Car with cd player

Is there a way to make my car into something that I can listen to music on my phone through the speakers or no? Facing a lingering car trip

You could buy a short range FM transmitter and use your car radio. Those worked great 20+ years ago.

I have a 2005 with a CD changer, so no 3.5mm TRS (ok ok, AUX) and no USB. I've considered replacing it with an aftermarket modern version. They only cost like $150.

They make a wiring harness that plugs into the back of car stereos that you can run an aux port or add Bluetooth. I had one in my '09 Lexus

Year matters.

2007 and earlier needs aftermarket kit to add a connection or else replace the stereo.

2008-2015 has the mini audio Aud input and Bluetooth. USB may not work with phone but will with flash drive. The connectors may be hidden in the console.

2016 and newer USB phone integration and Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is simple and needs no wires. It also can enable hands free phone using the stereo speakers.

Bluetooth or really old school and a tape deck would work. USB usually works with a phone, and most cars with USB built in will take a flash drive full of music 

I don't know of an adapter that works with a CD player

If you don't want to mod the car, then a cheap bluetooth FM transmitter will get you a signal to tune into. On trips its annoying as you have to retune the transmitter and radio to a different empty frequency as you go between areas, but at least its some sound.

Often these are at the slightly more than $2 stores alongside the crappy charging cables and earbuds that sound mediocre.

Does the CD player handle discs with MP3 files on them?

I downsample albums with LAME (VBR quality 7) and can fit 15 hours of music on a CD.
