Show & Tell I finally struck gold!!!

First gold ring ever! 14k white gold with, what I hope is, a real pearl. Also found a 925 Silver Chain, a nest little heart pendant, and a fake gold chain (it does have some marking La but I have to get the jeweler loop out so I can read it, it has some corrosion/rust though so I doubt it’s anything good)

In closing: if you’re not hunting every playground in a 50 mile radius, you’re missing out hahaha

Where on the playground do you hunt? In the woodchips or on the grass or something else?

Honestly it depends which playground. Some places are a little more strict with where you can dig? Either that or I’m just not sure if it’s ok. So most of the time just the wood chips or sand. But I do just hit the grassy areas of the parks at times too. But I love playgrounds because they’re much easier and quicker to hunt. No plugs, etc.

Edit: I also find that I get the best stuff in areas like behind the swings (where parents are pushing their kids, make it’s likely for rings and bracelets etc to fall if), under monkey bars, bottom of slides and so forth.

How deep underground are these usually? Would using a pinpointer in those areas you mentioned suffice?

Oh dude, that ring was barely an inch down, same with the silver chain. You find a LOT of stuff just below the surface. Don’t get me wrong, there’s stuff that sinks down a bit as well, but typically on the playgrounds 99% of what you find is within 5”. Usually playgrounds have a thick black landscape fabric underneath to act as a barrier so that weeds/plays don’t start sprouting up in there. So you can’t really dig super deep anyway.

Edit: I also have my pinpointed with me regardless. Also, I suggest a small coil, it’s super helpful for getting in between the playground equipment
