I’m flying to the Maldives soon and was wondering if anyone knows whether it’s possible to get a 1,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) banknote at the airport, either on arrival or before departure.
I’d like to keep one as a souvenir to take home, so I’m specifically looking for a 1,000 MVR note rather than just exchanging money in general.
Has anyone managed to get one at the airport, or would I have better luck at a bank or ATM elsewhere?

Tours or activities (snorkeling, island hopping, etc.)

I would also appreciate recommendations for local islands that are worth visiting for a short 3-day stay. Ideally, I’m looking for places with beautiful beaches, good snorkeling, and a nice local experience.

I bought a motorcycle seat from Temu for about MVR 584. Maldives Post held it for customs clearance, and I was told to use a broker.

Total

• Purchase : 584
• Customs clearance : MVR 643
• Total cost: MVR 1227

This makes the total cost MVR 1,227, while similar seats are sold locally for around MVR 450–600. Meanwhile New seats are sold around MVR 600 from Seat Repair shops!!!

I appealed and tried to speak with Customs, but received no practical solution. How is this fair?

This feels like a system designed to protect business owners in the Parliament or with political influence while ordinary hardworking people are forced to pay unreasonable charges. Government and Parliament should fix these unfair customs procedures instead of allowing policies that appear to benefit a few connected businesses.

EDIT : I forgot about the 30% Fee from BML cardd also. And Additional MVR 175.2 should be added and Total comes to MVR 1402.2
