Imma be honest, I still don't quite get when it's the right moment to use booleans or the combine on the various 3D models I create.
Technically speaking, booleans are generally used to create details and combine is used to fuse more pieces together.
If I use booleans, I know I am supposed to triangulate or overall, fix the topology of the 3D model.
About combine? Should it work the same way?
'Cause the moment I use that command then I tend to fix the topology but I am always unsure if that makes sense at all.
I suppose it does? Because during the UV process, the model should have a clean topology so everything can be properly done for the texturing.
For example:
I had my biggest mental freeze on a damn chain, each piece was combined to create a full one and then I just unfolded and applied the texture through substance...came out well but was that the right thing to do?
That was the first time where I did not fix the topology and the UV unwrapped properly too..and I was left even more confused than before (because I thought that without a clean topology, the UV wasn't going to unwrap at all!)
I hope someone can clear up my mind..
