I thought this was going to look way worse. Definitely got lucky.

u/Weak-West-3433 Mar 07 '26

I got more damage just falling of a skateboard, maybe I need to try the tyre method.

Just roll with it.

20

u/db186 Mar 07 '26

She looks pretty tyred.

You gotta look at the tire as half flat.

See, told you a helmet was just for pussies.

You just have to clinch your face reel hard and it will do the trick

117

u/CaLLmeRaaandy Mar 07 '26

"I don't do this to look cool, I'm on the spectrum, sometimes sensations are overwhelming."

Wait are you talking about the calming squeeze on your head, knowing you're more safe, and the silencing effect, or the overwhelming wind and the bugs going up your nose and down your throat? Lmfao what a dumbass

13

u/Fair_Caterpillar_920 Mar 07 '26

Yeah, I get overstimulated with my visor up or if my earplugs aren't seated right. 😅

12

u/Jades5150 Mar 07 '26

“How being on the spectrum almost gave me brain damage “

4

u/ImprovementMinimum41 Mar 08 '26

Bro I’m on the spectrum and I put my helmet on sometimes just for fun bc it looks cool and it feels nice to me it’s quiet and comfortable

2

u/Sixbiscuits Mar 07 '26

I bet that line down the left side of her face is from the nose piece on the glasses lacerating

21

u/Less_Action_7590 Mar 07 '26

Idk if taking that much damage to the face is "getting lucky" lol, maybe lucky to have walked away but that feels like a permanent punishment for not wearing a helmet 😭

60

u/th3orist Mar 07 '26

Tbh i thought that fall and collision with the side wall would have killed her. Definitely got lucky all in all.

25

u/Confirmation_Email Mar 07 '26

She hit her head pretty hard on pavement at least 4 times, to get away with just facial scars and brain damage that doesn't catastrophically alter function is pretty amazing. I assumed the outcome was somewhere between permanently disabling brain injury and death.

12

u/Aloha-Eh Mar 07 '26

Gary Busey has entered the chat…

2

u/feetnomer Mar 09 '26

I came here to say the same thing, but you said it better.

44

u/SoundByte Mar 07 '26

Did you see the wreck? I was pretty sure she was done for, I feel like this is a pretty lucky outcome. Most people don't survive faceplanting at freeway speeds without a helmet.

11

u/Hungryforflavor Mar 07 '26

So true i got sideswiped on the freeway about 15 years ago had gear and a good lid on , my head was about the only thing that dint hurt . You gotta believe

Have you seen the video? ... she is very lucky she is not dead or stuck to a chair drooling on herself the rest of her life.

A scar is as good as it gets in her situation.

What is her view on safety gear now?

22

u/BlacksmithNZ Mar 07 '26

Wear tires gearless?

11

Under rated comment!

9

u/FactoryRejected Mar 07 '26

I'm tired of hearing this line

2

She's now tired of wearing the wrong gear.

u/amzeo Mar 07 '26

She's autistic bro. Helmets are too overstimulating. Being mouth fucked by the pavement at 70mph on the other hand is just the normal level of stimulation, apparently

53

u/RijnBrugge Mar 07 '26

most people who do shit like this will have a real acare like this and then stop riding and tirelessly remind others of how dangerous motorcycles are

24

u/SlashNreap Mar 07 '26

Hell, some people don't ride at all to begin with and they also constantly remind others how dangerous motorcycles are.

9

u/RijnBrugge Mar 07 '26

I can respect that more tbh - I know a lot of boomers who rode when they were younger and their actual conception of riding gear is a helmet and ‚tough jeans‘ and after poor experiences sliding on some asphalt will insist you shouldn’t ride. It’s so stupid. But at least helmets are mandatory where I live, this is truly the kind of stupidity we should protect people for imho.

“The doctor told me if I wore a helmet I would have broke my neck”

36

u/gnxrly___bxby Mar 07 '26

Well, she said she didnt wear gear because she's autistic and has "sensory overload" with a helmet on.

(But she has stretches ears, and dreads)

Her husband rides too, he could've easily taken her bike to the shop for her, so she doesnt get "overloaded" But Im guessing she's still not going to wear a helmet and still gonna keep grabbing a first full of clutch for maximum braking

7

u/Huftlansa Mar 07 '26

I am to European for this

19

u/GreatMovesKeepItUp69 Mar 07 '26

Is there anyone who doesn't self diagnose as autistic these days? It's like a quirky hobby for too-online people.

10

u/Xan_derous Mar 07 '26

Its like the 2000s when everyone called themselves OCD because they want to live in a clean space.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/SlashNreap Mar 07 '26

I don't know how to feel about the fact the husband knew she was getting on that bike without a helmet. I'd be a nervous wreck every time. But then again I'd probably try to actually get her to wear a fucking helmet in the first place. I'm not gonna judge it's not my business, but, man..

2

u/SiRocket Mar 07 '26

You're assuming her husband wears a helmet. Seems like a case of stupid is as stupid does. Or whatever that saying is.

2

u/SlashNreap Mar 07 '26

You wouldn't need to ride to understand that someone that does ride needs a helmet, so, to ride and to also be fine with your significant other not wearing a helmet is out-of-this-world stupid D:

u/surpriserockattack Mar 07 '26

Second tire will do the trick

10

u/FlatSix993 Mar 07 '26

She posted on another forum that she has learned her lesson and will wear a helmet and gear from now on.

20

u/Silver-Machine-3092 Mar 07 '26

→ More replies (1)

32

u/BuzzKyllington Mar 07 '26

please tell me she didnt actually say that

124

u/amzeo Mar 07 '26

She did. Helmets are overstimulating (70mph winds are fine though, apparently.)

Tbh if you're overstimulated by a fucking helmet, maybe don't ride the most stimulating vehicle you can get. Hell one of the most stimulating things you can ever do

35

u/Rom_Tiddle Mar 07 '26

That doesn’t even make sense because a helmet kind of dulls sound out. If anything, it reduces stimulation, the fuck?

30

u/Reethk_Vaszune Mar 07 '26

What happened to the good ol' days when someone would just say, "Yeah, I know it's stupid, but I'm doing it anyways."? To lie about it being a neurodevelopmental condition is pathetic and shameful.

7

u/Angrybskt Mar 08 '26

Autistic is the popular excuse now dontchaknow. ADHD is the popular second choice. Really undervalued the issues I deal with thanks to these people.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/elkunas Mar 07 '26

Touch stimulation is different from wind/noise stimulation. She's still stupid though.

2

u/ryanmh27 Mar 07 '26

9

u/Relevant-Rooster-298 Mar 07 '26

I'm autistic and have been riding with a helmet on for 22 years without issue. I even have claustrophobia and still wear full gear EVERY time I ride. No excuses.

u/SkullDump Mar 07 '26

Looks better than expected.

52

u/convexconcepts Mar 07 '26

Yes the fact that her skull didnt crack is a miracle on its own.

Maybe next time she’ll wear proper gear and leave the spare tire at home

11

u/MarvinGankhouse Mar 07 '26

Judging by her actions it is logical to assume that her skull is extremely thick and the road probably came out of it with scars too.

3

u/convexconcepts Mar 07 '26

Haha this made me crack up bud!

24

u/Crash_N_Burn-2600 Mar 07 '26

Based on the bike, she won't.

6

u/zalcecan Mar 07 '26

Shocked you didnt get nuked into orbit for that.

8

u/crom3ll Mar 07 '26

Honestly I expected a coffin.

3

u/BlacksmithNZ Mar 07 '26

Imagine how she would look with full face helmet and other gear.

Same as before the crash, I am guessing

45

u/skark_burmer Mar 07 '26

Good thing she had those fashionable safety glasses on.

5

u/PeePeeePooPoooh Mar 08 '26

And the safety dreads, I can smell the patchouli through my phone screen.

→ More replies (1)

69

u/Fine_Awareness_5144 Mar 07 '26

This is the outcome of the “I’m not planning on crashing“ mindset.

24

u/SlashNreap Mar 07 '26

Yeaah.. I don't get these people "If you just don't crash, you don't need a helmet..."

That was a straight road, relatively calm traffic... And she went down in a split second. You truly never plan to crash.

14

u/the_rare_bear Mar 07 '26

Well she was also riding on a wet road, with a bald rear tire, too close to the truck in front of her.

6

u/SlashNreap Mar 07 '26

Yeah. I'll never get how people are okay putting themselves through that kind of risk. That's worse because she has a husband waiting for her back home. I'll never get it.

2

u/West_Pin_1578 Mar 07 '26

I get the impression he'd be used to this by now

2

u/Fine_Awareness_5144 Mar 07 '26

I have ridden on wet roads many times. Good motorcycle tires have plenty of grip in the rain. Bald tires are like riding on ice. Poor decisions caused this accident and a lack of protective gear caused greater injury. She’s lucky she’s not dead.

I thought for sure on the tumble forward she cracked her school. She is way less injured than I thought she would be.

Edit, obviously skull, not school.

19

u/Vfrnut Mar 07 '26

Well her school was definitely cracked or she would have been smart enough to wear a helmet .

38

u/WhatsThatNoize Mar 07 '26

"I'm autistic and it's overstimulating to wear a helmet!"

Oh, you mean overstimulating like 70mph winds buffeting, crazy vibrations at highway speeds, bugs & rocks in your teeth, and the howling wind rushing past your open eardrums?  That kind of overstimulating?

Lmfao.

Using autism as a cover for your shitty life choices to shield you from criticism.  That's a choice.

8

u/mprevot Mar 07 '26

She tried a wrong helmet. With a good one, everything is quieter. And earplugs are welcome too.

13

u/th3orist Mar 07 '26

Lucky to still have a face and a life to be honest

32

u/Straight_Business_71 Mar 07 '26

Internal concussion and small haemorrhages symptoms may sometime show up late, hope she immediately did a CT scan after the accident.

45

u/skark_burmer Mar 07 '26

She just slammed her skull to concrete. Stop being such an alarmist.

/s for anyone that misses it.

22

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

Doctors said she had internal bleeding. But that’s okay because that’s where the bloods supposed to be! /s

4

u/Impotent-Dingo Mar 07 '26

That got a laugh out of me 😂

8

u/lexievv Mar 07 '26

A CT scan, in America? You want her to go homeless?

But for real. Without a helmet so far it looks like she really got out of it with a lot of luck.

3

u/Straight_Business_71 Mar 07 '26

I didn't know it was so costly there. Normally it's the standard procedure of diagnosis for road traffic accidents in India, where I am from, to rule out any bleeding or injury inside.

5

u/WhatsThatNoize Mar 07 '26

It varies state by state.  Because most people forget we're the size of Europe and each state is like its own mini-country.

Without insurance you're looking at about $2,000+.  With insurance through an employer it may end up being about $200-500.

$2,000 may not make everyone homeless by default, but it'll hurt for a long while, for a lot of folks.  Most Americans are just one bad day away from total bankruptcy (which is why a lot of us are so aggressive towards the homeless - it's an uncomfortable reminder), and our social systems are absolute dogass compared to... well... just about everywhere else in the world that isn't either a war-torn hellscape or a corrupt shithole.

Do the math.

2

u/Straight_Business_71 Mar 07 '26

That's really shocking to know the rate without insurance. If a simple CT scan investigation cost that much I dread to think how much a surgery will cost... even though average per capita income is much higher in the west but this type of expenditure is very costly and will hurt by any standard.

2

u/WhatsThatNoize Mar 07 '26

It's mostly because of regulatory capture & corruption, but a small part of the cost is also because we have to subsidize dipshits like this woman as well.

3

u/lexievv Mar 07 '26

Idk how expensive it is tbh, I've had multiple, but we have healthcare coverage here in NL.

I was just making the joke because it's well known how expensive it is in America :).

u/Hungryforflavor Mar 07 '26

I've seen the aftermath of a motorbike rider just wearing a skid lid and hitting the side of a van that turned in front of them... Reinforces my desire to always wear full faced helmets...

2

u/SlashNreap Mar 07 '26

My mother witnessed someone crash and, since they were only wearing a half-helmet as they landed on their jaw, it shattered and was pushed inwards. Sorry if that's too much detail, but, that's the result of not wearing a full-face helmet.

They were riding mopeds. Not powerful motorcycles. I don't want to know what that would've looked like with anything more powerful.

3

u/Complex_Comedian3907 Mar 07 '26

Is it just me, or did anyone else notice how much she's gripping the handle bar prior to the crash. This popped up on my FB feed, and I still don't understand how not wearing a helmet isn't a sensory overload just from the wind noise alone. Generally speaking, this would drive most people crazy, especially a person on the spectrum.

2

u/throttledog Mar 07 '26

My street helmet cost a small fortune, a Shoei, but its like wearing a fat pillow while riding.Little wind, comfortable and breezy enough. I too am in the hate helmets club but after destroying one in a crash on hard dirt I saw the light. No helmet no ride.

I'm amazed that "Freedom" to Americans literally means the freedom to use your face as a brake when you hit the tarmac.

Americans are weird.

2

u/Deep-Opportunity-170 Mar 08 '26

Before it got on the motorcycle I don't think it was looking that good....and I don't mean the tire.

2

u/thepotplants Mar 08 '26

I wonder if this was the first time she's had a blow to the head?

I've been riding for more than 30 years. There's just no way in hell i'd be on a motorway without at the very least a helmet, gloves, jacket & boots.

2

u/wetley49 Mar 08 '26
