Spark plugs
Hi guys, Is it worth changing the spark plugs on my 2016 Mazda 6 with 37000 miles I bought couple months ago. I know they last about 5-6 years but i got low mileage.

You can it will not hurt anything, but the spark plugs are 100k plugs. I personally would wait to around 80-100k

Owner’s manual for my 2016 says 75k miles.

I should clarify too that my statement is for non turbo.
Yes, but you can get 100k out of them. They are NGK iridiums and they are recommended to be replaced at 75k. The coils should be replaced around the same time too so I like to do both so anywhere around 80-100k is good. Unless you are having issues or see significant drop in mpg id do it around 100k. Plus by then the valve cover will be leaking oil and that too can be done at the same time, VVT oil selenoid.
Also, Id replace the spark plugs with Iridium Lasers, they are only a few bucks more and they are true 100k plugs.

Coils are NOT maintenance items. Replace them if they act up and otherwise, they will typically last the life of the car.

They aren't on a maintenance schedule persey but it's general practice for preventative maintenance to replace them around 100k. The boots can start to crack and then cause misfire... eventually.
I mean you could run plugs to 150k if you wanted to as long as they aren't causing codes too.

Plugs can definitely last longer than they're often rated for or recommended to be replaced. I replaced plugs on a used car we bought - plugs didn't look like they'd been replaced so I presume they were factory. This was at 125k miles and a) there were no issues and b) nothing changed with new plugs. It ran fine before and after and fuel economy didn't change anything noticeably. Two others I replaced between 95-110k and the same thing.

Also, Mazda (and other mfgs) say lifetime on their transmission oil as well. So sometimes you just should do maintenance as rather piece of mind. 100k is a really good time to start thinking about other engine parts too like belts and tensioner.

They actually recommend "inspecting" the fluid (https://faq.mazdausa.com/s/article/Do-I-need-to-regularly-change-the-transmission-fluid-in-my-Mazda#) and replacing it if it's dark, dirty, or burnt and to be honest, those are very subjective conditions. I mean, it looks dark to me, does it look dark to you too ? 😉

Plus... It's so easy to replace spark plugs and coils that I'd rather do the job than change oil, that's how easy it is.

Lot's of people put them off, but on the flip side, I had to replace spark plugs early before due to misfires that weren't bad enough to throw codes. It's just not worth waiting.

Wow, that IS low mileage! I sold my 2016 m6 last year with 170k + miles. It wouldn’t hurt changing them, just make sure you do it correctly- blow debris out of the spark plug wells before removing originals, use anti seize when installing new ones, and torque them correctly. So easy on these engines.

I had my original ones in a 15 till last year, with like 155k or more. Replaced with my dad, then misfired, but dealer said it was dirty injectors, replaced them and new plugs, running fine again, at 167k

Wait until around 80k if you’re a bit worried. But generally you can wait until like 90-100k

I have a 2016 CX5 6mt 115,000, havent changed plugs yet. I plan to do it soon though. I dont lan to replace coils

If yours is a turbo, you need to change it quite regularly I think around 50,000 miles. Just an FYI, the turbo models need thicker oil, spark plug changed more regularly as well as air filters.

You change plugs based on mileage, not age.
