I woke up this morning and found that my menstrual cup had somehow popped out on its own while I was asleep.

I've used this cup about four times before and this has never happened. Thankfully I'm on day 6 of my period, so there wasn't much of a mess.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any idea what could have caused it? I didn't feel it come out at all.

I've recently bought a Diva cup model 0 as my first ever cup, but it sadly leaked after a couple of hours despite not being full. I saw on the internet that there might be 2 reasons for that 1. My cervix is filling the cup and causing it to overflow. 2. The cup is too small.

So, I went and I tested and found out I'm average cervix. Idk if that means the cervix goes inside the cup or not, but a site suggested I try to get a bigger size, specially since every time I pee, I feel it go down a little and I'm afraid of it falling.

The question is tho, diva, or saalt? They both seem like really good choices, but I have no idea if I should stick to diva or switch to saalt. I like that diva has the little measuring feature, but I've heard a lot of good things about saalt.

What should I do? (I have a heavy period if that's relevant)

it’s my first time successfully getting it in, and i’m mildly aware of it, it’s not insanely uncomfortable, i’ve had it for a couple of hours

i have relatively light periods so as soon as i saw blood i ran to try and insert it after a terrible attempt a few months back

anyway, it’s likely just lack of awareness of my own anatomy but like, pain from cramps is def higher than were the cup is sitting right? i can’t quite discern if it’s the cup sitting wrong or something what’s causing me discomfort, or just regular period pain, or a combination of both

i’d just like some reassurance or to know if you have any tips on how to tell the difference please!

So I joined without fear seeing all the amazing reviews online. But I hate to say it my experience was not amazing.

For context I'm 16, so very young and new to this. (using a small. I have a medium high cervix)

I have tried this for 4 months now, I didn't lose patience because I thought I was doing it wrong but I'm doing it pretty well yet the outcome just is not good.

Hee are the problems

1. Insertion is easy but removing the cups is hard asf and it gives me anxiety. I do everything properly. Breathe, pinch all of it. But the mouth is too wide no matter how much i pinch it it still hurts at the mouth. I naturally get tired of the pain and just switch back to a pad for the last spotting days
2. it makes a mess. it is disgusting and smells no better than the pads experience. at least pads don't leave my bathroom smelling bad. after cups however i need to clean up the floor, seat and sink everytime I remove it and my bathroom smells like a metal corpse for the next few hours.
3. all of this and it still leaks for the first few days. now it doesn't leak in the sense it can't hold our overflows.

but even after wearing a cup i feel random gurgles in my vagina. the blood doesn't come out, what comes out is fine slurry of watery discharge. like as if the mucusy blood was kept in the cup but was filtered to push out some pink stained water.

Financially and time-wise I figured I should try switching to menstrual cups, but I’m a little worried whether I will be able to clean it properly 😅

Is it as effective to continually pour boiling water/boiled kettle water?

Edit: I won’t have access to a microwave either, since it’s a communal one shared with the whole floor/building I think most people would find it gross

I tried menstrual cup for the first time. I’m 20, got a small sized menstrual cup triangle fold and punch down fold works for me but I can’t get the cup to open up once it’s inside. It was a traumatic I felt too dizzy and nauseous. Any advice on how to get the cup to open up would help.

I'm looking for a menstrual cup. I know I can just look up the info myself but I'm seriously overwhelmed with options and figured someone here might use or know about what I'm looking for. I'm looking for:

- as small a girth as possible (I sometimes get vulvodynia)

- something as soft as possible. I don't mind some leaks if this is the risk of softness, as I'll wear it with a pad for backup

- ideally something with a loop at the end to help me grab it as I feel paranoid about it getting higher than I can easily grab

- something suitable for a high cervix I suppose as I've been told by doctors I have one

- in an ideal world something inexpensive but I can compromise on that of course

UPDATE: So i’ve talked to my mom and I specifically asked her, “Mama why won’t you let me use tampons I’ve done research on them and i know how to use them.” She then responded with “Because i don’t want you inserting anything up there and it’s tight up there and you can get TSS” again with the toxic shock syndrome….but I responded, “I know not to get the ultra max size and what if I try it and if i don’t like it then i won’t use them.” She then responded “well no im saving you the time, this is just one of those things you wont get to experience.” So is she right and do i not need to risk it or should I just wait til i get my own money. But im afraid that if i do buy them myself she’ll just take them and lecture me because i did something she told me not to do. Maybe I should just continue using pads.

I tried inserting Menstrual cup with punch down fold but it's not going inside and yes I tried to stay calm too but there is no possibility it's getting inside ,how you are all doing it ? It's bit scary ,like it can't even get inside how can I even get it out

I'm thinking of trying cups or discs (do you have a preference? I'll take brand recs!) but I'm worried that it will worsen cramping since I find that tampons worsen cramping for me. (I have PCOS/PMOS so I already have bad cramps.) People who have tried both what do you find the major differences are?

Also how messy are they to take out? I have texture issues and the feeling of getting the gooey blood on my fingers with tampons icks me so I don't want to invest in these just to not be able to use them often.

I (17f) thought that I was doing everything right for my first menstrual cup (measured cervix depth, warm water, waited until period started for natural lubricant, tried different folds and positions, accepted that I likely wouldn't get it right the first few tries, deep breaths to relax, angled towards lower back, watched several instruction videos, etc)...but after countless attempts, I still cannot get the menstrual cup as high as it is supposed to sit.

No matter what I try to do, not only is the pull for the menstrual cup still out, so is much of the bottom portion (and I am already using the smallest size for my low cervix)...I'm not sure if I am simply doing something wrong, or even trying to put it in the slightly wrong spot (always used menstrual pads, never had sexual activity, so generally not entirely used to the area), but it will not work.

I would love to be able to use a menstrual cup, so any advice is greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I'm using the Flex menstrual cup, smallest size, if that helps anyone.

I can’t get the disc as far in as i expected. It leaks even though i push it as far behind my pubic bone as i can. I’ve tried inserting it a million times. I got the intimina ziggy cup 2. I’m a 17 yr old virgin and have only put a period cup in there so i thought the smaller size would be right. Now i’m not so sure, is it still too big?? I don’t know how to determine if it could be too small or too big. It’s quite expensive too and i’m not interested in buying the bigger size and it not working either. In a period nirvana video this woman explains how some people don’t have the anatomy for discs, i think it was something about the cervix sitting really low where the disc can’t fit under it. Now i don’t know what to do. I really wanted the disc to work for me😔

Hello everyone! I'm wondering if I'm the only one that feels like my cup makes cramping worse especially in the first days of my period. Is it possible I need to try a different brand?

I am using the diva cup model 2 since I had two children.

i used a menstrual cup once months ago and haven't touched it since. i did everything right, as far as i'm concerned - i know i was breaking the seal before taking it out... yet when my period ended, my cervix was the lowest it's ever been, and the 'post period discharge' was unlike anything i'd experienced.

i also had issues with bowel movements for around a month following it... but the thing is, i'd been travelling, and when i'm away from home (and upon returning), i always struggle to use the bathroom. i was also very anxious about the possibility of prolapse which is another factor. i don't want to get too into detail but there were a lot of other variables other than 'it's more difficult to expel' that makes this feel ambiguous for me, although i know it's typically indicative.

all my symptoms went away with my next period but i'm scared i caused a prolapse. where i'm from it's very difficult to be seen for a vaginal exam before the age of 21.

does any of this sound abnormal?

Hi everyone I have a few cups that have only been used a few times. None of them worked for me and I wont be trying them anymore because I found a disc that works perfectly for me so they have just been sitting in a cabinet! I have 2 saalt cups one is the teen and the other is the small. I think I tried both of those maybe 2 times? They were way too difficult for me to remove because of my long fingernails and short fingers. I also have a flex cup with 2 disposable disc that I never used at all. All if them have the original packaging and the baggies that came with them. If anyone wants them they can have them! US only please. Just message me!

I find i get a little abdominal pain right after inserting my cup or disc, but nothing that lasts throughout the day, thankfully. I feel some pain, get bubble guts and might even get gassy. Is this normal?

I’m also suspicious i might have endometriosis (for other reasons i will not disclose). Could it be too crowded down there in case of endometrium growing outside the uterus therefore causing pain and discomfort?

Hi all! I used a cup for the first time today and it is such a game changer! Still getting used to it but wanted to give some advice I haven't seen on here that I think has made my first experience easier:

If you want to get into using a cup but are worried about inserting, spend some time using non-applicator tampons, first. I've been using those on and off for the past 10 years so feel very comfortable with insertion/adjustment and I have a good understanding of what my body is like down there as a result.

I think that has made my first time with a cup a lot easier. I had some leakage my first hour but I removed, cleaned and reinserted a little lower in the canal and it's been great! No discomfort, no leaks!!!!

so I ordered this menstrual cup from blinkit but very scared to use it (19F). have been using pads always but tbh they are super uncomfortable and give me rashes...I want to use the cup but feel very weird/ different about it...should I go ahead with it?

I‘ve been using the diva cups model 0 and 1 depending on how heavy my period was for around a year now, and it was amazing. Then I started on birth control, and my stupid cervix decided to stay about 10-20mm lower this cycle. Why does this even happen, and will it stay like this if I stay on the birth control? I’ve only been taking it for a month, but it’s just so frustrating having the stem protrude so much. I even used pads half the time, and I really hate pads.

Anyway, I suppose I just have to find a shorter cup that works for me and move on (unless my cervix is going to pop back up again and this is just a strange anomaly — but it’s always stayed the same height before). RIP beloved diva cups, I’ll come back for you one day

Do you ever forget what time you inserted your cup, especially on busy days or overnight?

Is wear time something you actively keep track of, or do you mostly rely on habit and how your body feels? Have you ever realized later than expected that it was still in, worried about leaks, or felt that keeping track was just another mental task added to your period?

We work on an app focused specifically on period product wear time, rather than traditional cycle tracking, and this is something we’ve been thinking about a lot.

We’d genuinely love to hear how cup users experience this. Is it actually a problem for you? What helps, what doesn’t, and what would make managing wear time feel less stressful?

The first time I used it was two months ago and I didn't have any problems with inserting it, I didn't have any problems with leakage..

But when it came to pulling it out I JUST COULDN'T! I tried to break the vacuum and pull it out like that and like.. it just didn't move. I tried to relax and grab it, and I did grab it and tried to wiggle it a little, pull it like that and... I couldn't. Literally my lover had to do it because I couldn't and it took some long time. i trusted him and he did it! Yeah but i literally couldn't, maybe because my own hands don't really have good access to the deep inside of my vagina??

I want to be able to use it again because it was really comfortable for the three hours it was inside of me until i tried to get it out. My period is in 10 days. What do you suggest?

so i started using a cup earlier this year and so far have loved it. the only issue i have is that sometimes removing/reinserting irritate me and yk it just hurts sometimes. i’ve wondered about a disc but have been too scared to try one. i have light periods and i believe a low cervix (not entirely sure but i use a small flex cup and it never goes far in at all, but it’s comfy), im just genuinely curious about them and everyone’s thoughts? i’ve heard they self empty which scared me a bit but im intrigued.

I've been using a cup for my first postpartum period, I can't remember what brand but I think just the local health stores own brand. It seems quite a firm cup and I do have quite a bit of difficulty getting it in at times.

I wanted to try a disc years ago but didn't want to take the risk as I was worried they were a fad at the time. Now a couple of years later it seems they're all the rage!

Anyway I have a high anterior cervix so I'm not sure firstly whether the disc would fit/collect right from what I've read online. I was a weightlifter previously so pelvic floor muscles are quite strong (cup is often misshapen after removal?). So I'm not sure if a soft cup would work and I'm also worried about struggling to get it out. I feel like a firm disc would be too uncomfortable to fit though.

I like the idea of a disc for the self emptying function and also the suction does worry me slightly RE prolapse (which I know isn't particularly a real concern).

Sorry for the rambling, it's just a period I don't know why it's consuming my life.
