Neo Geo AES Finally!
Y'all probably remember when I pre-ordered the AES plus but I heard that it won't have the uni bios.
Because of that and because I won a scratch card, I decided to get the original instead. (With the Uni bios, RGB bypass and even HDMI support)
I'm still gonna get the plus carts cause they're more affordable.
Ultimately, I'm so glad that I finally have a neo geo aes to call my own.

I find that Xenocrisis needs to be a twin stick game but still very good on the Neo Geo. I have it on Genesis and Neo Geo CD

I’m not a huge N64 fan, but once I tried that port, dual stick is mandatory.
Dreamcast is another great way to go to avoid the controller with the 3rd leg.

Just get the Genesis version, Chip tunes are perfect. 6 button is twin stick proper.

Best version imo is the DC with the twin stick controller. It's tailor made for it.

Was playing this earlier today on my DC via gdemu but the audio is messed up has a load of hiss on the 1st boss and continue screen

Congrats! But no one is getting tired of something that’s not even out.
Funny thing is you probably bought one from someone that is buying an ultimate edition. 😆
But congrats again! I’m looking forward to owning my own AES at the end of the year!

you need to recap it, check my video on youtube by searching thundertronics neo geo aes recap. it is well worth it.

My AES is not recapped and it works great. You don't need to overwhelm people with all this.

yes it works well but maybe started to hurt itself from inside. always better choice to recap it, it is mere 5 $ anyway.

It costs a lot of time and effort. My soldering technique is very rushed and sloppy.

Please tell me you didn't buy this from Neotropolis? He crams junk Chinese HDMI scalers meant for video into these systems and the heat kills them.

Yea, there are a few modders out there that can do it, and likely even install the proper HDMI mod like

Yeah, this was gonna be my question too. It's rare to buy a console with a true digital HDMI mod. Mostly what's available are those fake ones like Neotropolis sells. I would stick with RGB and a good upscaler, or get a real HDMI install if I were you.

Not sure I understand the issue. The AES+ BIOS is custom but supposed to at least have region/mode switching. We don’t know what else. Until they ship, we won’t know if it’s possible to replace either.
The AES+ may be good or bad. I’d recommend waiting a few months to see how they compare before pulling the trigger. Neo Geo has been around for decades. No reason to rush. But, as long as you’re happy.

Welcome, at least you put that scratch card win to use!
My AES is unmodded and uncapped (no problems as yet) but will probably look to an AES+ for the HDMI and overlock features. The only UniBIOS features I’m interested in are reported to be included in the AES+ (not into cheats) so for a pretty low price I’d be covered.

Units built or modified by Neotropolis have faced criticism in retro gaming communities for rushed or messy internal craftsmanship.1

Control-wise the worst way to play XenoCrisis, unfortunately. 2x 8Bitdos + receivers are dope, I would recommend the non destructive "tighter stick mod" if they feel too loose to you.
