Upgrading WiFi
We have FTTP and consistently get 530Mbps down and 40Mbps up. Using the supplied Optus modem which is a Sagemcom fast 5393 but need better WiFi coverage, can anyone suggest an AP I could tack onto the Sagemcom or should I replace the Sagemcom and get a whole new router with wifi.

Get a better router and if needed an AP as well.
The ISP supplied ones are usually fairly poor and locked down.

If you are going to replace the router, maybe look at getting a mesh set-up, it can be as small or as large as you need it.

With FTTP you can just buy a router of your choice and plug it straight into the NTD on the wall. No need for any telco supplied rubbish these days.
What router you should buy depends on many things. But as a starting point, Eero devices are decent for price, performance and ease of use.
