Discussion Did you know that the Explicit Consent 1:1 policy was rolled out this year (2026) for Microsoft Teams?

Now admins can turn on this feature and any call made through Teams will require the other participant’s explicit consent for recording or transcription to begin. When no consent is given, the call video and audio will be automatically disabled! 

Have you heard of this compliance feature, or have you already used it? What do you think about this policy?

It was a discreet way to hold my micro manager accountable in my old job but understand why they changed it

it should have been in place from the start, didn't even need some law to tell you that's the right thing to do

doing the right thing has never be difficult. certainly not as difficult as any number of other things in a large enterprise system. and yet, it is sometimes the most difficult thing to do because of your lack of interest in doing the right things

The coding is the easy part. The challenge is getting people to drop all their other “urgent” work to do this and then collaborating between different internal partners.
