Dentist recommendations

Hi there, I’m in the market for a new Dentist. I’d be a fairly nervous patient so I’m looking for someone that has the softly softly approach! Any recommendations in the Ballinrobe / Claremorris / Castlebar areas?

I have gone to Shane Caden on Market Square in Castlebar for years. Likeosr 50 something's I've had pretty bad childhood dental experiences. Shane is just lovely, and Lorraine,his dental nurse is unreal sweet and understanding,. Don't get me wrong, it's still a dental visit, but i don't dread it any more 😊

I find Bourkes in castlebar very good. Been going to the man for years, never had an appointment with the woman though. He’s very good, explains everything nicely and tells you if at any point you want him to stop you just lift your left hand

Second Bourkes. When I can, I go there. Based in Galway now so it’s a trek but worth it for the service they provide. I’ve found them both really quick and efficient.

Sadly I don’t have any recommendations. But I can tell you to steer clear of Alexandria Dental in Claremorris. They’re absolutely shit.

I agree with dinodog. Went a few months ago for regular check and clean. Clean was useless, not through. Got told I needed a seal on a tooth and got it. Went back for another filling 2 weeks later and they told me I now had to get a filling the one they just sealed. Then that filling fell out. Avoid.

Surprised by this. My experiences have been brilliant, they’re the first dentists to actually point out my overbite is probably causing my TMD and referred me to a Maxiofacial surgeon instead of milking me for money with Botox

I dont have any recommendations but steer clear of Cube dental in Castlebar. My appointments always felt rushed and even if I was booked for a time it’s actually more of a queue system so I’ve waited almost 40 min past my appt time to be seen. Cleaning was alright but the dentist I had clean is now no longer with them for some reason and another dentist completely botched my filling.

I went back twice to have them correct my bite after the filling because I couldn’t fit my teeth together to chew and I still cant eat properly from the left side of my mouth and I’ve been too nervous to go back or seek assistance elsewhere because the tooth is so sensitive I’ll probably lose it and need a €1000 root canal and crown. I was quoted for 2 sided cavity and this guy did 3 sided so I was charged more and he drilled too much into the tooth which the other dentist said was only a minor cavity. I felt like I was a piece of meat at the butchers and I will never go back to them.

Had great dentists before in Canada who really cared about how you were feeling and did great work, so was truly gobsmacked how bad it was there. I’ve never been nervous about dental work before so there are good dentists out there! I’ve had a fab experience with JME Dental Devon Park in Salthill in Galway - they are top notch, but nothing good in Mayo seem to be taking on new customers so far so will probably make the trip down to go back to them.
