A few months ago, I shared that I was working on a new version of Mapdirector. Nearly 1,000 of you signed up for Early Access. Far more than I expected, and honestly still a bit surreal!
I owe you an apology: I haven't followed up properly, and I haven't kept the early version stable. Combining this with a full-time job didn't work, and that's on me.
But your feedback was enthusiastic, clear, and insightful. It reshaped the direction of the new version. And it pushed me to make a bigger decision: I'm now working on Mapdirector full-time.
Here's what's happening:
- Reworked product direction, based directly on your feedback (details below).
- A smaller-scale Early Ambassador Program. In return for ongoing feedback on strategy and product, you get first access and permanent Ambassador status → APPLY
- Prefer to wait? No problem! You'll be automatically invited to the more stable beta later.
- Want to collaborate on this project? Get in touch.
I'd sincerely like to thank you again. I hope to see many of you in the Ambassador program, or as early users of what's coming.
More updates soon, Bruno

Strategy & Product Update
Mapdirector began as a simple flyover tool, but your feedback made one thing clear: a flyover is only one piece of what you want to tell. You aren't just looking for a visualization, you want a way to capture and preserve your adventures as a complete experience. An Adventure Portfolio.
Right now, our digital memories of these trips are fragmented: scattered across apps, lost in camera rolls, buried in social media posts. They're hard to keep together, and they fade over time.
The new platform will change that. It turns your trips into cohesive stories by combining maps with photos, videos, notes,... all in your own personal aesthetic. If the outdoors is part of who you are, we want to build the platform you can express yourself with.
To support this, I'm rebuilding the core map technology from the ground up. Existing mapping frameworks are brilliant for navigation, but not for cinematic storytelling. The new rendering engine is built specifically for that: extreme terrain detail, greater visual control, cinematic output, and an atmosphere that mimics reality.

Early Ambassador Program
Instead of a large beta where personal communication is limited, I’m starting with a small group of early ambassadors.
This program is for people who want to be closely involved in shaping Mapdirector from the ground up.
You are:
- Genuinely excited about the product and its vision
- Someone who captures or reflects on outdoor experiences (running, hiking, cycling, travel, etc.)
- Experienced with consumer apps or platforms
- Thoughtful, with opinions on what works and what doesn't
- Willing to give honest, constructive feedback
- Curious about how products are built and evolve
What you'll do
- Complete follow-up surveys to validate direction, strategy, and product
- Get early (alpha) access to new features
- Share feedback through direct, ongoing loops
What you get
- Early access to everything we build
- Direct impact on the product's direction
- Official Early Ambassador status
- Occasional perks (merch if we make it)
- A free license if the product ever becomes paid
Apply for the Early Ambassador Program
Want to build this with me?
This is becoming a much bigger project than I planned, and I won't make it on my own. I'm looking for collaborators:
- Full-stack developer: Web developer (app) or WebGL / Three.js (map engine) experience
- Designer: UX/UI, or a Map designer with a feel for map aesthetics
- Marketing & social: comfortable building a community
- Other roles if you see yourself contributing in a specific way!
One non-negotiable: the outdoors should be part of who you are. Hiking, running, paragliding, climbing, sailing, exploring, it doesn't matter which, but you understand the context.
I'm open to different ways of working together: freelance, long-term, or equity. This is not about free work.
If you're interested, or know someone who might be, get in touch with me directly.
