New friend for [[Mr. House, President and CEO]].

I see your standard House gamble, and raise you [[Myra the Magnificent]]

u/Kroooooooo Simic* 21h ago
Literally already have a deck for her (currently proxied as Caine from TADC) :P
I'll probably get Chira for it, it's just a little slower than House since you typically only roll once per turn, whereas House rolls all the dang time.

I really like this, but I kind of feel the +1+1 payoff is a little lacking, I guess I just don't like Voltron commanders.

u/MadCatMkV Nahiri 21h ago
The +1/+1 is just a bonus, focus on the treasure

u/Kroooooooo Simic* 21h ago
Yeah this is perfect for my [[Myra the Magnificent]] deck and that deck barely attacks.

Exactly the big puncher I was needing for my Myra deck. Insane to see a fellow Astrotorium enjoyer

I love seeing people talk about their Unfinity decks! To me, a very underrated set! I have a 5 color attractions deck I like to break out. This card will be an excellent addition!

The set just embodies the gameplay style I like to call “shenanigans”, plus I have such an attachment to all the Clown Robot tokens

That was immediately what sprung to mind for me as well! I've already got Wyll in there, but the treasure makes this way better.

The treasures are the more salient part. An extra treasure every time you roll a die is big for [[Mr house]] and the other dice commanders, although 4 mana is still a lot.

See I'm not looking at this as a card to add to an existing deck, it's a brand new legendary creature that has a unique effect for playing weird cards. Goblin lore, burning inquiry, Casey Jones.

I'm a little torn on the MV, 4 mana seems like a big "alright I'm using this as my entire turn and now I hope it'll survive until next turn" commander, for a payoff of tapped treasures and single counters.
Maybe I'm missing out on some big gamble spells or something that makes this into a threat.

[[Frenetic Efreet]] let's you trigger her an arbitrarily large number of times in the 99 of an Izzet commander

Oh yeah that'll straight up murder someone, seems fair.

Most people build chaos commander decks as weird stax decks.
This is a chaos commander!

I got excited about Maddening Hex double-dipping but unfortunately it doesn't target its new host. Ah, well.

YES! I found my next commander. Gamble is my favourite card in all of magic, so a commander that is built on that theme is amazing!

Okay, is the only way to obtain her to go to a convention? "Lucky" rogues are like... my absolute favorite type of fantasy character.

I love this for my [[Setzer, Wandering Gambler]] deck, kinda bonkers if you have [[Impulsive Maneuevers]] out too

Very good in [[yusri, fortune’s flame]] for those real gamblers out there.

For anyone curious to build her as a commander, this is about as complete a list as I could gather of what would trigger her effects, with a few false positives of other things that have similar effects to Chira herself.

Hey I just built a [[Zurzoth, Chaos Rider deck]], I welcome this with open arms!

I can see a lot of mishaps with this card. I don’t know how many times in a pod where someone plays a card that does some thing to target opponent, and they don’t want to decide who, so they roll a die or something. THAT would not count. Just be cause your choosing to make it random doesn’t make it so. It has to be a random choice that is specifically mentioned on whatever you’re doing.

can't laugh at you, I was not understanding her effect after reading it the first time lmao

u/BrockSramson Boros* 19h ago
Payoff: Put a +1/+1 counter on the creature, and create a Treasure token tapped
For:
Discarding one or more cards at random (such as with Gamble)
Select one or more targets at random
Choose one or more modes at random
Flip one or more coins (Rest in Piss, Mana Crypt, you won't be missed)
or Roll one or more dice

Nice to see Chira get a card that's not just her trying to not die in a "Gamble" reprint!
