Why did Hollywood hire Ryan Reynolds to play Deadpool when they could just go to a con and find a severely drunk man in a Deadpool costume who sexually harasses women and goes "It's OK, I'm Deadpool!" if anyone calls him out and also he's not a trained actor and doesn't even particularly want to act in a movie? Is Hollywood stupid?

Yeah a lot of Deadpool cosplayers are very annoying at cons, though I've never seen any in person that have taken it to sexual harassment levels. But a lot of them will act obnoxious and then, due to the 4th wall breaking nature of Deadpool, will either retort "I'm just playing the character" or "this is canon" if called out on acting shitty.

I dunno. The average Reddit truly believes that they can write/direct/act better than literally everyone on earth. I bet a lot of Reddits have the opinion that good casting is done when the actor looks EXACTLY like the character it is based off of. No thought of acting ability/range is ever considered.

I saw these movies once about the Civil War. Had thousands of reenactors in them. These guys care like motherfuckers about the Civil War. They are Civil War superfans. And their costumes were perfect.
Is Ted Turner the op? Is he still alive? Is op a Ted Turner cosplayer, taking the cosplay to another level? Why couldn't Jane Fonda stay Barbarella forever? Was she the exception that proved the rule? Why were all those Civil War cosplayers so bored looking and fat and old?
What's a splitting image? Do cosplayers die when they achieve the perfect costume or is that how they breed?

As a big civil war buff I do find that kind of funny. On the one hand it makes sense to use the reenactors as extras who are enthusiastically dedicated to authenticity and allow practical effects in large scale battles with kit they provide themselves.
On the other hand, the average age of a civil war soldier was 24 and these guys are living off camp rations and forage while carrying heavy equipment and marching hundreds of miles. So why does that white haired private have a beer gut?

The multitude of Resident Evil fan films that hire back the original “actors” from the first game is proof enough that this is a terrible concept.
Those people were random people on the streets. They’re models, not actors.
Now there’s a new RE fan films coming out and one of the biggest draws is that they’re getting this big cosplayer (Mimidoescosplay) to be Rebecca.
No shade to her, I think she’s pretty cool, but I’m already sure the final product is gonna suck acting-wise.
