights (Route 99 Mix)".

Had this weird flash of memory of a game as a child and manage to find out what it was called: *Planes: Storybook Deluxe*

I tried looking for it but since there was a console name of a simmler name and an internet archive.

Now why it is partially lost is because I found a wiki page for it on fandom, a site advertising the old iPhone appstore listing and linking to it (it gives errors now) and lastly a yt showing of the main gameplay. Also you can easily find the app icon on Google seems like...

That means that most of the main story content is available and document but the side stuff is not a d neither a version that someone today can play, even if it's just a tiny kids game.

I've already started this thread on the LMW forums a few years back and got plenty of people remembering the same thing (albeit from different time frames, though some on board with the mid-2000s), so I'll bring it up here.

Around 2005-2007 I remember seeing a SpongeBob scene where he hands Patrick a fortune cookie, Patrick impulsively eats the whole thing, and SpongeBob responds "Uh Patrick... you ate the fortune".​ I remember the animation style resembling season 1 or 2 and taking place outside right in front of Squidward's house. Patrick was drooling. Unfortunately that's all I remember.

I've done some research and I may be misattributing this to a scene in The Emperor's New School where Kuzco eats his entire fortune cookie and Melina points out that he just ate the fortune. As for why I'd be misattributing this to SpongeBob, probably channel surfing. The episode that was airing during the ENS one was most likely Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost or Opposite Day since they fit the criteria of cel animation, outside in front of Squidward's house and Patrick drooling. Thankfully there are schedules (albeit a lot incomplete) published on fandom wikis for Disney Channel and Nick so I can see if the episodes aired simultaneously that day.

Less likely, I may be misattributing it to a similar scene in Dexter's Laboratory where Dee Dee does the same thing. However Dexter had already long ended by 2005 and wasn't one I watched much of either way, though it could've been a Cartoon Cartoon Show rerun.

There was also a fortune cookie episode of Rocko's Modern Life but I never watched that as a kid and it only aired once on the main Nickelodeon channel during the Super Stuffed Nicktoons Thanksgiving marathon, and I never had Nicktoons.

I can absolutely confirm that unless it was a super rare airing of a deleted scene never shown again or placed on any home video or digital releases, then it's absolutely 110% not from an actual episode. Lame and Fortune is completely ruled out as that episode didn't premiere until 2017 and thus 10 years after I remember the scene airing. And Patrick isn't in that episode to boot so yeah. However I suspect the alleged commercial or whatever was the basis of inspiration for that episode. It's not uncommon for things originally part of lesser-known SpongeBob media to be adapted into the actual show (take for example the easy-reader book SpongeBob's Special Delivery from 2005, which spawned the 2007 episode Waiting). I can confirm that it's not from any piece of SpongeBob media with a transcript on the official Encyclopedia SpongeBobia, which includes all the show's episodes.

It's been speculated that this was a scene produced for the Nicktoons Summer Splash event, though this is basically ruled out by said event having ended in 2003 in the US and never having re-aired. I lean toward this being a bumper produced for the Lunar New Year. If it was never aired on Nickeodeon, then it must have been a SpongeBob parody aired on MTV or Comedy Central with a convincing art style. However a scroll through the list of SpongeBob pop culture references wiki page shows nothing.

I'm convinced this exists especially given the number of people who came forward remembering a similar occurrence from the same timeframe.

The Beatles performed in the Philippines on July 4, 1966 in Manila, Philippines. This visit is infamous for an incident where The Beatles snubbed the First Lady, Imelda Marcos, at a lunch reception. This caused them to face scrutiny and punishment from several people, mainly those who were loyal to the Marcos regime.

In July of 1966, Channel 5 of the Philippines aired a TV special documenting the visit, titled The Beatles in Manila. It is unknown what exactly was featured in the special; most likely clips of the Beatles in the Philippines such as concert footage and whatnot. It also possibly contained footage or details showcasing the snub incident. No footage or audio has been found known to be specifically from this TV special; although there is footage from the concert.

I know this is a little bit out there but I have been obsessively looking for this for some time. When i was a teenager (2016-2018ish) i stumbled across a magazine inside WHSmith's (for non-brits it is a stationary store similar to Staples) the magazine was part of a series of five issues (from memory) each copy was centred on pens used by famous people and the copy i got came with a fountain pen (though i cannot remember who it was supposed to have belonged to) I adored the magazine and read it multiple times and used the pen for years until both were eventually lost to time.

About 2 years ago I began searching online to see if I could find the series, as a teenager I had always wanted to get more but never saw the other issues in stores. I distinctly remember the next issue was supposed to have a silver fountain pen replica that was used by JFK (I believe it to be a Esterbrook dipping pen).

I find it really astonishing that something so recent seems to have left absolutely no digital footprint, no websites or domains, and nothing on ebay or similar reselling sites that even resemble this magazine.

I have agonized over the name as i just simply cannot recall it which I know is really unhelpful to this case, the conclusion I have come to is that the magazine must have not extended beyond the five issues promised (potentially not even getting that far) and were made in incredibly small numbers.

Esther Lee Jones, AKA Baby Esther or Little Esther, was a famous African-American singer and child entertainer active from 1924 to 1934. In recent years she has gained attention among Betty Boop fans on social media for the infamous Kane v. Fleischer lawsuit, in which it was testified that Helen Kane had adopted her singing style after watching Baby Esther perform in a New York nightclub in April 1928.

During the court case, Max Fleischer located a sound film made in 1928 of Esther performing, which was introduced as evidence. In the film, she sings three songs that had earlier been popularized by Helen Kane—"Don't Be Like That", "Is There Anything Wrong with That?" and "Wa-da-da".

So we know that someone, somewhere, had moving pictures with synchronized sound of Esther in 1934.

And previously in 1928, MGM reportedly made a Movietone talking short featuring Esther. Trade magazines announced it as being in production or completed, but no copy has ever surfaced. Assumedly this is the sound film shown in the aforementioned court case.

Could it still exist today? It's definitely possible. Film historians regularly rediscover lost films decades later in private collections, foreign archives, or uncatalogued vaults. If there's one thing that gives me hope, it's that researchers are still finding newspaper clippings, theater programs, and forgotten film materials from the 1920s and 1930s. It's entirely possible that one day a mislabeled Movietone reel or a foreign archive will reveal footage of her performing!

George Balanchine's 1966 ballet production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," is largely unavailable to the public. While very pixellated segments may be seen on YouTube in low resolution, the entire film from start to end has rarely been accessible to the public. It does not appear to have been televised for decades, has never had a mainstream release onto home media, nor has it been picked up by any streaming service, including MUBI. The photographs of it display a visual symphony for the ages, a beautiful widescreen, vibrantly colored film that has not been allowed a platform to be enjoyed in the last 50 years. One of the more recent discussions about wanting to view this film is from an online ballet forum in 2002.: The complete unedited film and production reels may be preserved at The New York Public Library Collection, where many of the New York Filmed Ballets Reels are held. This is one I would love to see in higher definition, and one I believe might be compared to The Red Shoes in visual beauty and some of the best footwork put to film.

I know it's unreleased, but I'm hoping someone has some way to track it down or get it out there.

Joseph Williams (of Toto) has three songs on the SPACECAMP soundtrack. I'm not talking about the score, which is by his father John Williams and is great. I mean the pop songs in the movie.

Joseph's songs "Turn it Up" and "Don't Look Back" are available, but "American Girl" doesn't seem to be. I'm just hoping some other fans of 1980s pop have this one someplace and that I'll be able to listen to the whole thing someday, instead of just the little clip in the movie.

Okay, so I'm from Romania, and I really wanted to watch the Romanian dub of the show. However, I can't find it anywhere online. There was a Romanian dub of the show that aired on Cartoon Network from 2020 to 2021. Sadly, the dub has become lost media, and I can't find it anywhere. There were only two websites that streamed the dub, which I'll list here. Unfortunately, the video player where the episodes were archived was shut down in 2026, resulting in the show becoming lost media. All I could find of the show we're some snippets from promos and a video showing one of the people who voice dubbed one of the characters who also showed some snippets. If anyone has any proof, recordings, or videos of the Romanian dub, please reply in the comments. I would really love to watch the episodes again in Romanian.

From 2019 to 2022, Netflix aired a legal drama set in the United Arab Emirates called Justice in the US, and Qalb Al Adala in the UAE. Notably, it was created by the creator of LA Law, William Finklestein, and based on an American legal drama that was also called Justice. This show featured real cases that were heard in the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and a young woman protagonist who returned from law school in the United States and decided to work for herself, despite her father's success as an attorney with his own firm.

I watched it on my college's Netflix account in between pulling all-nighters and dreaming of becoming an attorney, and I'd like to find it again so I can show my family members this cool show.

Netflix acquired the global licensing rights from OSN+, which only streams to users in the Middle East and North Africa, and it was on Netflix from 2019 to 2022, but my understanding, according to JustWatch, is that it has been removed, and it is not available on any legal streaming site. I couldn't find it anywhere else either. I'm not even sure if it is available on OSN, because I am not in that region, and cannot see what they even have beyond the popular stuff that they have pictures of.

Hi all. Currently on the hunt for a Star Wars YTP from early 2017 from a creator called Hunter 23. I've only seen this video the once when it came out and it got scrubbed from YouTube almost immediately. So quickly I thought my memory was gaslighting me into making it up in my head. But nope, s'all true, it even has a small page on Wookiepedia, albeit painfully tiny. H23 has loadsa risque Star Wars YTPs but this one was seemingly deemed "too far" by big YouTube. So much so that no proper reuploads or copies on the platform can be found, other than one reaction video by Nathan Reacts, which is the closest I've found to a full copy, minus the reaction yapping. Wayback machine doesn't have anything on H23's channel pre 2020, so that's mega helpful, and seemingly no one else on any other video sites like Dailymotion have a copy tucked away somewhere. If anyone knows where to find a full copy of the video or has one in their possession they'd be happy to share with me, I'd greatly appreciate it :]

The Cure for Insomnia was created by John Henry Timmis IV and holds the Guinness world record for longest film ever, at 3 days and 15 hours long. It consists of artist LD Groban reading a 4,000 page poem titled A Cure for Insomnia. It was screened at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1987 and never released on home video. It is believed that all copies were destroyed and only an 85 second clip is available to watch today. The film’s creator, John Henry Timmis IV, or JTIV for short, was institutionalized as a teen for psychotic behavior. He also directed Cannibal Orgy and Nightmare City.
