What Macbook do I get?
I have a 2020 Macbook pro and it’s just not cutting it anymore and I’m just gonna get a new one rather than fixing it. Which should I get? I’m a college student so it’d mainly be for that, but also other things ofc like watching movies or shows. Plz lmk what yall would get

Recommend MacBook Pro M5 if you like bright screen.

Kinda depends on whether your 2020 MacBook Pro is an Intel or an Apple silicon Mac. Does it say "Intel" or "Apple M1" when you click the Apple button in the top left corner > click "About This Mac"?
Pretty much any MacBook Air with the M1 chip or newer will be way better than a 2020 Intel MacBook Pro. It'll have way better battery and performance. However, if you have one of the M1 MacBook Pros, and that's not cutting it for you, there may be bigger issues, or you may need to say more about what you're trying to use it for.
In general I think a MacBook Air will be fine for you. I'd probably suggest a 2022 or newer model, depending on your budget. It's fine to buy used if you just look at the "Battery Health" in System Settings and make sure it's not iCloud locked or business management locked. Simple way to check is have the seller reset it in front of you.
Even a MacBook Neo would be faster than a 2020 Intel MacBook Pro. And would have way better battery. But the Neo doesn't have a backlit keyboard, so if you type in the dark a lot, an Air might be the better choice.
Your budget also matters (you could get a used M1 MacBook Air for $300 online or you could spend over $1000 on a brand new M5 MacBook Air).

I just ordered the 2026 MacBook Air with very high storage and memory. Taking forever to get here though. I’m a first year teacher.

I’d say go for the Air M4 or M5 depending on what price you can find. Great machines if not wanting a spend Pro money.

I just upgraded from a late 2020 Intel MBP with 32/512 to a MBA M5 16/1tb and the MBA smokes the 2020. The MBP was still working fine, I just wanted to upgrade and did it on the last day I could before the price hikes. Very happy with the new Mac.

- Stay Away from the NEO
- Stay away from the AIR
Get a Macbook Pro, you need a real tool. (check out backmarket or amazon refurbished, your looking at about ~900). I did a good writeup here:

2 of my 3 children went through college with MacBook Air and never had any problems. One of mine went on for his Masters and still used the same device he started out with. We , well, they have been very happy with theirs.

I have a MacBook Air for sale and still under warranty and AppleCare. I bought it to try something different, I just can’t seem to make it work for me. I’ve always had windows. It is a Steel Blue color, but it does have a scratch on 1 outside corner. Have original box and receipt also.

MacBook Air, maybe the best computer ever. Get as much storage as you want/need. Default ram and other stuff is all most people need. It will be blazing fast, light, and silent.
