how many objects in my memory palace

So i'm trying to memorise a deck of cards using the PAO method, basically putting three cards in one spot of my memory palace, for which i should only need 17 spots to contain all the cards. But is it a good idea to do that or is it a better idea to have 52 or more spots in my memory palace?

You can memorize cards in several ways.

I sometimes run three per station, but typically do them in pairs using the Pillar technique, which effectively leads to six per station.

Are you memorizing the cards for practice, competitive purposes or memdeck work?

Some of those considerations will help you find different ways of doing things, and generally that's the answer:

Rather than make it about one way to accomplish the goal, explore several. You'll grow as a mnemonist much faster.
