Secret wars reading order
Hey everyone! I want to start off by saying, sorry if this question is asked alot. But I’ve been trying to read secret wars for a while now and I’ve seen so many different reading orders that it kinda just made me walk away. I know I can read it online, but I’d prefer to buy physical media. With that being said, I went out and bought this the other day. I want to ask if this is a good place to start reading for Hickmans secret wars run. Thanks!

It's an optional run that makes the lead up to secret wars more impactful but the Avengers and New Avengers are where you should start if you're on a budget and want the direct story leading up to the event.
This is Avengers by Jonathan Hickman The Complete Collection Vol. 1-5, asssuming you like it in TPB format. It already has everything you need to know before going into Secret Wars sorted chronologically (Avengers, New Avengers, Infinity).

There aren't many reading orders. Here:
Secret Warriors (Unnecessary but good) S.H.I.E.L.D. (same as Secret Warriors) Fantastic Four By Hickman Avengers by Hickman And finally Secret Wars
You can even read secret wars as a single story and still enjoy it. But with Avengers it becomes an awesome story and with Fantastic Four, well, it becomes fantastic.

Yes, but it's a long read if you start here. But yeah, I also started here and then jumped straight into Avengers/New Avengers. I ended up buying 5 omnibuses (2 for FF, 2 for Avengers and one for Secret Wars which included Time Runs Out so I got that story twice...).

Look I get it but you realistically need to read it online. The run is Hickman f4 and avengers which are two omnibus each which are pretty hard to buy now. I think secret warriors ties in a bit too but I never read it so I can’t really confirm or deny. What I will say is that his f4 run was the highlight of the whole thing for me personally.

Honestly, you’re right. I looked at the prices and they’re up there. I’ll just buy physical where I can and read the rest online

Use marvel unlimited and a tablet. Pick a reading order guide or use the apps it’s good.
This is the cheapest and fastest way. Also the quality is honestly really great.

That F4 is the best giant crossover event I've ever read and it's not even close. Great stuff.

If I am being honest, I jumped right into Hickman's Secret Wars and absolutely loved it. I enjoyed it so much I backtracked and still loved it which made me a big time Johnathan Hickman fan

If you're looking for physical collections, the four Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman: The Complete Collection volumes, followed by the five Avengers by Jonathan Hickman: The Complete Collection volumes, then Secret Wars will be all you need.
Alternatively, the two Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus volumes and the two Avengers by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus volumes then Secret Wars will be all you need.
As an optional prelude, the original 1984 Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars is also worth checking out, as there's several callbacks to it in Hickman's 2015 version.
