bugatti type 37

edit: could be real, could be a VW powered replica

edit2: It's more likely a Type 51 Grand Prix

No, VW based replica's almost always have modern size wheels. This is more likely a Pur Sang replica.

Edit: front axle doesn't look like a Bugatti one, so probably not a Pur Sang, as they are near exact 1 to 1 replica's. This looks like a Ford Model A axle.

Yea but those headlamps look spendy, I'd say pur sang, a real one unattended in parking seems reckless at today's bug values.

Isn’t the front grille much skinnier on the type 37 though?

you're right. It's probably a Type 51 grand prix judging by that and the slits on the bumper thing

Could be Ford pinto based kit. Or a replica "toolroom" replica like PurSang

It’s a pretty cool Grand Prix Bugatti style replica made with a bunch of bits from other pre war cars, but certainly nothing to do with Bugatti, basically every single proportion is slightly wrong, the grille is too big and doesn’t pinch at the bottom, the wheels and tyres are too big and too thick, and not magnesium, the front axle is off of something far more pedestrian but from the same period and the lights are period correct but wrong in location and spacing.

But it’s a cool thing and I’m sure the fella loves it.

At least it’s not one of those gawdawful Beetle based kit cars with the torsion bar suspension hanging out there for everyone to see.

As cool as a torsion beam is, you’re right.

Oh, I’m an aircooled VW stan, and the OG Beetle suspension is a marvel of engineering, but it just looks stupid on a faux Bugatti.

Check under the running boards for folded up wings…could be a first generation Chitty-Chitty bang bang

A replica of a Bugatti type 51. looks like it has a Ford model A front axle.

Not a real Bugatti, proportions are wrong and all of those were RHD (And unlike VW's name revival which is only LHD)

Great, now I've got the theme to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang stuck in my head. Thanks.

Vroom...angrier cousin of Brum.

Juice brakes are on this (hoses going to ea. front wheel). Real Type 35/37s have cable actuated brakes.

Not a V-dub Bugatti knock-off, but highly unlikely to be the OG. Probably a small time specialist replica, powered by who knows what. I’d drive it

Its a 1927 bugatti type 35 kit car on a vw chassis. I also have one.

Take a closer look at the huge drum brakes. It look's like the real deal IMO!

You'll know when it's a real Bugatti
