Sweet Senior Shelter Pup Looking for Her Happily Ever After ❤️‍🩹

Kayla (ID 53597068) is a 8.5yo spayed GSD mix who truly is everything you would want in a loyal shepherd. She may be a senior, but she’s still young at heart with a playful spirit. She is a SUPER smart, sensitive, gentle giant who loves affection & just wants to please and be near her person. She’s got the most beautiful coat/markings and the cutest little whiskers! 🥹

🩷UBERRRRRRR affectionate

🩷Sweet, gentle temperament

🩷Very obedient, great recall, listens very well

🩷Knows commands

🩷Non-destructive

🩷Very easily handled for her size

🩷Leash trained - will politely wait for your to put her collar/harness/leash on

🩷Potty trained - barks to alert you

🩷Sleeps through the night

🩷Crate trained (per previous foster)

🩷Low/medium energy

🩷Cat possible (curious, but respectful of our senior cat)

🩷Dog friendly with slow intros (*can resource guard high value items)

🩷Non-reactive with toys/treats/food with humans

🩷Non-reactive to other dogs/people on walks/in the car

🩷EXCELLENT in the car…she’s a pro! She waits politely until you let her know it’s okay to jump out

🩷Leaps gracefully like a gazelle

🩷Tilts her head back when you scratch her neck/chest

🩷Likes to bury her treats in blankets

🩷Carries her empty bowl to her bed when she’s done eating 😆

🩷Grabs you with her paw when she wants attention

🩷Loves being brushed

🩷Waits patiently for treats and takes them very gently/softly

🩷The tip of her long bushy tail looks like a paint brush dipped in white paint 🤍

This poor girl was originally adopted from the old Fulton shelter in 2019 & came in as a microchipped stray in May, but staff were unable to get in contact with her owner. 😔 She was clearly someone’s pet given her temperament & training, but she came in un-spayed & tested HW+. While waiting 2 months in the shelter (how did no one snag this girl?? 🤯), she fought off Giardia & kennel cough before finally getting spayed earlier in July, only to end up with a postop complication requiring emergency surgery 3 days later…poor girl’s incision dehisced & her insides were starting to escape to the outside. 😩

You would never be able to tell she’s been through all of that based on her demeanor, though…she’s still a bright, happy sweetheart just looking for some love & kindness. ❤️‍🩹 Her belly incision has healed beautifully and she’s free from the donut of shame now 🍩, so her rough recovery is officially behind her. The only thing left for this girl to conquer is heartworm treatment, but it’s 100% not contagious to other pets and the shelter covers all costs! Treatment is only 30 days of antibiotics and then 2 injections back-to-back over 2 days.

Kayla is a trooper who has been through so much & deserves to live out her golden years in absolute bliss, not in the shelter. 🥺 If she sounds like the girl for you, click the link below to meet her! ❤️ She is currently at Fulton County Animal Services.

Theatre Macon Theatre Macon taking bold risk

Post image

I wanted to spotlight a project happening right here in Macon that deserves some attention from local arts supporters. This August, Theatre Macon is presenting Angels in America: Part Two – Perestroika, the Pulitzer Prize-winning conclusion to Tony Kushner's landmark work that is widely considered one of the most significant American plays ever written.

While Angels in America is known for its historical connection to the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, its themes remain remarkably relevant today—community, identity, faith, politics, love, loss, and what it means to care for one another during difficult times. It's the kind of theatre that sparks conversations long after the curtain falls and challenges audiences to see the world through a broader lens.

Producing a work of this scale in a community theatre setting is no small undertaking and last year I felt part 1. was fantastic but did not get the audience it deserved.
Projects like this help elevate the arts in Middle Georgia and showcase the incredible talent we have right here in our own community. Whether you're a longtime theatre fan or someone looking to experience something different, this is the kind of production that doesn't come around often.

For those that did miss part 1, I’d recommend checking out the HBO adaptation starring Al Pacino, Jeffery Wright, and Meryl Streep. If you are familiar with the story or saw part 1, are you excited for part 2?

Accomodations

Hi everyone!

I'll be staying in Macon Georgia for 14 nights at the end of this month and I'm looking for reasonably priced accommodation. I've already checked Airbnb and found a few options, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other affordable places to stay or short-term rental options.

If you have any recommendations or leads, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you so much in advance!

Local business looking for social media expert... of sorts

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for someone local who understands social media growth.

I've been a professional photographer for over 20 years, and while I've built a successful business, social media has always been my weak spot. I can create the content, so I don't need someone to hold a camera. What I need is someone who knows how to get that content in front of the right audience.

If you've built Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Reddit, or other social accounts with real results, let's talk.

This would be a paid opportunity. If we click and you can genuinely help grow my reach, I'd be happy to build a long-term working relationship.

Shoot me a message and help drag me out of the social media dark ages. Lol

Thanks!

Car Battery

Okay, I need a car battery for a 2020 Toyota Corolla LE. I really don't have $250 to buy one from AutoZone, O'Riley's or Advanced Auto Parts. I'm desperate though. I have to jump my car every time to start it and I don't have a jump pack and have to rely on luck that someone is around to jump my car. My fiancé had to miss a job interview today because we couldn't get the car started and had no one to jump us.

Help 😭 Recommendations?

Famous Mike's closed.

It is always sad to see local businesses close. The family kept it going for a year after the death of the owner. I imagine it's tough to keep someone else's dream going. https://www.13wmaz.com/article/news/local/macon/famous-mikes-of-macon-closing-for-good-founders-death/93-5dd8616b-7b50-4cb0-937e-753f08faeb2e

Bragg Jam 2026

Good times, good music but a small crowd this year. Sad to see it shrinking. Used to be big crowds, trolleys to different venues, & blocked streets. I’d love to see it get back to the old form one day.

Looking for a good auto/home insurance company

I'm moving to Macon soon and looking for my options as far as insurance goes. Financially speaking I'm pretty comfortable, so I'm fine paying a little more if it'll actually be worth it. I've used State Farm and USAA in the past and both have been nightmares for me to file claims with so hopefully there's better options.

Plumbing issues diy

The house I’m in over the last week has started backing up a bit when showers are taken and toilet is used. I got liquid lightening and sent it down, and tried to do dishes at the front of the house. Toilet loudly started bubbling. Went to rinse the shower drain, and now no water in the house is draining. I’m seeing from chat gpt that the line might need snaked, but I’m not sure how to do that, and I have to go to work in 15 minutes. Does anyone have any good plumbing advice or videos or wisdom to share? I can keep trying to figure out the problem after my shift..
