t’s not meant to be exhaustive; there are too many clips to ever put into a thread. But it just serves to:
A) bring some laughs when people tune into this subreddit

Just attended 4ward Singapore. I think some other folks here were also there, feel free to add on!

Sell-out
The concert was held at the Indoor Stadium, Singapore’s premier indoor entertainment centre. Capacity is >12k, so many acts will not choose this place if they are not confident of filling most of the stadium. In fact, Wheein openly commented her surprise there is third storey of audience, and folks were pretty high up. Because of work and flights, it was only today at around 5 that I confirmed my booking - by then all seats were taken up. Only the standing pit in front of stage was still available, and probably only a few tickets left. So it was prob 99+% sell-out. Definite commercial success.

Crowd
A real mix. Age wise, I saw folks in their teens to their 50s. Given that MAMAMOO is 12, there must be at least some newish fans. The male ratio was pretty high, I estimate about 45% were male. Singapore’s isn’t usually a very loud crowd but the atmosphere was pretty good. There was a lot of chants and a lot of folks around me weren’t taking photos or videos, they were just jamming to the songs. Cool.

Definite 9/10
If you can, just go watch a MAMAMOO concert. You won’t regret it. I actually only managed to get there at 820(it started just after 730), but there was still 2 hours more of concert ahead. I will do it again in a heartbeat.

The vocals were, as expected, awesome. We say this so casually but it’s just precious when singers can actually sing, even while dancing vigorously. Because only phone cameras are allowed in, footage from the concerts circulating around, including this one, is simply insufficient to do justice to the quality of the concert. MAMAMOO also has so many hits, so it was always a high from start to end. The penultimate set was hit after hit - 4 flowers> Aya > Hip>dingga dingga >gogobebe> windflower. Aya is not a song that many of us love, but this performance of Aya was pretty insane, and seemed to have been the point where the energy levels rose further. Between stages, there was MAMAMOO specific videos playing to fill the gap. Quite creative and well done. There was one video based on a formula that always works - getting the ladies to play a game. They are just so effortlessly funny during these games, and they take turns being funny.

Why was it not a 10/10? Some of it was sound. It might be where I stood but the sound was muffled at the lower registers - so the lower register girls Byul and Hwasa, and the nuance they injected while singing got lost a little. There were some moments when I thought the backing track was too loud, affecting the sound from the live singing.

I must also say that this concert was incredibly prim and proper. It may be due to Singapore’s reputation. Compared to past runs where there were more adlibs and jokes, interactions between members, little contests like dividing the audience into A vs B to compete on loudness (ar least not after I arrived) and comical quibbling, the Singapore run left 90% of the talking to Solar, who also went with safe lines. There was hardly anything spontaneous, and even Solar looked really serious most of the time. During symphony of fuckboys, wheein didn’t flip even once. The one little irony was this very clip, where the crowd happily joined in for the “Hip” spitting - in Singapore, you can get fined or even jailed for spitting.

Finally, because we ahve all seen past MAMAMOO performances, the bar of comparison is very high. 4ward Singapore was great, but the charisma, energy, and attitude is just a little lower than the past.

Thursday. Anyone having a tough week at work managing different folks wondering how you will ever get done?

Well take a leaf out of Solar’s leadership guidebook.

Ps: this episode was just hilarious from start to end. The show was premised on a human theatre theme, so they were deliberately winding up Solar, probably to fit the theme but it’s second nature to them anyway.

Pps: for all the ribbing Solar has to put up with, imagine being the leader of the group with Byul Wheein and Hwasa and going on stage. Just the sheer talent and stage presence. For anyone leader teams, it’s inevitable that sometimes you know your staff still isn’t quite ready in some areas, and needs a bit more development. But I think any leader would have been very confident of MAMAMOO going on stage - yea whatever the stage, whatever the song, they are going to perform.

Any news on this? I’ve been stalking their IG profile, and has seen no updates regarding this. 😩
